The 516-mile route attracts thousands of tourists every year, but many still end up on the wrong side of people living there.
There are constant rows erupting during tourist season about the behaviour of visitors - especially those in campervans.
A common gripe is that the mobile homes are not being parked correctly along the Highland roads.
And one incident of bad parking this week has left residents in Ullapool unimpressed.
A large motorhome was spotted sitting stationary across four parking bays outside a shop on a road.
And locals were furious because it meant that three other motors were stopped from using any of the spaces.

Many slammed the driver after a photo of the motorhome was shared in the Facebook group NC500 The Land Weeps.
The post was captioned: "Outstanding parking."
At first, many tried to give the tourist the benefit of the doubt by pointing out that the large campervan would not fit in a single parking space.
But others explained that a few meters down from where they stopped was a car park specifically for motorhomes with larger bays.

Users quickly flocked to the comments to hit out at the driver, with one person saying: "Selfish prat."
Another added: "Tell me you can't drive your hired motorhome without telling me you can't drive your hired motorhome."
Someone else wrote: "Pathetic and selfish driving!!!"
While a fourth simply posted: "Entitled!!"
And a fifth chimed in: "Please don't make excuses for this selfish act, I see someone says a few yards away there's a car park for camper vans. Self entitled/do what they please yet again".
It comes after councillors decided to move to impose an overnight ban on campervans using council car parks along the NC500 route earlier this year.
The decision followed complaints from locals about waste dumping and anti-social behaviour.
Highland Council's Sutherland County Committee unanimously agreed to recommend the ban at two key car parks where overnight stays are currently permitted.
At present, these car parks, located in Durness and Golspie on the NC500 route, allow campervans to stay overnight for £10 per night.
Visitors are currently restricted to a single night's stay and are prohibited from returning within 72 hours.
While daytime parking would remain unaffected, the council's parking enforcement team would begin policing overnight stays.

This means that every junction with a pavement is effectively a pedestrian crossing. But it seems many drivers remain unaware of this rule and often ignore waiting pedestrians - which, in turn, leaves them at risk of being charged with careless driving if an accident occurs. Indeed, the maximum penalty for careless driving is nine points on a driving licence and an eye-watering £5,000 fine. Of course, motorists must also give way to 'people on a zebra crossing and people walking and cycling on a parallel crossing'. BLISSFULLY UNAWARE For many, the change to the rules really did seem to pass them by. Online discussions on places like X or Reddit reveal wide-reaching confusion and frustration around the rule. Some drivers have pointed out that the term "should" in the Highway Code's wording has created ambiguity - compared to the more definitive "must." As Bucke highlighted, many drivers are seemingly unaware of these changes because they haven't revisited the Highway Code since passing their theory tests. He also warns that careless driving offences could lead to increased insurance premiums.

But according to a new report from car finance giant Carmoola, millions are simply dreading getting behind the wheel - due to the country's worsening roads and traffic. A particular issue is the UK's so-called 'pothole plague', contributing to a third of drivers (32%) saying they no longer enjoy driving. Hot-headed road users - described as 'aggressive or impatient drivers' - are the main reason half (49%) of Brits have become disillusioned, while 46% claim the stress of driving has taken all the joy out of it. Aidan Rushby, chief executive of Carmoola, said: 'We have uncovered a very human truth. 'That driving, once a symbol of freedom and adventure, has become something many people now dread.' Belfast drivers are the most ticked off when it comes to the conditions of their roads, with 26% saying they're overly frustrated with the state of potholes. Meanwhile, when it comes to congestion, 38% of Glaswegians say bumper-to-bumper congestion is what riles them up the most. These statistics highlight why only a quarter of road users view driving as a source of escape, while 34% see it merely as a practical means to get from A to B. Indeed, many say they simply find driving boring and would choose almost anything else above getting behind the wheel. More than half of local streets have less than 15 years of life left, says a survey by the Asphalt Industry Alliance. But, on average, they are re-surfaced only once every 93 years. AIA boss David Giles laid bare the scale of the problem, explaining how, despite £20billion being thrown at road maintenance in the past decade, the short-term approach has failed. He said: 'There have been no significant improvements in structural road conditions.' The AIA claims getting roads back to ideal condition would take 12 years and cost a corking £16.81 billion. Its survey also found 94 per cent of local authority highway teams believe there has been no improvement to their roads over the past year, with two thirds saying they have got worse. And despite councils spending £137.4million filling 1.9million potholes last year, the repair backlog continues to balloon. The Department for Transport said: 'We're investing £1.6billion to help councils resurface local roads and fix the equivalent of up to seven million extra potholes over the next financial year.'

However, the one place that stood out with the most comments of support was The Square & Compass in Worth Matravers. One reader said: "Square & Compass. Best Dorset beer and amazing views". Another wrote: "Square n compass on a sunny Saturday afternoon atmosphere is awesome". A third simply posted: "Definitely the Square and Compass". The Scott Arms in Kingston also got a few mentions, as one said: "The Scott's arms is a great vintage pub with an amazing view over looking Bournemouth and Poole bay!!" It offers a number of real ales (including locally-brewed) options, well-kept cider, a "robust" wine selection and a "well-stocked range of spirits" according to its website. Discussing its food options, it says: "Expect freshly made pies, rare breed pork such as Mangalista on bone pork chop and fish specials such as Cornish hake. "There's hearty soups and fondue nights in the winter and fresh meats, fish and seafood with plenty of locally-grown vegetables and salads in the summer." It has been mostly well-received with a 4.2/5 score from 1,533 Google Reviews and a 3.2/5 score from 1,273 Tripadvisor ratings. The Botany Bay over in Winterborne Zelston got some love from readers also, with one saying it does "amazing grub". Named after the famous bay in Australia to which British convicts were once deported, The Botany Bay describes itself as having "rustic appeal and a welcoming atmosphere". Its website adds: "A carefully curated drink menu includes locally brewed ales, ciders, and an extensive wine list, ensuring something for every palate." Visitors absolutely love this spot, with it having earned a 4.6/5 score on Tripadvisor from 145 reviews. Quite a few places around Dorset got one or two mentions, with some readers waxing lyrical about them. This included The Anchor Inn in Seatown, as one wrote: "The Anchor inn Seatown. Beautiful location, food is ace, and great service. Thoroughly recommend."
