Riyadh hails oil discovery as step for energy coop. with Kuwait

RIYADH --- The Saudi Cabinet on Tuesday lauded the new oil discovery in in the partitioned zone between Saudi Arabia and State of Kuwait as a positive step towards a further cooperation in the energy sector.
This came during the Saudi Cabinet's meeting, chaired by Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammad bin Salman, according to the kingdom's official news agency.
The cabinet said that recent oil discovery would lead to promoting Saudi-Kuwait cooperation in energy and continuing joint discovery and development efforts.
The Governments of Kuwait and Saudi Arabia on Monday declared a new oil discovery in the partitioned zone, said the Kuwaiti Ministry of Oil.
They announced that Wafra Joint Operations had made a new oil discovery in (North Wafra Wara-Burgan) field, located five kilometers north of Wafra field.
Crude oil flowed from the Wara reservoir in the North Wafra (Wara-Burgan-1) well at a rate exceeding 500 barrels per day, with an API gravity of 26 to 27 degrees.
API gravity is a scale that defines the gravity or density of liquid petroleum products.

In the initial phase, these driveless vehicles, which can reach a maximum speed of 100kmph, will operate in seven locations in the Kingdom's capital, including the King Khalid International Airport. There will be 13 designated pick-up and drop-off points. During the pilot phase, the vehicles will transport passengers with a safety officer on board each vehicle to ensure safety and monitor the performance of the smart systems in real-world conditions. The pilot phase will be for 12 months. According to Saudi's Transport General Authority (TGA), The project is the result of a comprehensive partnership between the Kingdom's transport and logistics system and key government and private sector entities. The net profits of Bank Albilad surged by 11.58% year-on-year (YoY) to SAR 1.46 billion in the first half (H1) of 2025 from SAR 1.31 billion. The earnings per share (EPS) went up to SAR 0.98 in H1-25 from SAR 0.88 in H1-24, according to the interim financial results. Likewise, the clients' deposits recorded an 8.20% year-on-year (YoY) rise to SAR 123.92 billion in the first six months (6M) of 2025, compared to SAR 114.53 billion. Assets jumped by 11.43% to SAR 161.90 billion in H1-25 from SAR 145.29 billion in H1-24, while the investments climbed by 25.10% to SAR 28.63 billion from SAR 22.89 billion. Financials for Q2 In the second quarter (Q2) of 2025, Bank Albilad logged net profits amounting to SAR 765.80 million, an annual leap of 14.16% from SAR 670.80 million. Quarterly, the Q2-25 net profits climbed by 9.33% from SAR 700.40 million in January-March 2025. Dividends The board members announced cash dividends after Zakat of SAR 675 million, equivalent to 4.50% of the bank's share capital, for H1-25. Bank Albilad will distribute SAR 0.45 per share for 1.50 billion eligible shares, according to a bourse statement. The Saudi Investment Bank (SAIB) generated SAR 1.01 billion in net profit during the first half (H1) of 2025, higher by 9.36% than SAR 928.80 million in H1-24. Earnings per share (EPS) was kept unchanged at SAR 0.68 as of 30 June 2025, according to the interim financial statements. The clients' deposits increased by 10% to SAR 100.23 billion in the first six months (6M) of 2025 from SAR 95.36 billion in the year-ago period. Assets widened by 16.69% YoY to SAR 167.29 billion in H1-25 from SAR 143.35 billion, while the investments hiked by 23.78% YoY to SAR 43.05 billion from SAR 34.78 billion.
