North Marion High School Marching Band to perform in Pearl Harbor Parade
When the marching band was invited back in November of 2024, Band Director Matthew Morgan jumped at the opportunity for the students to learn about and honor American history, travel to Hawaii, and perform in front of a wide audience.

Once the school administration gave its approval, the marching band found out about their future performance at their Christmas concert a few months ago. Morgan remembers the shock and excitement from the band students when they were told about the performance.
To Morgan's knowledge the only other school from West Virginia who has gotten to perform in Hawaii is Morgantown High School. The marching band is looking to raise somewhere between $80,000-$120,000 for new uniforms and to pay for the trip.

Iconic restaurant chain turns to TV in comeback attempt
Every classic American sitcom has a signature hangout spot seen in multiple episodes. Whether a coffee shop or a diner, these places have a nostalgic air and familiarity that remind us of our own lives. Founded in 1965 in New York City, this restaurant became that real-life go-to staple where families could gather, share a meal, and connect after a hectic day. Don't miss the move: Subscribe to TheStreet's free daily newsletter TGI Fridays was that beloved place - even its name stands for everything it represented. But in 2024, the chain quietly began closing locations nationwide, citing a desire to boost growth by shedding underperforming restaurants. Related: Bankrupt restaurant chain offers new deal, stiff drink However, there was more to this move than meets the eye, because the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in November of that year. TGI Fridays was $37 million in debt but secured financing, which allowed the remaining 85 restaurants to proceed with regular operations. Image Source: TheThe restaurant chain is now looking for new ways to boost business after losing market share to its rivals, and it's hoping a beloved TV network will entice customers. TGI Fridays has partnered with Warner Bros. Discovery's (WBD) Turner Broadcasting System (TBS) to launch "The Flavor Show," a new limited-time promotion at participating locations nationwide. More Food News: Popular chicken chain is begging customers to give it another chanceChick-fil-A offers free food to game-playing fansAfter big cuts, Starbucks' menu gets 'secret' new additions TBS manages nostalgic networks including TBS, TNT, and Turner Classic Movies. To capitalize on that vibe, the TBS Trio is a massive platter of tots, boneless wings, and sliders (or TBS - get it?) served over fries, all for $15. This new offering is big enough to share. But that's not all. TGI Fridays is also releasing a new summer menu with exciting additions focusing on innovation and trends. Specialty drinks have become all the rage in the food industry due to the massive traction they have gained among younger generations. This has prompted major food chains to expand their offerings by launching new beverage options to remain relevant in a challenging market. TGI Fridays refuses to fall behind its competitors again, so it's expanding its beverage menu by introducing Dirty Sodas. These non-alcoholic beverages blend a soda base, like Coca-Cola or Dr. Pepper, with syrups, fruit, and cream. The restaurant chain is making these unique sodas even more fun and earning extra revenue by suggesting liquor shot pairings for $3 more. The new Dirty Soda pairings are Cherry Cream Cola with Jack Daniel's, Strawberry SZN with Malibu, Dr. Vibe with Hennessy, and Dirty Sunshine with Tito's Vodka. The new Whiskey Buffalo Sauce, which mixes Whiskey-Glaze and buffalo sauces, was made for those who enjoy an extra kick in their food. For those with a sweet tooth, the Celebration Sundae features vanilla ice cream, butter cake, brownies, and strawberries, finished with whipped cream and topped with chocolate and caramel drizzle, sprinkles, and cherries. Waldorf Astoria's new restaurant ‘Lex Yard' reimagines menu classics as hotel finally reopens
Famed chef Michael Anthony has grand plans to restore the Waldorf Astoria as the epicenter of the Big Apple's crowded dining scene – and he's starting by reimagining the famed hotel's iconic dishes, Side Dish has learned. Anthony, the longtime executive chef at Gramercy Tavern, helms Lex Yard, the 220-seat restaurant that hopes to satiate locals and well-heeled guests as the Waldorf finally reopened its doors Tuesday following an eight-year renovation. 'I feel like I've been waiting all my life for this moment,' Anthony told Side Dish. Advertisement 6 'I feel like I've been waiting all my life for this moment,' chef Michael Anthony told Side Dish. Courtesy of Waldorf Astoria New York 'The menu was created to draw people in — to make this a busy restaurant, a great addition to the New York dining scene.' That begins with a reinterpreted Waldorf salad, which was reportedly invented at the hotel's original location in 1893 — where the Empire State Building now stands. Advertisement His take on the classic apple, grapes, walnut and celery salad includes adding some crunchy romaine lettuce, New England cheddar and toasted sunflowers – and then swapping out the stodgy mayo with an edgy aioli made with honey, saffron, grapeseed oil and lemon juice. 'When you are working with the perimeters of history, there is some pressure,' Anthony admitted. 6 Anthony will helm Lex Yard, the 220-seat restaurant at the Waldorf Astoria that hopes to satiate locals and well-heeled guests. Lex Yard, named for the Lexington Avenue train line that once ran under the hotel to Grand Central Terminal, also boasts private dining rooms, including Track 61 and FDR. They are named for president Franklin Delano Roosevelt, who would secretly enter the Waldorf via the undergrounds to hide the ravages of polio that left him in a wheelchair. 6 The iconic Waldorf reopened on Tuesday after years of renovations. Aside from Lex Yard, Anthony will also oversee the menu at the famed Peacock Alley – a name derived from the path that used to connect the Waldorf to the Astoria when the Gilded Age properties opened. 'It is an interesting opportunity to thread the needle … and to bring back such a beautiful and elegant part of New York City. Hopefully this will become everyone's favorite neighborhood spot,' Anthony said.

Netflix: Earnings preview & possible UFC deal
Netflix (NFLX) will release its second quarter results after Thursday's closing bell. Additionally, the streaming giant may double down on wrestling amid its ongoing push into live sports. Yahoo Finance Senior Reporter Allie Canal explores murmurs that Netflix could announce a deal to license UFC, building upon its success with WWE. To watch more expert insights and analysis on the latest market action, check out more Asking for a Trend here. A new earnings season is underway, and we're getting a big report from Netflix on Thursday. For more, we're bringing in here Yahoo Finance senior reporter, Allie Canal. Allie. Hey, Josh. Well, expectations are high, of course, especially for Netflix. I'm taking a look at shares behind me. Year to date, we are up a whopping 40%. We are trading at evaluation double the benchmark S&P 500. So that's the big focus here heading into this earnings report. There are some analysts on Wall Street who say maybe all that optimism has been priced into this stock. JP Morgan, for example, has a neutral rating on shares. They have a price target of 1200 bucks, so they see a bit of deceleration. But others say this valuation is justified, that if you look at all the tech opportunities out there, Netflix is one of those high-growth stocks that over the next two to three years are going to continue to outperform. Now, as a reminder, the company no longer reports subscriber figures. So the focus here is going to be on the advertising business as well as a strong content slate. We have the return of those big tentpole shows like Stranger Things, Wednesday. We recently saw the return of Squid Game at the end of last month. So that's been an exciting moment for this company as it gears up for the back half of the year. There's also talk that Netflix could be bidding on UFC media rights. They've had a lot of success with WWE. So that's been a rumor that's been circulating around Hollywood. So we'll see if we have any more clarity on that on the earnings call. But all things considered, this is a strong company, lots of momentum, and really the start of big tech earnings season. We've seen a strong start to earnings season right now with the banks. We'll see if Netflix can deliver tomorrow. And Allie, here's another question I have for you. The UFC, which analysts are writing about, you know, when they're previews their research notes. They're saying maybe there could be some smoke here. Yeah, and Dana White, he sits on the board of the UFC, and he said that this is a company that's looking to maybe go more global. So the immediate streamers that come to mind is Netflix, Amazon. Both of those companies have dabbled in sports in the past, but I think the fact that Netflix has gone so far into WWE and has seen a lot of that success bodes well for the possibility that they could bid on UFC. Now, UFC currently airs on ESPN, so this would be a switch up, uh, taking it away from Disney. So sports in general seems to be the general direction that Netflix is heading in. They want these live event moments, these big tentpole moments. They're also experimenting with other types of live content, a potential partnership with Spotify for concert series. We saw them air a few NFL games as well. So this wouldn't be a deviation from their strategy, and certainly, when there's smoke, sometimes there's fire. So again, Josh, I think we're going to hear this on the call, and we'll see what those executives have to say. Yeah, Dana White saying more than likely we're going to end up with a platform that is way more global than we are now. We shall see. Allie, thank you.
