Willow, 3, meets William and shares her crisps

Yahoo07-06-2025

When Prince William paused to greet three-year-old Willow during a visit to the Royal Cornwall Show, her family never expected a gift to exchange hands.
They were taken aback when Willow reached up with a single Quaver - and even more surprised when the prince popped the savoury snack into his jacket pocket.
"I don't think I've ever been offered a Quaver before," the prince said. "I'm going to save this and put it in my pocket for later."
Grandmother Sharon Hart, who captured the moment on video, told the BBC: "It was a lovely genuine moment and a memory that we will never forget."
Ms Hart, from Luxulyan, from Cornwall, said: "I guess he gets some very expensive presents and this was a first.
"Willow always wants to be a princess, so the fact she met a real live prince - she thought that was incredible."
The Prince of Wales visited the Royal Cornwall Show on Friday, where he toured the exhibits, spoke to visitors and sampled local produce, including Cornish Rattler cider.
Prince William, the Duke of Cornwall, is a patron of the Royal Cornwall Agricultural Association, the charity which organises the three-day show.
Willow was attending with her family, including brothers Jude, six, and Noah, eight.
Ms Hart, 65, said: "He was leaving the Duchy tent when he passed us.
"We were just watching and hoping we'd get a glimpse when there was a commotion in front of us and before we knew it Willow was handing out a Quaver.
"She's usually quite tight with her Quavers so it obviously meant a lot to her.
"He was a real gent, he thanked her and told her he'd never been given a Quaver as a gift."
Jodie Hart, Willow's mother, said: "She's had another packet of crisps today and said she wanted to share them with Prince William.
"We told her he was probably a little busy."
Ms Hart added: "What a lovely man he is and what a gentleman - our grandchildren were thrilled to see him, never mind talk to him.
"He just made it so important, it was lovely. His humanity shone through."

BBC Says It ‘Should Have Pulled' Livestream of Bob Vylan's Glastonbury Set: ‘The Antisemitic Sentiments Were Utterly Unacceptable'

The BBC has issued a statement regarding the controversy sparked by Bob Vylan's Glastonbury set on Saturday, with the broadcaster saying it 'should have pulled' the livestream of the performance. The punk-rap duo led the crowd in several chants during their show on Saturday afternoon — right before Irish rap group Kneecap's highly anticipated set on the West Holts stage — including 'death, death to the IDF [Israel Defense Forces].' In addition to the 'death to the IDF' chant, Bob Vylan also led the crowd in chanting 'free, free Palestine' and 'from the river to the sea, Palestine must be free.' 'The team were dealing with a live situation but with hindsight we should have pulled the stream during the performance. We regret this did not happen,' the BBC said on Monday. 'The BBC respects freedom of expression but stands firmly against incitement to violence. The antisemitic sentiments expressed by Bob Vylan were utterly unacceptable and have no place on our airwaves. In light of this weekend, we will look at our guidance around live events so we can be sure teams are clear on when it is acceptable to keep output on air.' On Sunday, Glastonbury organizers said they were 'appalled' by Bob Vylan's statements. 'Their chants very much crossed a line and we are urgently reminding everyone involved in the production of the festival that there is no place at Glastonbury for antisemitism, hate speech or incitement to violence,' the festival said in a statement. Later on Sunday, Bob Vylan put out a statement via Instagram with the caption 'I said what I said,' writing: 'It is incredibly important that we encourage and inspire future generations to pick up the torch that was passed to us. Let us display to them loudly and visibly the right thing to do when we want and need change. Let them see us marching in the streets, campaigning on ground level, organizing online and shouting about it on any and every stage that we are offered.' Representatives for Bob Vylan did not immediately respond to Variety's request for comment on the BBC's statement. BBC says it should have pulled livestream of rap group Bob Vylan's act over 'antisemitic' chants

LONDON (AP) — The BBC said Monday it should have pulled a livestream of rap group Bob Vylan's performance at Glastonbury Festival over 'antisemitic' chants against Israeli troops. The British broadcaster has come under heavy criticism for broadcasting the rap punk duo's performance Saturday, when rapper Bobby Vylan led crowds attending the U.K.'s largest summer music festival in chants of 'free, free Palestine' and 'death, death to the IDF,' the Israel Defense Forces. The BBC said Monday that it 'respects freedom of expression but stands firmly against incitement to violence.' 'The antisemitic sentiments expressed by Bob Vylan were utterly unacceptable and have no place on our airwaves,' it said. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer condemned the chants, saying there was no excuse for such 'appalling hate speech.' 'The BBC needs to explain how these scenes came to be broadcast,' Starmer said. Ofcom, the broadcasting regulator, also said it was 'very concerned' about the BBC livestream and said the broadcaster 'clearly has questions to answer.' The BBC said earlier in its defense that it had issued a warning on screen about 'very strong and discriminatory language' during the livestream. Bob Vylan, who formed in 2017, have released four albums addressing issues to do with racism, masculinity and class. Its two members both keep their real names secret for privacy reasons. In a statement posted on social media, Bobby Vylan said: 'Teaching our children to speak up for the change they want and need is the only way that we make this world a better place." More than 6,000 people have been killed and more than 20,000 injured in Gaza since a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas collapsed in March. Since the war began in October 2023 with a Hamas attack on Israel, Israeli attacks have killed more than 56,000 people and injured 132,000, according to Gaza's Health Ministry. It doesn't distinguish between civilians and combatants, but has said that women and children make up more than half the 56,000 dead. Israel says it only targets militants and blames civilian deaths on Hamas, accusing the militants of hiding among civilians, because they operate in populated areas.
