Woltemade to stay with Germany senior team for NL third place match
Forward Nick Woltemade will stay with the German senior national team for Sunday's Nations League match for third place and not move on to the under-21 team as originally planned.
The German Football Federation (DFB) said on Thursday it was decided after internal discussions that Woltemade will join the U21 side preparing for the June 11-28 European championships in Slovakia right after Sunday's game.

VfB Stuttgart's Woltemade, 24, was called up for the first time into the senior team by coach Julian Nagelsmann for the Nations League finals.
He earned his maiden cap right away in the starting 11 of Wednesday's 2-1 semi-final defeat against Portugal, and Nagelsmann said that Woltemade "made good use of his first 60 minutes."
Nagelsmann had initially said that Woltemade would now return to the U21 side as part of an agreement with their coach Antonio di Salvo.
Woltemade is seen as a key player in the U21 title ambitions but the senior team also wants to end the Nations League on a positive note with victory in Woltemade's Stuttgart home stadium, where title holders Spain or France will be the opponent.
Nagelsmann is missing several attacking players due to injury, such as Jamal Musiala, Kai Havertz and Tim Kleindienst.

Charley Hull Grinds To Contention In 'Really Good' Third Round At AIG Women's Open
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. Charley Hull made the most of the so-called moving day at the AIG Women's Open and closed the gap to first place by six strokes. The Englishwoman fired a third-round 66, climbing more than 20 spots on the leaderboard and entering the title race. Hull's performance included seven birdies and a bogey. The two-time LPGA Tour winner particularly shone on the front nine, where she carded five birdies and no bogeys. In fact, this is Hull's best round at the AIG Women's Open in more than a decade. Her previous 66 came in the third round of the 2014 edition at Royal Birkdale. "Really good [round]," Hull told the reporters after her performance. "Just made birdies when I gave myself an opportunity to make a birdie, apart from the last hole." (She carded par on the 18th.) Charley Hull of England plays her second shot on the 16th hole during the third round of the AIG Women's Open 2025 at Royal Porthcawl Golf Club on August 02, 2025 in Bridgend, Wales. Charley Hull of England plays her second shot on the 16th hole during the third round of the AIG Women's Open 2025 at Royal Porthcawl Golf Club on August 02, 2025 in Bridgend, European star was pleased with the result, saying she likes the situation she's in. "I just kind of enjoy chasing," she said. "It's quite fun. I like it. It's more fun that way. I like hunting someone down. It was good fun, and see what she (Miyu Yamashita, the current leader) does this afternoon and just focus again tomorrow." Hull is trying to win her first major championship, or at least clinch her second career top-10 finish at the AIG Women's Open. She co-led the event at Walton Heath two years ago, but couldn't find her best golf in the final round and finished second, six strokes behind winner Lilia Vu. However, the 29-year-old wasn't the only one to make a significant jump on the leaderboard. A Lim Kim (5-under for the round), Andrea Lee (5-under), Minami Katsu (7-under), and Megan Khang (4-under) all climbed to within four shots of the leader. The situation was very different for World No. 1 Nelly Korda, who dropped more than 20 spots on the leaderboard after carding 2-over for the round. Korda is now tied for 36th with a 54-hole score of even par. Yamashita remains in the lead amid her rookie season on the LPGA Tour, having won the Q-School last December. She won eight tournaments on the Japanese professional tour before heading to America. More Golf: PGA Tour Fan Favorite Shoots Season-Low Round to Take Lead At Wyndham

Harry Kane delivers his verdict on Luis Diaz after Liverpool star makes debut for Bayern following £65.5m transfer
Diaz made his debut against Lyon Had a decent outing at Allianz Arena Kane lavished praise on the Colombian Follow GOAL on WhatsApp! 🟢📱 WHAT HAPPENED? The friendly against Lyon marked Díaz's first appearance since completing his £65.5 million ($88 million) switch from Liverpool earlier this week, making him the third-most expensive acquisition in Bayern Munich's history. And while he didn't find the net or register an assist, Díaz left a strong impression on his teammates, particularly on Kane. WHAT KANE SAID Kane had glowing words for Diaz and told Sky Sport Germany: "Díaz did a great job today. We've only had a couple of training sessions together so far, but he seems hungry and lively. You can tell he's happy to be here. He's playing with a smile on his face. Today you could see how effective he is in the final third, and we'll need him this season – so I'm delighted he's here." The England star also spoke about communication with his new team-mate. He added: "His English is not too bad. He communicates well with the team. Hopefully his English and maybe his German as well picks up so some of the other players can talk to him as well. But with the coach talking English I don't think he has a problem" THE BIGGER PICTURE Although Liverpool were initially reluctant to part ways with Diaz, the sizeable financial offer from Bayern forced their hands. Now, Kane believes Diaz will further enhance Bayern's attack and added: "He's a fantastic player who obviously showed his quality in the Premier League - a really dangerous player with great end product as well. It's great to have him in the squad. I hope he settles in and we'll do our best to help him settle in as best as we can. Hopefully, he'll hit the ground running because we know what a fantastic player he is." WHAT NEXT FOR DIAZ? Díaz's next opportunity to impress will come in a highly anticipated pre-season clash when Bayern face Tottenham on August 7. The match will see Kane come up against his old club, a subplot sure to attract plenty of attention. For Diaz, it will be another chance to get on the scoresheet and make a statement early in his Bayern career.
