Iran says it would resume nuclear talks with US if guaranteed no further attacks
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in a speech to Tehran-based foreign diplomats that Iran has always been ready and will be ready in the future for talks about its nuclear program, but, 'assurance should be provided that in case of a resumption of talks, the trend will not lead to war.'
Referring to the 12-day Israeli bombardment of Iran's nuclear and military sites, and the US strike on June 22, Araghchi said that if the US and others wish to resume talks with Iran, 'first of all, there should be a firm guarantee that such actions will not be repeated.

The attack on Iran's nuclear facilities has made it more difficult and complicated to achieve a solution based on negotiations.'

Following the strikes, Iran suspended cooperation with the UN nuclear watchdog, which led to the departure of inspectors.
Araghchi said that under Iranian law, the country will answer the agency's request for cooperation 'case by case,' based on Iran's interests.
He also said any inspection by the agency should be done based on Iran's 'security' concerns as well as the safety of the inspectors.

'The risk of proliferation of radioactive ingredients and an explosion of ammunition that remains from the war in the attacked nuclear sites is serious,' he said.
He also reiterated Iran's position on the need to continue enriching uranium on its soil.
President Donald Trump has insisted that cannot happen.

Israel claims it acted because Tehran was within reach of a nuclear weapon.
US intelligence agencies and the International Atomic Energy Agency had assessed Iran last had an organized nuclear weapons program in 2003, though Tehran had been enriching uranium up to 60% — a short, technical step away from weapons-grade levels of 90%.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in an interview published Monday said the US airstrikes so badly damaged his country's nuclear facilities that Iranian authorities still have not been able to access them to survey the destruction.

Iran claims its president was injured in Israeli airstrike last month
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian suffered a minor leg injury while escaping an Israeli airstrike last month, according to Iran's semi-official Fars news agency. The alleged attack happened on June 16 at a secure government facility in Western Tehran, where Pezeshkian was holding a meeting with other senior officials, according to the outlet, which is managed by Iran's powerful Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Six bombs or missiles reportedly targeted entry and exit points to block attempts to evacuate the building and disrupt air flow inside. Power was also cut to the targeted floor, after the blasts, the report said. The officials escaped through an emergency hatch, according to the report. Pezeshkian and several others reportedly suffered minor leg injuries during the escape. The report claimed the attack was similar to an Israeli plan that led to the assassination of Hezbollah leader Seyed Hassan Nasrallah in September. The alleged strike was said to have happened on the fourth day of the 12-day war between Israel and Iran. Israel has said its military targeted some of Iran's top military leaders and nuclear scientists in a series of air strikes aimed at preventing the regime from realizing its goal of producing nuclear weapons. On June 22, the U.S. launched its own stealth strike on three of Iran's key nuclear enrichment sites. The 12-day conflict between Israel and Iran ended with a U.S.-brokered cease-fire.

Iran says it's considering US offer to restart nuclear talks
Iran's foreign minister said the U.S. is trying to revive nuclear talks with Tehran while stressing that his country is in no hurry to resume negotiations. 'The Americans insist on returning to the negotiating table,' Abbas Araghchi said in televised remarks Saturday, adding that Iran has received 'multiple messages.' Tehran is weighing its options regarding the timing, location, and structure of potential talks, but is 'in no rush to enter into reckless negotiations.' Araghchi served as lead negotiator in Oman-mediated talks with the U.S., which collapsed after Israel launched a surprise attack on Iran's nuclear sites on June 13. The strikes killed several top military and nuclear officials, and hit densely populated urban areas as well as Tehran's Evin Prison. Araghchi's remarks follow U.S. President Donald Trump's Monday dinner with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, where he said he was open to lifting sanctions on Iran. His special envoy, Steve Witkoff, who led the U.S. delegation in the earlier talks, said a meeting with Iran was expected within the week.
