Compass Group Announces Successful Exit of EPIC Systems to VINCI Energies

Yahoo20-05-2025
ST. LOUIS, May 20, 2025--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Compass Group Equity Partners has announced the successful exit from EPIC Systems, a national provider of industrial and process automation solutions. EPIC Systems has now joined VINCI Energies, a global powerhouse in energy, transportation, and communications infrastructure and a subsidiary of VINCI Group.
"Compass Group was a terrific partner for EPIC Systems; they brought a thesis-driven approach to industrial automation combined with in-house functional expertise through their Compass Guides program," said Mike Higgins, CEO of EPIC Systems. "That expertise proved invaluable as we worked together with the Compass investment team to scale and grow EPIC Systems."
EPIC Systems and Compass Group, both headquartered in St. Louis, MO, first partnered in 2018. Strategic initiatives such as the 2020 appointment of Mike Higgins as CEO, the 2022 hiring of a strategic-thinking CFO in Laurie Phillips, and expanded solution offerings within the industrial automation space contributed to a successful investment outcome.
Under Higgins' leadership, the company sharpened its focus on sales and marketing, broadened its service offerings, and strengthened its position in the industrial automation sector. These initiatives enabled EPIC to explore new end markets, new geographies, and achieve additional growth within existing customer accounts. As a result, EPIC Systems achieved significant growth in both revenue and EBITDA during the investment period.
"EPIC is a great example of how Compass Group can partner with a company to create an opportunity-focused sales organization that complements existing technical expertise," said Ryan Roepke, Director at Compass Group Equity Partners. "We're proud of EPIC and excited to see the business and their people thrive in the next chapter."
Bundy Group served as the investment banking advisor, while Armanino provided tax due diligence services, and Wipfli assisted with financial due diligence. Polsinelli provided legal counsel on the transaction.

Sponsor branding finally removed ahead of new season beginning

The branding of Nationwide has finally been removed from the Nigel Eady County Ground after they ended their sponsorship of Swindon Town. In May, it was announced that the Swindon-based building society Nationwide would end its long-standing partnership with Swindon Town, having been involved with the club across two spells during 20 of the last 28 years. The agreement officially came to an end on May 31, with the deal that saw Nationwide sponsor the Don Rogers Stand and obtain a ticket discount for their employees. Swindon Town Chief Commercial Officer James Watts revealed the move came after 'an internal business review' at Nationwide, and the company said they had been 'honoured' to have supported the club. Despite the agreement ending over a month ago, their branding remained on the Don Rogers Stand and inside the ground until last week, when it was finally removed. The branding remained on the outside of the stand, and also on advertising hoardings inside, but was removed before the beginning of the new season, with Swindon set to host Cambridge United on August 9. Swindon have been pursuing new agreements for sponsorship of the Don Rogers Stand, although, as yet, no deal has been struck.

Ardian rolls out US Access Fund

Ardian, a worldwide private investment firm with $180bn in assets, has introduced Ardian Access, an investment vehicle designed to provide accredited US investors direct access to private equity opportunities that are traditionally reserved for institutions. Ardian Access, incorporated under the Investment Company Act of 1940, provides flexible and diverse access to Ardian's secondary, primary, and direct co-investment strategies. The fund is aimed at investors looking for greater access to private markets and to diversify their portfolios through global exposure. With a minimum investment of $25,000, Ardian Access is intended to appeal to a broader variety of accredited investors than standard private equity offerings. The fund will be evergreen, allowing for ongoing inflows and prompt capital deployment, which is uncommon in private markets. The fund will use Ardian's secondary and co-investment platforms, which collectively manage more than $104bn. Over the last four years, the firm's secondaries team has negotiated more than $40bn in transactions, while its co-investment arm has supported more than 140 portfolio businesses alongside top sponsors. Moreover, the fund is designed to mitigate the common obstacles that private market investors experience, such as the J-curve effect, by investing in a diverse portfolio of global private assets managed by established General Partners across many sectors and locations. Mark Benedetti, Executive President at Ardian stated: 'Ardian's Private Wealth Solutions team has experienced remarkable growth by strategically responding to the evolving needs of private investors and wealth managers and is a vital part of Ardian's positioning in private markets. Ardian Access represents our continued expansion, bringing our proven track record in secondaries and co-investments to sophisticated investors seeking scalable solutions.' Michael Bane, Head of Americas Investors Relations and Senior Managing Director at Ardian added: 'Creating Ardian Access LLC was necessary and logical. We wanted to serve Ardian's core competencies to a broader audience, allowing private wealth investors access to the performance our institutional investors have benefitted from since our inception. We seek to provide clients with broad, global private markets exposure to help fill the gaps in their portfolios – this vehicle delivers a professionally managed solution that brings to bear even more of Ardian's differentiated expertise.' According to the firm, investors will benefit from Ardian's enormous proprietary database, which includes over 650 GP's, 1,600 funds, and 10,000 portfolio firms, as well as insights from over 125 private markets specialists operating in 20 global offices. Furthermore, Ardian has already tested this approach in Europe, having successfully launched Ardian Access FCPR in France. Following the US debut, the business will launch Ardian Access SICAV-RAIF, a Luxembourg-based evergreen fund with a similar investment strategy, to accommodate growing global demand. This move represents a key milestone in Ardian's continued growth into the private wealth market, which was formerly controlled by institutional capital and ultra-high-net-worth individuals. The offering is still subject to regulatory approvals and consultations with relevant employee representative bodies. "Ardian rolls out US Access Fund" was originally created and published by Private Banker International, a GlobalData owned brand. Boeing beats Wall Street's expectations with 2nd quarter rise in revenue

Boeing's second-quarter loss narrowed and revenue improved as the aircraft manufacturer delivered more commercial planes in the period. Boeing Co. lost $611 million, or 92 cents per share, for the three months ended June 30. A year earlier it lost $1.44 billion, or $2.33 per share. Adjusting for one-time gains, Boeing lost $1.24 per share. This was better than the loss of $1.54 per share that analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research expected. Shares rose slightly before the market open on Tuesday. Revenue climbed to $22.75 billion from $16.87 billion, mostly due to 150 commercial deliveries compared with 92 deliveries in the prior-year period. The performance topped Wall Street's estimate of $21.86 billion. 'Our fundamental changes to strengthen safety and quality are producing improved results as we stabilize our operations and deliver higher quality airplanes, products and services to our customers,' CEO Kelly Ortberg said in a statement. 'As we look to the second half of the year, we remain focused on restoring trust and making continued progress in our recovery while operating in a dynamic global environment.' Boeing has been dealing with a variety of issues over the past few years. On Sunday Boeing said that it expects more than 3,200 union workers at three St. Louis-area plants that produce U.S. fighter jets to strike after they rejected a proposed contract that included a 20% wage increase over four years. The International Machinists and Aerospace Workers union said the vote by District 837 members was overwhelmingly against the proposed contract. The existing contract was to expire at 11:59 p.m. Central time Sunday, but the union said that a 'cooling off' period would keep a strike from beginning for another week, until Aug. 4. Last fall, Boeing offered a general wage increase of 38% over four years to end a 53-day strike by 33,000 aircraft workers producing passenger aircraft. In June the National Transportation Safety Board said that its 17-month long investigation found that lapses in Boeing's manufacturing and safety oversight, combined with ineffective inspections and audits by the Federal Aviation Administration, led to a door plug panel flying off Alaska Airlines flight 1282, which was a Boeing 737 Max 9 aircraft, last year. Boeing said in a statement at the time that it will review the NTSB report and will continue working on strengthening safety and quality across its operations. The Max version of Boeing's bestselling 737 airplane has been the source of persistent troubles for the company since two of the jets crashed, one in Indonesia in 2018 and another in Ethiopia in 2019, killing a combined 346 people. In May the Justice Department reached a deal allowing Boeing to avoid criminal prosecution for allegedly misleading U.S. regulators about the Max before the two crashes. Boeing was also in the news last month when a 787 flown by Air India crashed shortly after takeoff and killed at least 270 people. Investigators have not determined what caused that crash, but so far they have not found any flaws with the model, which has a strong safety record.
