After dark: DJ royalty visited Bristol last weekend as Annie Mac was the main act for a night of dance music at Prospect in the south east of the city.
Job well done: Hundreds of people attended the Anti Banquet event at Ashton Gate on Friday evening. Some of the best chefs in the city gave up their time for the evening, which raises vital money - organisers hope £100,000 this year - for charities tackling food poverty across Bristol.
A love story: Romeo and Juliet, directed by Corey Campbell, is bringing a rap, soul and R&B version of the Shakespeare play to Bristol Old Vic until 5 April.
On my signal: Prince William the Prince of Wales dropped in to an event aimed at young farmers in Pensford south of Bristol, speaking to the guests and watching some physical challenges, including a tug-of-war.
Look up: As soon as the clearer, warmer days arrive you can be sure to see hot air balloons over Bristol. Some passed over the city centre early on Saturday.

Match action: Team Bath Netball's first NXT Gen League match in Bristol proved to be a thriller as they were edged out by a last-gasp goal by Manchester Thunder at Clifton College, the visitors winning 50-49.
His ship came in: Retired sailor Alan Wilcock, 75, had plenty of reasons to be cheerful after winning £1m on a National Lottery scratchcard. Where better to pose for the cameras than the SS Great Britain?
Not to be: Despite a great hit from Romaine Sawyers to make it 1-1, Rovers slipped to a 2-1 defeat against Mansfield at the Mem on Saturday.
Lifesavers: Blackadder star Sir Tony Robinson joined a nationwide relay aimed at encouraging football fans to learn how to perform CPR. Sir Tony, a Bristol City fan, started his leg at Ashton Gate as part of the British Heart and Sky Bet campaign.
New partnership: SUP Bristol, which runs paddle sports on the harbour, has now become part of the Mendip Adventure Group. David Eddins from Mendip and Tim Trew from SUP posed for the camera to celebrate the news.
Read all about it: Children's author and poet Alex Wharton dropped in as more than 60 Emersons Green Primary School pupils joined staff to celebrate South Gloucestershire Council opening open a new children's area at the local library.
Let the hunt begin: Bristol Zoo Project and other tourist attractions across the West and South Wales have created one of the biggest Easter egg hunts of the year. From now until 4 April, several golden eggs are being hidden at locations across the regions, one a day. Clues will be placed on the zoo's social media accounts each day and anyone who finds an egg zoo tickets and a toy.
Recognition: Consultant Rachael Morris, who works at Weston General Hospital, has been awarded a medal from the Royal College of Emergency Medicine for her "outstanding" work caring for older people. Dr Rebecca Maxwell, chief medical officer for University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust, said the trust was "proud" of Rachael's achievement.
Going green: Two of the city's business improvement districts (BIDs) have joined forces to help companies make changes as Bristol aims to become a net zero city by 2030. The City Centre and Redcliffe & Temple BIDs are offering advice and support along with the Bristol Climate & Nature Partnership.

Cast have paid an emotional tribute to Diogo Jota on the first night of the Oasis reunion tour on Friday. The Liverpudlian indie rock band kicked off the show at Cardiff's Principality Stadium as the first support act to take to the stage. Frontman John Power took a moment to pay tribute to Liverpool footballer Diogo as he dedicated their song Walkaway to the star after his tragic death. In an emotional moment, he said: 'This is Walkaway. This one is for Diogo Jota. Take it easy brother.' Noel Gallagher's daughter Anais sports an Oasis polo shirt and curls her hair as she gets glammed up for the band's first reunion show in Cardiff

Anais Gallagher gave an insight into her glamour routine as she got ready for the first Oasis reunion show in Cardiff on Friday night. The daughter of Noel Gallagher, 25, took to TikTok on Friday afternoon to join other fans of the 90s band in gearing up for the hotly-anticipated first night of the tour. Showing support for her father, Anais wore a light blue Oasis X Adidas polo shirt and had her golden locks clipped back as she curled her hair ready for the big show. She sported a radiant palette of make-up, including a touch of blusher and a slick of pink lipstick, as she gave an insight into her glamour routine for the epic gig. In the short video, Anais lip-synced along to Oasis' smash hit 1995 track Hello as she proved herself to be her father's number one fan. In a caption, she penned: 'See you later Oasis girlies x' Noel shares Anais with his ex-wife Meg Mathews, who he was married to from 1997 until 2001 and remains on good terms with. His model ex, 59, has also been eagerly gearing up for Oasis' reunion and though she isn't expected to be at the Cardiff show, she will be attending their Wembley dates. After 15 years, the once warring Gallagher brothers Noel and Liam will finally reunite for 41 shows with Welsh fans queuing all night outside Principality Stadium. And Anais seemed as excited as any other fan as she also shared a photograph of the Welsh capital to her Instagram Stories on Friday morning. She snapped a photo of the Principality Stadium and wrote in a caption: 'Good morning Cardiff.' She is said to have helped bring the estranged siblings back together after 'planting the idea' of a reconciliation. Anais is also said to have helped piece together the set list and given an insight into what younger fans might want to hear. Meanwhile, on Thursday, her mother Meg confirmed she will attend Oasis' reunion tour as she posted a string loved-up snaps with her ex-husband. The columnist, 59, famously wed the rocker, 58, in June 1997 in Las Vegas, but they were together for just four years before they went their separate ways and divorced. Meg was forced to deny she had rekindled things with Noel - who she shares her daughter Anaïs, 25, with - this week when she flooded her Instagram with loved-up snaps of them ahead of Oasis' reunion tour. But Meg didn't let the rumours get in the way of her countdown as she shared more PDA-filled snaps with Noel in the days before Oasis' first show at Cardiff's Principality Stadium on Friday night. Though they are just friends, Meg is steadfastly supporting her ex Noel and his brother Liam, 52, upon their long-awaited return to stage and will be attending their first London show on July 25. Commenting on one of her most recent throwback posts, a fan asked her if she would be at the first London date, to which she simply responded: 'Yes.' Oasis will also be playing at Wembley Stadium on July 26 and July 30, before returning on August 2 and 3, and again on September 27 and 28. While Meg will be proudly watching in London, her daughter Anais is expected to attend Oasis' first Cardiff show, having been spending time in Wales in recent days. Meg has been sharing sweet snaps from her and Noel's relationship every day in the week leading up to Oasis' hotly-anticipated reunion kicking off in Cardiff on Friday. On Thursday, she marked one day until Oasis' epic comeback show by sharing a slideshow featuring shots of her and Noel from the 90s and early 00s. In a caption, she gushed: 'DAY 2 COUNT DOWN …. What song are they going to kick off with ? Let me know your thoughts below.' The band's hit Acquiesce played over the slideshow, potentially in a hint that Meg knows the setlist, as MailOnline revealed Oasis will be opening the show with that very song. After opening with the track from their first 1995 album, Oasis will follow with Morning Glory the titular song of the second studio album with Supersonic playing sixth. They will also play Half the World Away, Slide Away, Live Forever before finishing with their three most popular songs - Don't Look Back in Anger, Wonderwall and Champagne Supernova. Meg has been sharing sweet snaps from her and Noel's relationship every day in the week leading up to Oasis' hotly-anticipated reunion kicking off in Cardiff on Friday The day before, Meg proved herself to be Oasis' number one fan as she questioned who else was getting excited for the long-awaited reunion tour - more than a decade after the band's 2009 split. While Live Forever played, she gushed: 'DAY 3 Count Down remembering the nights went into days and days went into night … 90s Brit pop 28 years ago who is getting mad for it … or as I would say excited.' Proving herself to be just as excited as every other Oasis fan, Meg shared more sweet shots of herself and Noel over the years as she marked three 'sleeps' until the first gig on Tuesday. 'Day 4 count Down 28 years since the 90s Oasis .. 3 sleeps till Friday 8.15pm they will take the stage,' she penned as D'You Know What I Mean? played. 'So, Oasis has been commanding peak streaming attention—and holding their position as one of the top‑streamed legacy rock bands—consistently for the past 10 months, dating back to August 2024.' After starting her week-long countdown until the gig, Meg was forced to deny that she and Noel were back together after posting endless loved-up pictures of them. Fans questioned whether the duo had rekindled their romance 24 years after their divorce, as her nostalgic photos albums included several of the pair locking lips. Amid the many comments on the numerous snaps, one fan wrote: 'So glad to see you guys are back together. Make a wonderful couple. Love like that never dies. The message caused Meg to respond: 'We are not back together.' She was forced once again to reiterate her firm 'no' when others asked if they were 'dating again' or 'back together'. Amid the speculation, Meg confirmed that she is still friends with Noel as she proved they remain on good terms with her sweet string of posts. Meg met Noel in 1994 in London through her roommate MTV presenter Rebecca de Ruvo. Noel was dating Rebecca at the time, however, he eventually left her for Meg. They welcomed their daughter Anais together during their relationship but went on to separate in 2000, before confirming their divorce the following year. Noel met his second wife Sara in Ibiza in 2000. They went on to marry in June 2011 before divorcing in 2023 following 11 years of marriage. After his divorce from Meg was finalised, the Don't Look Back In Anger singer denied actually being unfaithful to her with Sara, saying he had only admitted to cheating in order to speed up the divorce process. Last week, Meg revealed she was doing an Oasis countdown after receiving hundreds of messages from fans urging her to share old photos. In a post on Friday, alongside a throwback snap of her and Noel snogging, she penned: 'Throwback to the 90s when gigs were everything and my hair was questionable after 100'sof DM's asking for old photos I I decided to do a count down from my favourite oasis Gigs 6 to go.' While on Thursday, Noel's supportive ex reminisced on the singer preparing for his first ever gig with the band. Alongside a snap of the pair on holiday, she penned: 'Noel here getting ready for the first Gig… A week tomorrow Oasis are back. 'In 1996 During their legendary Knebworth performances August 10–11, they launched huge inflatable footballs into the audience as part of their upbeat intro before launching into songs like Columbia, Acquiesce, and Supersonic.' After 15 years, Noel and Liam will finally reunite for 41 shows across Europe as well as other world tour dates and more than 900,000 fans have eagerly snapped up tickets. Cardiff's Principality Stadium has already been lit up with a drone show ahead of the first night of the long-awaited tour kicking off. Oasis are believed to have already arrived in Cardiff ahead of the first gig after a last minute change to the plans. On Monday, fans became convinced that the duo were in Wales to sound check at the stadium after people heard music coming from inside. The brothers have enlisted new bandmates for the tour, with drummer Joey Waronker and guitarists Andy Bell, Gem Archer and Paul 'Bonehead' Arthurs on board. Oasis also revealed they are releasing more tickets ahead of their eagerly anticipated reunion tour this summer. The iconic Britpop band have reunited for a series of stadium shows across the United Kingdom, Ireland, Japan, South Korea and North, Central and South America, commencing at Cardiff's Principality Stadium on July 4. And a statement posted to the band's official website on Wednesday read: 'As the shows are getting closer, Oasis promoters may be able to release a very limited number of additional tickets for sale once final sight lines are checked and the production is fine tuned. 'These final production releases will happen over the coming days.' Following their initial release, thousands of fans waited for hours in virtual queues to get their hands on highly-coveted tickets for the band's reunion shows, only to find that prices had jumped in a 'dynamic pricing' scheme. The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has since called for Ticketmaster to change how it labels tickets and informs customers. The CMA launched an investigation into Ticketmaster in September to examine if it had engaged in 'unfair commercial practices', whether fans were given 'clear and timely' information to explain tickets could be subject to 'dynamic pricing', and if people were put under pressure to buy tickets within a short period of time. The watchdog said it was concerned that Ticketmaster, which sold more than 900,000 tickets for the Oasis gigs, may have breached consumer protection law. Downing Street has said that 'everyone deserves a fair shot at getting tickets' for music and sport events. Ticketmaster UK said in a statement that it tries to provide a 'simple, transparent and consumer-friendly' experience. Certain tickets for shows were labelled as 'platinum' and sold for nearly 2.5 times more than the standard price. However, the company did not explain these tickets do not come with any additional benefits and are located in the same area of the stadium. The CMA said this risked consumers being mislead into thinking the platinum tickets were better. Another concern listed by the watchdog was that two categories of standing tickets were listed at different prices, with the cheaper tickets sold first before the more expensive ones were released. This caused fans to wait in long queues without realising they would have to pay a higher price than expected, the CMA added. Since the opening of the investigation, Ticketmaster has made changes to some aspects of its ticket sales process, but the CMA does not currently consider these changes are sufficient to address its concerns. Hayley Fletcher, Interim Senior Director of Consumer Protection at the CMA, said: 'Fans reported problems when buying Oasis tickets from Ticketmaster and we decided those concerns warranted investigation. 'We're concerned that Oasis fans didn't get the information they needed or may have been misled into buying tickets they thought were better than they were. 'All ticketing websites should check they are complying with the law and treating their customers fairly. When businesses get it right, consumers benefit – and that's the best outcome for everyone.'

Vernon Kay claims Liam Gallagher branded him a lanky b*****d' after he accidentally insulted the Oasis star

Vernon Kay claims that he insulted Liam Gallagher at a Prodigy gig after he asked whether the Oasis frontman was wearing fake tan. The 51-year-old broadcaster revealed Liam called him a 'lanky b******d' after Vernon asked Liam, 52, if he'd had some help with his bronzed look back in 2009. Writing a piece about the '90s Britpop band for The Sun, Vernon recalled: 'Back in 2009, I was at a Prodigy gig when I bumped into Liam and his then-wife Nicole Appleton. 'They'd been on holiday and I'd had a couple of lagers and cheekily yelled at him, "Is that fake tan you're wearing?" 'For a minute, I thought he was going to hit me. He shouted, 'No, I'm f*****g not you lanky streak of p**s.' 'I think he then called me lanky b******d. But he's brilliant company.' MailOnline has contacted Liam's representative for comment. The BBC Radio 2 broadcaster is a massive Oasis fan and he will be attending the first show of Liam and Noel Gallagher's reunion tour. It is taking place at Cardiff's Principality Stadium on Friday and Vernon will be joined by his 16-year-old daughter Amber and his younger brother Stephen. He insists Supersonic singer Liam would be among his top 10 dinner party guests. Vernon said: 'People ask, "Who would be your top ten dinner party guests?" Well, Liam would certainly be one of mine. 'And I think you would want him to be the one who arrives last, with a 24-pack of Guinness, slamming them down on the table. Everyone would go, "Alright then, let's have one of them." 'For me - and countless others - today's show will be a return to the golden days of our youth.' Oasis mania is well and truly taking over the nation ahead of the iconic Britpop band's first reunion concert. The band previously confirmed they would be hitting the stage at 8.15pm after warm up act Richard Ashcroft begins his set at 7:00pm. The BBC Radio 2 broadcaster is a massive Oasis fan and he will be attending the first show of Liam and Noel Gallagher's reunion tour But some music lovers have been left scrambling for last minute seats, with some that boast a £489 face value being sold for as much as £2,500. Viagogo has several seated spots on sale for more than £1,000 and reported on its page that 34,000 people had looked at tickets for Friday's performance. With seats for Saturday's second night in the Welsh capital have even higher price tags. Meanwhile many fans have found themsleves falling foul of scammers in their desperate attempt to bag a spot in the crowd and have taken to X to share their frustrations. 'Half the accounts on Twitter are fake and trying to scam by selling Oasis tickets': 'pls stop trying to scam me, i just want an oasis ticket fml': 'Anyone else's tickets for Oasis in Cardiff been voided and then been reassigned worse tickets without even an email to note this change ?'. They have collectively lost more than £2m to scams since tickets for its reunion tour went on sale last year, a major bank estimated. Lloyds Banking Group based the calculation on the volume of fraud reports made by its own customers. Oasis fans make up more than half of all reported concert ticket scams so far this year, according to Lloyds' data, losing £436 on average. The biggest amount lost in a single case so far was more than £1,700, suggesting many fans are willing to pay well over face value, the bank said.
