Auburn football among finalists to land 2026 safety Craig Tutt
Auburn remains in great standing with a 2026 cornerback from Tennessee as the commitment date looms.
Craig Tutt, a four-star safety from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, has locked in a commitment date for Friday, July 18. Auburn remains in the running to land Tutt, joining Ole Miss and Tennessee in the three-team SEC race. In a recent interview with Rivals, Tutt says that his top three schools recruited him well, but one stands out among the mix.
'There are great opportunities at each of these schools, the coaches recruited me well at each school and it just came down to where I felt the best at," Tutt said. "One of these had everything I was looking for and needed, and that is what it came down to for me.'
Is Auburn that team? Tutt raved about his visit to Auburn in June, where he says he was happy to get the chance to explore the Plains.
"Oh man, it's amazing," Tutt said in an interview with Auburn Undercover. "It's completely not what I expected — it's actually more than I expected it to be. I'm excited that I got a chance to come down here and explore it all. Some things that stood out to me were Coach Freeze is very into the recruits. Even though we were here at like 10 o'clock last night and he's up here chilling with us, taking pictures and stuff like that. It's like a family here. I know none of the players here, but they welcomed me with open arms, just helping me with whatever I need. Coaches being a family here and just pushing that all on me that it's a family here, and that's true."
Although Tutt enjoyed his visit to Auburn, he is projected to commit elsewhere. On3 projects Tennessee to be the winner in the Tutt sweepstakes with a 31.1% chance to land him. Ole Miss is next at 27.2%, with Auburn in third place at 23.3%. The race is tight, but Auburn remains a heavy contender with two weeks to go until the announcement is made.

Felix Ojo lands $5 million NIL deal after Texas Tech commitment
Five-star offensive tackle Felix Ojo finalized a groundbreaking three-year, fully guaranteed revenue-sharing contract worth approximately $5.1 million after committing to Texas Tech, his agent, Derrick Shelby, confirmed to ESPN on Friday. The deal, which is one of the largest of its kind since direct athlete compensation became legal, sets a new benchmark in college football. Ojo, ranked No. 20 in the ESPN 300 and No. 4 among offensive tackles, attended Lake Ridge High School in Texas and measures in at 6‑foot‑7 and 285 pounds during the spring. AP A standout pass blocker and run-stuffer, Ojo attracted offers from major programs, most notably fellow power five schools in Texas, Florida, Michigan, Ohio State and Ole Miss. 'Football is a brutal sport, and athletes are not able to play professionally until their graduating class has been in college three years,' Shelby said to ESPN. 'It was important to be able to secure Felix Ojo's future and give him and his family some security as he continues to develop into a first-round NFL draft pick.' Ojo committed to the Red Raiders on July 4, positioning the offensive tackle as Texas Tech's highest-rated recruit since ESPN began tracking in 2006. Texas Tech hasn't won double-digit games in any season since 2008, when it went 11-2 and lost to Ole Miss in the Cotton Bowl. In more recent history, Texas Tech just produced a third-round pick from its offensive line this past season, Caleb Rogers, who was selected by the Raiders in the third round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Will Caitlin Clark play Saturday? Indiana Fever update groin injury
Caitlin Clark continues to mend a left groin injury that will now sideline her for a fifth straight game. The Indiana Fever (9-8) listed Clark as "out" in their Friday evening injury report ahead of Saturday's home date against the Los Angeles Sparks (5-13). It's the ninth regular season game that Clark has missed during the 2025 WNBA season and the 10th including the WNBA Commissioner's Cup championship game against the Minnesota Lynx. Fever head coach Stephanie White commented on Clark's injury recovery earlier on Friday following Indiana's practice before Clark's status for Saturday's contest was revealed. "Well, we went through semi-live shooting drills. I mean, it wasn't really live. It was semi-live shooting drills. Still hasn't gone full-speed in a practice or a live defensive group, but she's been getting some 3-on-3 work on her own. I think the biggest thing is she's stated she's not a fan of minutes restrictions. "If there's going to be a minutes restriction, maybe we'll hold her another game. It's evaluating her again in the morning, seeing what she's done with however many days there have been of more loading and make a decision from there. But, again, I prioritize her long-term health and wellness and making sure that when she comes back, she's a 100 percent," White said. Clark previously missed five games with a left quadriceps strain. Clark, the 2024 No. 1 pick, is averaging 18.2 points, 8.9 assists and 5.0 rebounds in nine games this season, shooting 39.0% from the field and 29.5% from 3-point range. She recently was named an All-Star starter and captain by virtue of receiving the most fan votes. The Fever tip-off against the Sparks at 6 p.m. CT Saturday night in a game that will be televised on NBA TV.
