Shane Warne vs Muttiah Muralitharan?: Who does Brian Lara admire more? West Indies legend breaks it down
West Indies cricket legend
Brian Lara
has declared
Shane Warne
as the superior spinner when compared to
Muttiah Muralitharan
, despite acknowledging that Murali posed more pressure while bowling. Lara shared these insights during his appearance on the 'Stick to Cricket' podcast, hosted by former England cricketers Phil Tuffnell, David Llyld, Alastair Cook, and Michael Vaughan.
"Shane Warne is the best. He is the best. And you know, I would walk out to bat against Murali, and I am confused. You know, I got that 688 runs in three matches and the first half an hour of Murali bowling, I would be confused," Lara stated on the podcast.

"I play a sweep shot down to deep backwards square for a single, you know I play a sweep shot again and then all of a sudden, you know, because the other guys did not read him. He is like 'Oh, take out the no bat pad for Lara.
Nothing. Nothing. Let's move everybody up'. And all of a sudden, the pressure came off. But Murali gave me more pressure than Shane," Lara explained.
"That is why I rate him higher, because I think he was mentally stronger. And obviously with his bowling attack and the pitches that he bowled on, which favoured, you know, the McGraths and McDermotts, for him to pick up that amount of wickets, very, very special. I think his strength was his mental thing," Lara added.

Transgender track star rushes to the court after being banned from the women's category
Sadie Schreiner sues Princeton University for banning her from women's category: Image via X Sports and discrimination can't go hand in hand. Sports ask to expand the horizon, not to shrink it. But when it causes some unfair advantage to a section over others, discrimination might be the answer to settle for, no matter if that, in any way, can't sit well with athletes like Sadie Schreiner. The transgender woman athlete, however, isn't one to brood about that seething dissatisfaction in silence; she's, in fact, taking it to the next stage against Princeton University, New Jersey. The 21-year-old runner is charging a lawsuit. Sadie Schreiner puts Princeton University on notice Reports suggested Princeton University barred the athlete from taking part in a women's race held on May 3 at the Larry Ellis Invitational. Officials allegedly informed Schreiner 15 minutes before the race kicked off that the event would be specifically restricted to females, not trans women. "I do not want to assume, but you are transgender,'' a Princeton official told Schreiner, as per the suit, typically leading it to the controversy that holds that official accountable to ' 'blatant and willful disregard of rights as a transgender woman…thereby causing Sadie Schreiner foreseeable and emotional harm.'' But there's another side to the story. It's easier for a trans woman with equal physical strength to a man to easily dominate women in any athleric competition. To limit this massive loophole in the law, President Trump issued an executive order, separating trans women from the core women's game back in February. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Hear better, live easier Amplifon Book Now Undo Now, Sadie is challenging not only the Princeton school authority but also the president's order, straight away. Sadie Schreiner makes it a point to stick to her ground "Among all the hurdles transfers usually have, there is an extra layer because it is trans, 50% of the country banned me from participating and that meant I couldn't attend any of those colleges even if they reached out to me with a full ride," Schreiner imposed her own logic over the national new norm back in December last year when many schools, sports governing bodies started to go by the president rule, banning number of trans athletes from the elite female category competitions. LGBT advocacy and human rights organisations might have her back in the fight, but it reflects a more critical question of social sentiment vs athletic fairness. The two-time All-American in the 200- and 400-meter events has been aiming to make it to the 2032 US Olympic team. It's awful how she felt derogated after she was left running alone around the track by a single executive move. She said she felt 'defeated' listening to the news for the first time. The 21-year-old can't see herself compete in anything but in the track and field events at any point. While her future looks to be in severe jeopardy, hopefully, there will be some middle path, safeguarding the interests of all parties. IND vs ENG 4th Test: Rohit Sharma's WTC record in danger! Rishabh Pant closes in on massive feat
India's Rishabh Pant (AP Photo/Richard Pelham) India and England are set to face off in the fourth Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy at Old Trafford in Manchester after a 9-day break following India's loss at Lord's. The upcoming match is crucial for India as they need a win to level the series 2-2, with wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant approaching Rohit Sharma 's World Test Championship (WTC) run record for India. Pant currently has 2677 runs in WTC history for India, trailing behind Rohit Sharma's record of 2716 runs. The wicketkeeper-batsman needs 40 runs in the fourth Test to surpass the former India Test captain's milestone. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! The WTC run-scoring chart for Indian batsmen shows Rohit Sharma leading with 2716 runs in 69 innings, followed by Rishabh Pant with 2677 runs in 67 innings. Virat Kohli holds the third position with 2617 runs in 79 innings, while current captain Shubman Gill has accumulated 2500 runs in 65 innings. Ravindra Jadeja rounds out the top five with 2212 runs in 64 innings. Pant's availability for the fourth Test was initially uncertain due to a finger injury sustained while keeping wickets during the first innings at Lord's. This injury forced him to hand over the wicketkeeping duties to Dhruv Jurel for the remainder of that match. After Lord's heartbreak, Team India start training for Manchester, in London! According to Sky Sports, Pant has been cleared to play in the fourth Test at Manchester. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like No annual fees for life UnionBank Credit Card Apply Now Undo This news was further confirmed by team captain Shubman Gill after the third Test defeat. "Rishabh went for scans. There is no major injury, so he should be fine for the fourth Test in Manchester," Gill stated. The upcoming match at Old Trafford holds significant importance for the Indian team, as a loss would result in an insurmountable series deficit with one match remaining. India's chances of leveling the series will partly depend on Pant's performance, considering his current form and the potential record-breaking opportunity before him. Poll Will Rishabh Pant surpass Rohit Sharma's WTC run record in the fourth Test? Yes, he will definitely surpass it No, he won't surpass it Not sure The match at Manchester represents a critical juncture in the series, with India looking to bounce back from their disappointing loss at Lord's. Pant's confirmed availability adds strength to India's batting lineup as they aim to keep their series hopes alive. The series now moves to Old Trafford with increased stakes for both teams. England aims to secure the series victory, while India seeks to force a deciding final Test. Pant's dual role as wicketkeeper-batsman and his pursuit of Rohit Sharma's WTC run record adds another layer of interest to this crucial encounter. The team dynamics remain focused on achieving a series-leveling victory, with Pant's recovery from the finger injury providing a boost to India's chances. His potential record-breaking achievement would be a secondary consideration to the primary goal of winning the Test match and keeping the series alive.
