The comparison between the two films highlights the relatively tepid reception for the latest release, especially given the momentum built by fan anticipation. Meanwhile, another big-ticket movie, Sikandar, starring Salman Khan, opened to a far stronger box office response with a collection of ₹26 crore, significantly outpacing Aamir's new venture.Helmed by director R.S. Prasanna , Sitaare Zameen Par acts as a spiritual continuation of Taare Zameen Par, which was deeply loved for its sensitive portrayal of a dyslexic child's journey. Now, filmmaker AR Murugadoss has broken his silence on the film's underwhelming reception, sharing his perspective on what might have gone wrong. Sikandar tells the story of a man called Sanjay Rajkot, who takes on a corrupt politician, upending his life. AR Murugadoss introspects The filmmaker spoke about the film during the promotion of his upcoming project, Madharaasi, where he shared that he blamed his inability to understand Hindi as the reason behind the film's failure. AR Murugadoss said, 'When we make films in our mother tongue, it gives us strength. We know what is happening here. Today there's a trend going and suddenly the audience gets connected with that trend. When we shift language, we don't know what the youngsters are enjoying in that language. All we need is a script to believe it.' He added, 'For once, I can take up Telugu films, but Hindi may not work for us because after we write the script, they translate into English. Then it is again translated in Hindi. We can only guess what they are saying, but we are exactly not sure about what is happening. Released on July 24, with paid previews on July 23, the movie has completed seven days in the theatres but is yet to touch the Rs 100-crore mark. According to on Wednesday, the film collected Rs 1.25 crore net in India, across all languages, bringing its total one-week collection to Rs 80.35 crore. Looking at the actor's fan following, Hari Hara Veera Mallu opened with Rs 12.75 crore on Day 1 and collected Rs 34.75 crore, Rs 8 crore and Rs 9.15 crore on Day 2, Day 3 and Day 4, respectively. However, the number didn't show any big growth since its first Monday and minted just Rs 2.1 crore. This means it is yet to beat Sailesh Kolanu's Nani-starrer HIT: The Third Case's Rs 80.75 crore lifetime domestic box office collection.
