Sara Ali Khan
's transformation from weighing 96 kg to a fit 47 kg is one of the most talked about journeys in Bollywood. Her incredible weight loss story is not just about looking slim on screen but about reclaiming her health, confidence, and mental well-being.
In different interviews over the years, the actress has openly shared how she tackled her weight struggles, what pushed her to finally change, and why staying fit is still an everyday effort.
'I wasn't overweight; I broke the weighing scale'
Sara once revealed that during her college days, she was stuck in a loop of unhealthy habits. Talking about this in an old interview with
Ranveer
Allahbadia, she said, 'I wasn't overweight; I broke the weighing scale…What happens a lot of times is that you can go into a downward spiral.
So, when you wake up in the morning and weigh 85 kgs and nothing really fits, you are like 85 to 96 - what's the difference does it really make? Which is the worst way to be, and that's what started happening to me. I was in college, and I was already fat, so now fatter means what - fat is fat, so let me just eat that brownie.
'
'It was hormonally affecting me'
But it wasn't just about getting movie offers. Sara also knew her health was taking a hit. She said, 'I was huge, man.

It was not healthy on any level. It was hormonally affecting me, which still happens. Every time I overeat or when I am touching that 60 kg mark, you can start seeing that I am not okay.'
'I really have to be extremely mindful of what I am eating'
Even after dropping the weight, Sara says her journey didn't stop there. She still has to work hard to keep herself in check. 'My things became chunky, my face became big, that really does happen. I really have to be extremely mindful of what I am eating.
It's very important for me to stay on track with weight,' she shared.
What pushed Sara to finally lose weight?
When asked what made her shed over 45 kg, Sara was clear about who gave her that final push. It was none other than filmmaker
Karan Johar
. The director wanted to offer her a film role and suggested she lose 'half of her' weight. This strong nudge set Sara on her path to a healthier version of herself.
'It affects your mental health and hormones'
Sara believes it's crucial for people struggling with their weight to understand that it's not just a matter of appearance. She said, 'You definitely should keep a check on what you are eating because it affects more than just your visual appearance; it affects your hormonal balance, and that is extremely important.'
On the work front, Sara Ali Khan will next be seen in 'Metro... In Dino.'

Metro In Dino Final Advance Booking: Anurag Basu's ensemble sells 18500 tickets in top national chains for day 1

Dino, directed by Anurag Basu and starring a host of amazing actors like Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Pankaj Tripathi, Konkona Sen Sharma, Ali Fazal, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Anupam Kher, Nina Gupta, Saswata Chatterjee and others, hits theatres tomorrow, that is on the 4th of July, 2025. The film has been lucky to get good showcasing for the interest it has been able to generate prior to release, given the direct clash with Jurassic World: Rebirth and semi-clash with holdover titles like F1, Sitaare Zameen Par and Maa. Dino Has Sold 18,500 Tickets In Top Indian National Chains For Day 1 Dino has managed to sell 18500 tickets in top national chains like PVRInox and Cinepolis for day 1, and it is below par. The movie should have had double the number of tickets sold for the opening day, if not more; since it is firstly the sequel of an acclaimed film like Life In A Metro, and secondly because it is a pricey film that really requires strong theatrical performance to breakeven. Dino Needs To Gross Atleast Rs 75 Crore Worldwide To Breakeven Based on Pinkvilla's analysis on the Dino's costs, the movie needs to gross atleast Rs 75 crore worldwide to ensure that the movie doesn't lose anyone associated with the film, any money. The film was sanctioned for Rs 65 crore, but the budget shot up due to reshoots. With a Rs 85 crore cost of production and Rs 15 crore p&a expenses (bringing the total costs to Rs 100 crore), the movie has recovered Rs 70 crore from non-theatrical revenue sources. Rs 75 crore gross worldwide collections will ensure the Rs 30 crore share required for the movie to breakeven, is managed. Anurag Basu Enjoys A Dedicated Following In Metros Across India Anurag Basu enjoys a dedicated following, especially in metros across India. If the movie clicks, it shall have a decent run in the big cities. The director has directed memorable and successful films like Barfi! and Life In A Metro in the past and he needs to deliver again with Dino, to prove that he is still a bankable director with substantial theatrical pull. Anurag Basu's Next After Dino Anurag Basu's next after Dino, a musical-tragedy with Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela is already underway. The movie was to release in Diwali 2025 but it is likely that the movie will postpone.

Out Of School, Into Adulthood: Voices Of Lost Childhoods Echo At Conclave

New Delhi: It started off like any other event — a quiet room, a screen, a few rows of chairs. But everything changed as soon as a catchy song filled the hall — honest and straight from the heart. It talked about child labour , abuse under POCSO, and the kind of childhood that ends too soon. "Even saying 'POCSO' was tough," one child said. "But now we know what it means, and what to do." What gave the lyrics meaning was the fact that the children who sang them were right there in the room. These weren't just performers. Some had dropped out of school. Some were forced into adulthood too soon. Some were trying to return to school. Some already had. Each of them carried a story that lingered long after the music ended. Like Sunil (name changed), who used to spend his days picking through garbage. School was never an option for him till Childhood Enhancement Through Training and Action (Chetna), an NGO, helped him get into Class III. That was the first time he held a pencil instead of a scrap. Or Kamla (name changed), whose eyes brimmed with emotion even before her story began. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Free P2,000 GCash eGift UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo She dropped out twice — first because her family couldn't afford to keep her in school, and then after she was pushed into child marriage. Now, she's holding on to the hope of starting again. Until then, art and craft are her escape. Far away from her home in Bihar, Anushka (name changed) moved to Delhi just last year. Now, in Class IX, this is the first time she's seeing what a real school looks like. Officials from key departments like the women and child development and education, and child rights activists all gathered for the stakeholder convergence organised by Chetna in collaboration with NACG EVAC. The discussion focused on how systems can better support children like them . A comic book created by kids, "Chotu and Shera," reiterated the same struggles while advocating for child rights. But the question remains, how to strengthen the system on the ground. "We've submitted recommendations to the secretary, including the need for a Delhi State Child Protection Policy, new Juvenile Justice Rules, and a State Creche Policy," said Madhavi Kotwal Samson, state convenor of NACG EVAC. "We're glad the suggestions were received positively." Responding to the proposed suggestions, women and child development secretary Rashmi Singh stressed the importance of creating the right communication channels between children and stakeholders, adding, "No child should be left behind. These children are smiling — and that's what we should aim for ." Sanjay Gupta, director of Chetna, highlighted the importance of such meets in laying a strong foundation. "Delhi, as the capital, has a unique opportunity to showcase exemplary models in child participation, development and protection." However, the way to a brighter future for the kids is fraught with challenges. Pankaj Bhatia, a cluster coordinator of the West Delhi district, said that once, a girl stood before a mobile awareness van with tears in her eyes. The van, part of the Sandesh Vahan initiative, played videos about the right to education and the joy of learning. When asked why she was crying, she simply said, "I want to go to school." But her reality was harsher — she stayed home to care for her younger siblings while her parents worked. It took a determined cluster coordinator, Pankaj Bhatia, to enrol the siblings in an anganwadi. A recent survey conducted by Samagra Shiksha identified around 11,000-12,000 children who dropped out or were never enrolled. "This time, a standard operating procedure was released because documentation was a major hurdle in the previous years. However, despite identifying the children, enrolling them is a separate challenge altogether," said Sunita Yadav, coordinator, out-of-school children, Samagra Shiksha. For Nahar Singh, joint director (retd), SCERT, the issue isn't just about enrolment. It's about the integrity of the system itself. "Where are the remaining kids?" he asked, pointing out that daily attendance in govt schools hovers around 72%. Some of this, he says, is due to manipulations by parents who admit the same child to multiple schools using different names. On the ground, those connected directly to the school system, like Simmi Sachdeva, former principal, NDMC, and OSD to director, NDMC Education, are trying to create ecosystems that make school a place children want to come to.

Want to bring Disneyland to Gurgaon, says Saini, unveils plan for big tourism push

Gurgaon: The city could play host to India's Disneyland amusement park, chief minister Nayab Singh Saini has said, unveiling ambitious plans to develop areas off the Western Peripheral (KMP) Expressway as tourist destinations. Saini said govt was in talks with officials from Disney and has identified 500 acres of land near Pachgaon Chowk in Manesar for the project. A Disneyland in NCR will be "game-changing", the CM said, after meeting Union culture and tourism minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in Delhi on Wednesday. He said the entertainment hub will bring economic, cultural and social benefits, not only to the state, but the country too. "The project will generate thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities and bring major changes to the area. It will attract international tourists too," Saini said. The site in Manesar is strategically located along KMP Expressway and Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor (HORC). People from across NCR can easily visit," Saini said. The Global City project is a 1,000-acre mini-city that the state govt plans to build across sectors 36, 36B, 37 and 37B. Apart from links to the Delhi-Gurgaon and Dwarka expressways, the project will be based on a walk-to-work concept, and all facilities and services will be easily available. Separately, Haryana govt is planning to expand the scale of International Gita Mahotsav, an annual event in Kurukshetra, and organise three melas, instead of one, at Surajkund every year. "Considering the popularity of the Surajkund Mela, govt is planning to organise a Diwali mela and a book fair at Surajkund as well… We have also sought support from the Union tourism ministry and the central govt to organise Gita Mahotsav on a grand scale," he said. The CM added, "Together, these projects will firmly establish Haryana as a tourism hub." Disneyland, if it goes ahead, will be the first to be built in collaboration with the animation giant in India. Earlier this Feb, the Maharashtra govt had announced plans to develop a park inspired by the Disneyland theme in Navi Mumbai. In 1989, then Haryana CM Om Prakash Chautala had proposed to set up Disneyland in Gurgaon but the project was eventually shelved amid opposition by other political parties and farmers whose land would have to be acquired. INLD national president Abhay Singh Chautala said on Thursday BJP must explain its change in stand on establishing Disneyland in the city. "BJP was supporting INLD govt in 1989 but it sided with Congress to oppose the project back then," Abhay said.
