New Delhi:
The Delhi High Court has allowed actor Rajpal Yadav's plea to travel to Melbourne, Australia between June 27 and July 5 for the promotion of upcoming film "Mera Kale Rang Da Yaar".
On June 23, Justice Rajneesh Kumar Gupta perused the invitation letter and tickets while observing Mr Yadav was previously allowed to travel abroad by the trial court.
As a rider, Mr Yadav was directed to furnish Rs 1 lakh in fixed deposit receipt, keep his cell phone operational and inform the investigating officer of any other contact details.
"Passport of the applicant lying deposited with the trial court is directed to be released on the condition that the passport shall be deposited back once he is back in India," the court said, posting the matter on July 8.
In June last year, the high court temporarily suspended Mr Yadav's conviction in a cheque bounce case subject to him adopting "sincere and genuine measures" to explore the possibility of reaching an amicable settlement" with the opposite party.
At that time, Mr Yadav's counsel said it was a genuine transaction where production of a movie was financed but the movie bombed at the box office, resulting in huge financial losses.
Mr Yadav, the counsel said, had already suffered imprisonment for about three months in other related civil execution proceedings.
The court then observed the petitioners, including Mr Yadav, were "not hardened criminals".
The matter is presently under consideration in the Delhi High Court Mediation Centre.

Newlywed Bride Dies By Suicide Following Dowry Harassment; Family Had Given Volvo Car, 800 Gm Gold

New Delhi: In a shocking incident, 27-year-old Ridhanya, daughter of garment company owner Annadurai, died by suicide in Tiruppur, Tamil Nadu, allegedly due to dowry harassment by her husband and in-laws. Ridhanya had married Kavinkumar in April this year, with a dowry of 100 sovereigns (800 g) of gold jewelry and a Volvo car worth Rs 70 lakh. According to an India Today report, before her death, Ridhanya sent seven audio messages to her father, detailing the alleged abuse and torture she suffered at the hands of her husband and in-laws. In one of the messages, she said, "I'm unable to bear their mental torture daily. I don't know whom to tell about this. Those who listen want me to compromise, claiming life will be like this only, and are not able to understand my suffering." She also mentioned that her husband and in-laws planned to marry her to someone named Kavin, adding to her distress. Ridhanya expressed her desperation, saying, "I don't want to be a burden to you all my life. This time I did not make any mistakes. I don't like this life. They are assaulting me mentally while he is torturing me physically." In a heart-wrenching message to her father, she said, "You and Mom are my world. Until my last breath, you have been my hope, but I hurt you badly. You are unable to openly say this, still, you are not able to see me like this. I can understand your suffering. I'm sorry, Father, everything is over. I'm leaving." Ridhanya's body was sent for post-mortem, and her relatives gathered outside the hospital, demanding justice. The police have registered a case and arrested her husband, Kavinkumar, father-in-law Eswaramoorthy, and mother-in-law Chithradevi. Further investigation is underway.

Delhi Cop Was Caught Taking Bribe. He Then Suffered Chest Pain, Hopsitalised

New Delhi: A Head Constable of Delhi Police, currently under treatment at Burari Hospital, suffered chest pain after he was caught red-handed while taking a bribe at Burari Police Station. According to the Vigilance Department of Delhi Police, a head constable was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 and subsequently suffered chest pain requiring hospitalisation. The incident occurred at the Burari police station in North Delhi on Friday night. The team rushed him to Burari Hospital, and now he is under treatment, officials added. A team from the Vigilance department had laid a trap for the head constable after a local businessman complained about the officer demanding a bribe of Rs 75,000 to not remove the mobile tower from his terrace. The complainant was instructed to offer the bribe in three instalments of Rs 25,000 each. The head constable was arrested while accepting the bribe, but he suffered chest pain and was rushed to the hospital. According to Vigilance, the officer is currently stable and will be arrested once discharged from the hospital. An investigation is underway to determine the full extent of the officer's involvement in the bribery case. Earlier, the Rouse Avenue Court had granted bail to a traffic cop on June 14 who was allegedly collecting bribe money through a man, being used as a helper, from transporters and other persons in the Samaypur Badli Traffic Circle. The helper, identified as Dalip Kumar, filed a complaint at the Vigilance Branch, claiming that the accused cop had been using him to collect bribe money for the past two years, though he was not aware of it. An FIR was registered by the vigilance, and accused Assistant Sub-Inspector Vijay Kumar was arrested red-handed on May 21, 2025, when he was receiving Rs 30,000 collected by Dalip Kumar. Special Judge Atul Krishna Agrawal granted bail to Vijay Kumar after considering the facts, including the custody of the accused and parity with the co-accused, who is enlarged on bail. The complainant has retracted his allegations in the complaint. "Considering the period of judicial custody of the accused as well as the fact that the recovery whatsoever has already been effected, and also the fact that co-accused Head Ct. Surender has already been granted bail by the Learned Concerned Court vide order dated 06.06.2025, accused Vijay Kumar is admitted to bail on his furnishing a personal bond in the sum of Rs. 50,000 with one surety in the like amount," Special Judge Agrawal ordered on June 12.
