FXIFY™ and WeForest Partner Again to Tackle Deforestation in 2025

Trading capital meets climate action as FXIFY launches its second reforestation campaign.
LONDON, June 9, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- FXIFY, the industry's oldest broker-backed prop firm, is proud to announce the return of its Earth Day initiative in partnership with WeForest. After the overwhelming success of last year's campaign, which resulted in 15,400 trees planted by over 5,000 traders and the regeneration of 14 hectares of degraded land in Butiama Hills, Tanzania, FXIFY has once again committed to growth that goes beyond trading accounts. This year, the firm is aiming to plant a further 15,000+ trees as a result of their Earth Day campaign.
'At FXIFY, growth has always meant more than numbers on a screen,' said Peter Brown, Co-Founder of FXIFY. 'We're proud to support reforestation efforts that not only help the planet, but directly support the communities living in these regions.'
For every funded trading challenge purchased during the campaign period, FXIFY will plant a tree in partnership with WeForest, an international nonprofit focused on restoring threatened forest ecosystems through science-backed, locally led projects. This year's planting effort will once again support the Butiama Hills region in Tanzania — an area deeply affected by deforestation and land degradation.
WeForest's work in Butiama Hills aims to regenerate hectares of degraded land through assisted natural regeneration. The reforestation project provides clean water, improves biodiversity, and empowers local communities with sustainable job opportunities — including beekeeping and agroforestry training for women. The total reforestation goal for this region is 3,868 hectares.
Last year, over 5,000 traders participated in FXIFY's Earth Day campaign, contributing to the planting of 15,400 trees, restoring 14 hectares, and storing an estimated 1,330 tonnes of CO₂ over 20 years. This year, FXIFY aims to match that momentum with an even bigger impact, both for traders and the environment.
'We're incredibly proud of our traders for showing up not just for themselves, but for something bigger,' said Peter Brown. 'This campaign proves that trading can do more than grow your account — it can help grow a better world.'

Johannesburg's $1.4 Billion Blowup: Is Africa's Financial Capital on the Brink of Collapse?

South Africa's most important city is now in the hot seat. Johannesburg is under fire after the National Treasury flagged 24.4 billion rand ($1.4 billion) in irregular, unauthorized, and wasteful spending. In a formal letter dated July 30, Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana gave Mayor Dada Morero just 14 days to explain how the city plans to fix the messor risk losing critical national funding. That funding accounts for about 15% of Johannesburg's 89 billion rand annual budget, and without it, even the most basic services could be pushed past the breaking point. Warning! GuruFocus has detected 9 Warning Signs with GS. This isn't just another bureaucratic disputeit's a direct threat to investor confidence in the city that houses the continent's largest stock exchange and the headquarters of major corporations like Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA). Internal documents reviewed by Bloomberg revealed Johannesburg is over 221 billion rand behind on much-needed infrastructure upgrades. Roads are crumbling, outages are frequent, and crime remains high. While Mayor Morero recently assembled a "bomb squad" of former officials to improve service delivery, critics argue that past financial mismanagement has already left deep scars. The Democratic Alliance, the main opposition party, called this the gravest financial threat in Johannesburg's democratic history. The stakes go beyond local politics. If Treasury follows through and pulls back funding, it could trigger a broader credibility crisis for South Africa's ruling coalitionjust months before Johannesburg is set to host world leaders at a major global summit. For investors watching from abroad, this situation introduces a new variable into the risk calculus for South African assets. Treasury's letter makes it clear: without urgent action, Johannesburg could become a cautionary tale about fiscal negligence in one of Africa's most promising markets. 1 Hotel Seattle hotel review

Location Located in a residential complex in the shadows of the skyscrapers of Seattle's business district that hosts brands such as Amazon and Google, 1Hotel provides easy access to the main landmarks of the city. It's just a 15-minute walk to the Space Needle and to the iconic Pike Place Market, where you will find the world's first Starbucks, a must-see site for coffee lovers. The hotel is also just a 20-minute cab ride to Seattle's bustling cruise terminal, making it well-situated for passengers before or after a trip. The vibe The hotel feels fresh and new, having only opened in May after replacing and renovating the Denny Park Hotel. It is one of 14 sustainability-focused locations around the world for the 1Hotel group, yet there is a clear local approach. Guests are welcomed into the lobby by a living wall of vegetation in the shape of Washington state's Mount Rainier and a '1' monument using 575 driftwood pieces sourced from private beaches around the Puget Sound by local artist Rebecca Stigora. Nature is brought to life around the hotel with 1,142 plants across the site. Earthy tones on the walls and greenery that surround the soft white furnishings throughout the public spaces give the feel of a safari lodge, where it is easy to relax before venturing out to the urban jungle of Seattle life. Service Staff are keen to impress. The reception desk is staffed around the clock, which is useful if your flight is delayed. Check-in is quick, and a concierge will help take your bags to the room and staff are knowledgeable about the local area. Some logistics may still need ironing out – our late arrival meant the housekeeping service had understandably only finished their clean at 11pm, and we had to request a member of the guest services team to show us how to set up the sofa bed for our kids. Bed and bath The hotel has 153 rooms, including 45 suites, spread across 11 floors. Interiors feature teak wood floors, tapestry wall hangings, and floor-to-ceiling windows with breathtaking city views, including of the Space Needle. Soft cotton bedding, 55-inch TVs, and bathrobes make things feel homely, while sustainable touches such as chalkboards instead of notepads and bamboo-based tissue paper underscore the eco-conscious ethos. Bathrooms are stocked with Bamford products and include both walk-in rain showers and separate tubs. A wooden coin also encourages guests to participate in the '1 Less Thing' program, letting them donate unwanted clothes to local charity Mary's Place. Food and drink Meals are not included in the base rate, but packages can include dining credits. Breakfast at Drift bar is worth the extra money, especially for the Tropical Blue Colada smoothie – a vibrant mix of pineapple, coconut and blue spirulina. Dinner at La Loba offers an inventive fusion of Catalan tapas with Asian influences. Highlights include smoked candy salmon with truffle cream cheese and oversized crispy potato bravas. The menu caters to dietary needs with gluten-free and vegan options such as avocado salad and pesto-seasoned cauliflower. Facilities There is a gym where you can take part in morning yoga sessions and recharge on Peloton bikes and treadmills. The hotel occasionally hosts events such as leather crafting and flower making. There is no swimming pool, but you can relax in the Drift bar or in the many nature-inspired seating areas indoors and on the roof terrace. You can even borrow one of the hotel's electric Audi Q6 e-trons to test drive and transport you around the city during your stay. Accessibility The hotel is fully accessible, with street-level entry, automatic doors, elevators, braille signage, and service-animal-friendly policies. Rooms with adapted features are available. Pet policy Dogs are welcome for no extra fee and furry friends get their own in-room bed and bowls. Dogs must be kept on a lead in public areas and aren't allowed in the restaurant or gym. Check in/check out? Check in from 4pm; Check out by 12pm. Family-friendly? Children are welcome. There are connecting rooms and others with sofa beds. There is also a hotel package that includes a $100 breakfast credit, a milk and cookies welcome treat and a complimentary in-room movie.
