Footballer dies aged 23 after horror car crash left him in a coma for 15 days
La Palmas have confirmed the sad passing of Zeben Ramos after he was involved in a car crash earlier this month with a number of their Spanish colleagues having since offered their tributes Spanish side Las Palmas have announced the death of 23-year-old star Zeben Ramos just weeks after he was left in a coma following a horror car crash. The young defender was involved in a horrendous smash on June 9 that left him in a coma. He was unconscious for around two weeks before unfortunately passing away due to his injuries. In a statement, Las Palmas said: "UD Las Palmas deeply regret having to announce the passing of Zebensui Ramos Gonzalez, known in football as Zeben. "The Las Palmas C team player, aged 23, was unable to overcome the severe injuries he sustained in a tragic collision on June 9 at Arucas on Gran Canaria. "A versatile left-sided defender with great prospects, Zeben stood out due to his commitment, character and ability to adapt to various defensive roles. "His non-stop hard work and his attitude on and off the pitch earned him the chance to repeatedly train with [reserve team] Las Palmas Atletico. "We wish to convey our deepest condolences to his family, friends and teammates, and to everyone who accompanied him during his football career. The entire Yellows family unites in grief at Zeben's loss. He will forever remain in our hearts." The club held a minute silence ahead of Friday's training session to remember their team-mate. Ramos only moved to the Gran Canarian side in January 2024 and went on to play for the reserve side. Following the announcement, a number of kind words from fellow Spanish sides followed in response. La Liga side Sevilla were one of those as they replied: "Sevilla Fútbol Club expresses its condolences for the passing of Zeben Ramos to all his family and loved ones, as well as to UD Las Palmas. Rest in peace." Celta Vigo added: "From RC Celta, we wish to express our deepest condolences to @UDLP_Oficial, their fans , and the family and loved ones of Zeben Ramos. Much strength in these difficult times. Rest in peace, Zeben." Espanyol replied: "From RCD Espanyol, we wish to express our deepest condolences to all the family and colleagues of Zeben Ramos, as well as to UD Las Palmas. RIP." Las Palmas are set to play in the second tier of Spanish football next season after being relegated from La Liga. They eventually finished nine points adrift of safety after winning just eight games throughout the campaign. The Spanish side only returned to La Liga in 2023 following a five-year exile.

Sutton's clear Celtic transfer warning ahead of UCL play-off
Brendan Rodgers' men will contest a two-legged tie to determine whether they will make it into the league phase of European football's premier club competition at the end of August. And Sutton believes that his old team shouldn't be negotiating said showdown without a 'full deck of cards'. Read more: "I'm not daft," he said [RecordSport]. "I understand how the market works. "I'm fully aware that Celtic will have targets who, at this stage, might not be unavailable due to their own clubs not having made up their mind, or that agents are playing a waiting game and trying to smoke out the best deals, waiting to see if they can generate as much interest as possible for their client. "Unless Celtic are going to start paying silly money, I'd imagine they may have to wait, perhaps even until the end of the window, for some of the key targets. "But it still feels a little lacking to me at this precise point of proceedings and, at the very least, Rodgers will surely want the majority in his squad for the start of the domestic season. "Rodgers doesn't need me to tell him what it's like to have to deal with these qualifiers without a full deck of cards. He's been there. "Now returned, he's back in that pressure pot and, at this stage, there looks like there's plenty to be done. Kieran Tierney has signed, but who is the back up with Greg Taylor leaving? Nygren now in with Ross Doohan, yet the new striker that was wanted in January when Kyogo left will still be wanted. Other areas of the side to be addressed. "It seems there is much to do and there's too much going on the line for Celtic not to try and get as much of it done as soon as possible."
