Local authorities are distributing their share of the fund, which runs until March 2026, to households in need.
In most cases, this is residents who are on benefits, low incomes or classed as vulnerable.
Ealing Council, in London, has been given £4.7million out of the £742million pot and is issuing supermarket vouchers to families with children on benefits-related free school meals.
Households with children under the age of five receiving housing benefit or council tax support are also eligible for vouchers.
Vouchers are being issued in July, October and December this year, as well as February and March 2026.
The vouchers being given to families with children on benefits-related free school meals in July are worth £90 per child, meaning households with two eligible children will receive £180.
If you live in Ealing, you don't need to apply for the vouchers as they will be sent to you via email or letter.
The council's partner, Blackhawk, is issuing a 16-digit, personalised code and instructions on how to redeem the vouchers on the Blackhawk website - ealingcouncil.select-your-reward.co.uk.
If your child goes to a school outside the borough of Ealing, you will need to apply for the vouchers.
Details on how to do that can be found via ealing.gov.uk/info/201103/benefits_and_financial_support/3043/household_support_fund.

Can I get help if I live outside Ealing?
Whether you can get help via the Household Support Fund depends on where you live.
This is because each council sets it own eligibility criteria.
However, the Household Support Fund, which was first established in 2021, is designed to help those on low incomes, benefits or classed as vulnerable.
So, if you fit into any of these three categories, the chances are you will be eligible for support.
The best thing to do is visit your local council's website where most have a page dedicated to the Household Support Fund.
Or, you can contact your local council's customer service helpline to inquire.
The latest round of Household Support Fund runs until March 31, 2026, and some councils have already opened up for applications.
Households in Birmingham are being urged to apply for £200 payments.
Meanwhile, low income households in North Northamptonshire can apply for supermarket vouchers worth up to £320.
Other help if you're on a low income
It's worth checking if you're eligible for benefits if you haven't already - it could boost your bank balance by thousands of pounds a year.
Are you missing out on benefits?
YOU can use a benefits calculator to help check that you are not missing out on money you are entitled to
Charity Turn2Us' benefits calculator works out what you could get.
Entitledto's free calculator determines whether you qualify for various benefits, tax credit and Universal Credit.
MoneySavingExpert.com and charity StepChange both have benefits tools powered by Entitledto's data.
You can use Policy in Practice's calculator to determine which benefits you could receive and how much cash you'll have left over each month after paying for housing costs.
Your exact entitlement will only be clear when you make a claim, but calculators can indicate what you might be eligible for.
If you're struggling with the cost of food, check where your nearest food bank is, to help you get cupboard staples for less.
The Trussell Trust has hundreds of food banks across the UK, and you can find your nearest one here - trussell.org.uk/emergency-food/find-a-foodbank.
Meanwhile, if you have fallen behind on your energy bills, you might be able to get a grant to wipe any debt.
British Gas and Octopus Energy, the UK's two biggest energy firms, both run schemes offering customers grants worth up to £2,000.
You might be able to apply for a free grant through a local charity as well.
Charity Turn2Us has a free-to-use grants search tool on its website which you can find here - grants-search.turn2us.org.uk.

Inside Wimbledon's gender pay gap almost two decades after equal pay pledge

Wimbledon 2025 has finally arrived and with the news of star athlete, Emma Raducanu, staying in the competition despite her injuries, we were curious to see whether the gender pay gap for tennis players still stands - and the results are still shocking. In the competition's most recent study from 2023, Wimbledon's gender pay gap report states that only in the Upper Middle Quartile pay band are there more women employed than men, meaning that in the remaining three quarters, women continue to miss out in both opportunity and pay. The report also states the gender bonus pay gap to have a median of 25 percent, with four percent of women not receiving bonuses compared to their male counterparts. Women's Tennis Association create 'space safe' for players undergoing fertility treatment With female athletes bringing in new viewership, brand deals and fashion trends that boost the British economy, it's a surprise that not much has changed since the 2017 gap of 25 percent. The mean pay gap - which showed the average hourly pay of men to be 10 percent more than for women - has unfortunately widened since 2021. Though still an improvement from the 25 percent "recorded when reporting began in 2017," both "median and mean gender bonus gaps have narrowed," reports AELTC. It is interesting to note that in 2023, even the one percent difference between 'mid point' men and women employees and athletes creates a huge difference in pay, especially considering 2025's overall increase of prize funds being a total of 8.2 percent more than 2024. The £300,000 addition to last years £2.7 million, won by singles winners Carlos Alcaraz and Barbora Krejcikova, brings on a new incentive to double-down on better pay for female athletes further down the leader board. Though the prize funds appear to match throughout the competition, we must ask at what percentage does this include female athletes, considering the ratio they are hired at. The prize fund up for grabs, now standing at a shocking £3 million, follows the 2024 win which saw Barbora Krejcikova rewarded a matching £2.7 million for her singles title - a positive progression from 2022. In DiversityLink 's article claiming Wimbledon 's initial promised to "end to gender pay gap," legendary player John McEnroe said: "I think when you've got men and women playing at the same tournament, it is ludicrous to have a difference in pay. It would be setting an example to the rest of society in general to have equal prize money. There's probably no other sport, and very few professions in this world, where a woman can earn as much as a man". However, this appears to have come after the 2006 matches won by Roger Federer and Amelie Mauresmo, the former earning £30,000 more than his female equal. It is clear to see that in 2025, Wimbledon has still a far way to go in improving conditions and pay for its female talent. Help us improve our content by completing the survey below. WH Smith cuts sale price of high street business after weaker trading

The retailer revealed that, while the sale of the high street chain to Hobbycraft owner Modella Capital completed on Monday, the cash returns from the sale would now be lower than first expected. It said it now expects to receive gross proceeds of up to £40 million, down from the £52 million it first forecast. WH Smith said investment firm Modella had sought to renegotiate the price due to 'softer' recent trading. 'Following the agreement and announcement of the sale, the future of the high street business under a change of ownership has led to a more cautious outlook amongst stakeholders,' it said. WH Smith added that it agreed to renegotiate on the price 'given the original agreement was no longer deliverable'. Shares in WH Smith – which is now purely focused on its shops based at travel sites in the UK and worldwide – fell as much as 8% at one stage, before settling around 3% lower in midday trading on Monday. The sale to Modella agreed in March – initially valuing the high street chain at £76 million – will result in the WH Smith name disappearing from British high streets and being replaced by brand TGJones. All of the approximately 480 stores and 5,000 staff working for the high street businesses will move under Modella's ownership as part of the deal. The sale comes after years of under-pressure trading at the division, while WH Smith's travel business has grown to make up the bulk of the group's sales and profits, with more than 1,200 stores across 32 countries. WH Smith's half-year results in April showed the profits at the high street chain had slumped by a quarter to just £20 million. Buyer Modella specialises in investing in retailers. It has previously put money into chains including Paperchase and Tie Rack, while in August last year it snapped up arts and crafts retailer Hobbycraft for an undisclosed sum.
