Taylor Swift's ‘Evermore' Stands Out From Her Chart Successes

Forbes11-04-2025
Taylor Swift is always present on the Billboard charts – always. At times, the superstar is everywhere, thanks to the release of a new single or a hotly-anticipated album drop. But even during quieter frames, like this current one, when there's no just-released material or promotional campaign fueling momentum, Swifties are still busy streaming and buying her past releases. This continued fan loyalty ensures that several of her full-lengths remain on the charts at all times.
This week, Swift once again proves her popularity as 10 albums appear on various Billboard rankings. Among that bunch, one title rises above the rest and manages a feat none of the others can claim: climbing on more than one list.
This frame, 10 of Swift's albums find space somewhere on the Billboard charts. Most of them land on more than one list, though nearly half are present on just a single tally. Across the board, the general trend is downward, with most of her full-lengths losing ground. That's not really a bad sign, though – it just means this isn't a busy period for the singer-songwriter. A few projects do manage to gain slightly, but just one title defies that pattern and stands out for climbing on multiple charts simultaneously.
Evermore is the only album in Swift's discography that improves its standing on more than one Billboard chart this week. The set jumps two rungs on the Billboard 200, moving from second-to-last place to No. 197. On the Top Rock & Alternative Albums tally, Evermore also improves, stepping up one position No. 45. That roster ranks the most-consumed rock and alternative-only collections in the U.S., while the Billboard 200 includes all genres and styles.
Only three other Swift albums manage to rise at all, and each one surges on just a single list. Fearless (Taylor's Version) appears on only one tally, the Top Country Albums ranking, where it moves from the lowest position to No. 49.
1989 (Taylor's Version) continues to perform fairly well, though this week is a mixed bag for the re-recorded take on 1989. On the Billboard 200, the bestseller drops a few spots, but on the Top Album Sales chart, which counts only pure purchases, the project pushes north by a single space, No. 50 to No. 49.
Red (Taylor's Version) is steady on the Billboard 200, though it does manage a minor bump on the Top Country Albums chart. On that style-specific roster, it climbs from No. 29 to No. 27.
While a few titles manage to grow or remain steady, the rest of Swift's catalog is on the decline on Billboard's lists. The Tortured Poets Department, Lover, Folklore, Midnights, and Reputation all appear on the Billboard 200, with several of them also featured on other rankings, but not one of them is rising.

Black Sabbath Blocked From No. 1 — By Ozzy Osbourne

Following Ozzy Osbourne's passing, both the rocker and his band Black Sabbath soar onto charts all around the planet, as millions of people buy and stream everything the legendary artist left behind. There's room for both acts on the charts, but in some instances, the two, which are counted separately, compete with one another, as Osbourne and Black Sabbath appear on multiple rock and hard rock rankings published by Billboard. In one instance, the soloist even keeps the group that brought him to fame from reaching No. 1. Ozzy Osbourne's New No. 1 Album This week's Top Hard Rock Albums chart is ruled by The Essential Ozzy Osbourne. That compilation of many of Osbourne's most successful singles surges from No. 9 to the top spot – and it's not the only effort from the late rocker to rise dramatically. Black Sabbath Forced to Settle for No. 2 Black Sabbath's Paranoid advances to the runner-up spot on Billboard's ranking of the most consumed hard rock projects in the United States, jumping from No. 18 to No. 2. Paranoid has always been one of Black Sabbath's most famous releases, but it has never managed to conquer the Top Hard Rock Albums chart. The set enters the top 10 on the tally for the first time this week, and only Osbourne himself keeps the group from scoring a new No. 1 album. Black Sabbath's Sole No. 1 Black Sabbath has only ever ruled the Top Hard Rock Albums list once before. In the summer of 2013, the group's appropriately-titled release 13 debuted in first place. It went on to live there for two frames, and still stands as the group's longest-running success on the Top Hard Rock Albums chart, with 23 frames spent on the roster. Paranoid Reappears on Multiple Charts Paranoid returns to two Billboard lists, reentering both the Billboard 200 and Top Album Sales charts inside the top 40 as it surges to the runner-up space on the Top Hard Rock Albums list. The full-length also opens inside the top 10 on both the Top Rock & Alternative Albums and Top Rock Albums rankings. Black Sabbath's Multiple Wins Black Sabbath only manages to occupy two spaces on a single Billboard tally this week, and it's the Top Hard Rock Albums chart. As Paranoid almost becomes another No. 1, The Ultimate Collection also reappears at No. 23.

Taylor Swift's Album Cut Jumps 6,000% In Sales

Even when Taylor Swift is between album cycles, she finds a way to manage impressive feats on the charts. With no new singles out and fans still speculating about her next move, one of her album cuts has returned to the spotlight, proving once again that even her lesser-known songs can become big wins under the right circumstances. Taylor Swift Syncs With 'And Just Like That' On the July 25 episode of HBO's And Just Like That – which is set to end with its third season, according to a recent announcement – an emotional farewell between Carrie Bradshaw and her beau Aidan was set to the soundtrack of 'How Did It End?' The track, originally released as a bonus cut from The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology Edition, played during the episode's closing moments, and that meaningful sync helped the tune surge on streaming platforms and download stores. A Sky-High Sales Boost Thanks to the high-profile placement, 'How Did It End?' experienced a massive uptick in purchases. According to Billboard, from July 25 to 28, the song sold more than 500 copies in the United States (per Luminate). That's a 6,000% jump from the previous week. Streaming Numbers Rise as Well While the bump in streaming was less dramatic when compared to sales, it was still significant. The track pulled in 391,000 official on-demand streams over that same four-day period, up 22% week-over-week. For a deluxe edition track that debuted more than a year ago and which wasn't pushed as a single, that's a solid showing. A Deluxe Edition Track That's Still Popular 'How Did It End?' made its first chart appearance back in April 2024, when it debuted at No. 35 on the Hot 100 when The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology Edition arrived. It's not common for an album cut from a deluxe reissue to break into the top 40 on the chart, but nothing about Swift's career is common.

TikTok video goes viral after NJ earthquake: ‘Starting to feel like LA'

NEW YORK (PIX11) – A Billboard chart-topping DJ was enjoying his Saturday night in New Jersey when an earthquake unexpectedly shook him. I also had a feeling it was an earthquake.' More Local News He logged onto X to see if what he had felt was real. His suspicion was confirmed when he checked. What he was feeling was an earthquake in New Jersey that also affected parts of New York City. While some might have panicked, DJ Petie stayed calm and shared some light-hearted content and his thoughts on TikTok. 'Bro, I'm literally sitting on my couch, my whole apartment starts vibrating. I live in New Jersey. I'm starting to feel like I live in Los Angeles,' he said. The earthquake, originating from Hasbrouck Heights, NJ, was recorded around 10:18 p.m., according to the USGS. The magnitude was 3.0. DJ Petie's TikTok post, made soon after the quake, has already surpassed 100,000 views. Thousands of people have liked it. One TikTok user who related to his video commented, 'Why did I think my upstairs neighbors fell or something.' More Local News Another TikTok user, Bri, said, 'This earthquake was different from others; it was loud.' Another social media user commented, 'ran straight to TikTok.' PIX11 News received calls from viewers in Bloomfield, N.J., Westchester, N.Y., and Queens, reporting they felt their beds and TVs shaking.
