IND vs ENG: Jaiswal has the game to succeed in England, feels Rahane

Weeks after speculation swirled around a reported fallout during the Ranji Trophy season, former India vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane has thrown his support behind Yashasvi Jaiswal ahead of India's five-Test series in England. "Personally, I'm really looking forward to seeing Yashasvi Jaiswal do well because opening the batting in England is really important," Rahane said on his YouTube channel. He praised Jaiswal's versatility at the top of the order: "He can control one end and also go on the attack when needed." Since debuting in July 2023 in the West Indies, Jaiswal has become India's preferred Test opener, while Rahane has remained on the sidelines since his last appearance in 2022.
Bumrah, Siraj hold the key to India's bowling firepower
Rahane also spotlighted India's pace duo—Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj—as pivotal to the team's success in England. "They have the responsibility to lead the attack," he said. While Siraj adds energy and consistency, Rahane expects Bumrah to take command when things get tough. "We all know Bumrah is a proven match-winner. Now I want to see him embrace that extra responsibility," he added.
India haven't won a Test series in England since 2007, a feat accomplished only twice before—in 1971 and 1986.
Shubman Gill's Test leadership to face first real test
With Shubman Gill leading the team, Rahane acknowledged the challenge of transitioning from T20 captaincy to the demands of Test leadership. "In Tests, you have to stay one or two steps ahead—talk to your bowlers, plan thoroughly," he said.
Still, the seasoned campaigner sounded optimistic. "It's going to be a challenge, but I'm sure Shubman will do well—as both a skipper and a batter."
As the series kicks off at Headingley, Rahane's words carry weight—not just as advice, but as a call to India's next generation to rise to the occasion.

Not Virat Kohli or MS Dhoni: Neeraj Chopra picks THIS star player can play Javelin, his name is.......

Two-time Olympic medalist and current world javelin champion Neeraj Chopra, in a special episode, described cricketer Jasprit Bumrah as a player who can succeed in javelin throw. In a Star Sports show, hosted by Navjot Singh Sidhu, Neeraj was asked which player in Indian cricket can succeed in his sport. Many people expected him to name Virat Kohli, but he surprised everyone by naming Bumrah. Neeraj Chopra said, "I think it will be a fast bowler. And that's why I would say that a fully fit Jasprit Bumrah will be right for this game." He clarified that fast bowlers have all the characteristics that are needed for javelin throw. Chopra further said that fast bowlers have explosive strength, body coordination and control over speed, which is very important in javelin throw. This is the reason why he considered Bumrah to be the most suitable. Neeraj Chopra won the silver medal at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, while he won the gold medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Given his background, his assessment is considered very important. This statement comes at a time when Jasprit Bumrah has caught everyone's attention by taking five wickets in the first innings of the India vs England Test match played at Headingley, Leeds. His performance was very impressive. Image credit: X (Formerly Twitter) Although India lost the Test match by five wickets, Bumrah's first innings bowling was historic. He set the record for the most five-wicket hauls by any Indian bowler in England and equalled Kapil Dev, who has 12 five-wicket hauls on foreign soil. According to some reports, Bumrah may be rested from the second Test match due to workload management. If this happens, it could prove to be a big blow to Team India's bowling unit.

Jasprit Bumrah Rekindles Hopes For 2nd Test Appearance, Bowls Full Tilt In Nets

Last Updated: Jasprit Bumrah is said to have bowled 'full tilt' in the nets on Friday with his availability for the 2nd Test in Edgbaston set to be decided soon. Despite contrasting reports floating around of Jasprit Bumrah's availability for the second Test between India and England at Edgbaston, the pacer is keeping everyone guessing by putting in complete effort at the nets. According to ESPNcricinfo, he bowled 'full tilt' for over half an hour at the nets on Saturday (June 28). Bumrah had chosen to sit out from the nets on Friday, causing further rumors across India. He, skipper Shubman Gill, and head coach Gautam Gambhir have already confirmed that the pacer is likely to play only three of the five Tests this series to manage his workload, and a decision on whether Edgbaston could be the second hasn't been made public. The report said it'll be taken based on how Bumrah feels about his body. The Test will begin on Wednesday (July 2) as India aim to come back from the heavy five-wicket defeat in the first match at Headingley. The report further said that Gill, vice-captain Rishabh Pant and openers KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal were absent from the optional net session. The focus was also on batting practice for India's lower-order, including frontline pacers, in light of twin collapses of 7 for 41 and 6 for 31 at Headingley. Sunday will be an off-day for the team before an extensive session on Monday, followed by a lighter day on the eve of the Test. Other reports also claim that left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav bowled and batted on Saturday. India missed his skills at Headingley, especially because all-rounder Shardul Thakur couldn't contribute much. But it's unclear whether the management will go against Gautam Gambhir's desired formula of safe batting depth to include an aggressive bowling option. If Bumrah misses out, India will rely on Mohammed Siraj (who himself has had an immense workload in recent months) to lead the attack. Akash Deep and Arshdeep Singh are the pace options available on the bench. India have never won a Test at Edgbaston and have an uphill task ahead of them considering the hosts would be strengthened, too, with the likes of Jofra Archer and Gus Atkinson set to be available.
