He said that close relations between both parties help ensure continued development and smooth organisation of programmes for the people, as seen in Penampang over the years.
He then added that the same applies to other districts with amicable working relations with government leaders, ensuring development and policies for those constituencies are achieved.
Benedick made these remarks at the Kepayan Kaamatan Festival on Sunday (June 1), attended by leaders including Kepayan assemblyman Jannie Lasimbang and PH leaders Steven Shim, Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe, Datuk Chan Foong Hin, Vivian Wong, and Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii.
"Each time there is an issue that needs attention in Kepayan, I will sit with the assemblyman to find solutions. We do not work in silos but as a team," he said.
He mentioned that some ongoing projects in Penampang include the flood mitigation project, Terian-Buayan road upgrading, bridge construction in Babagon, and the PANTAS programme in Kg. Togudon.
A Penampang Development Plan 2024-2035 is also included in the proposals for the 13th Malaysia Plan (RMK13), Benedick added.
"I am confident that with these strategic plans and work relations among various parties, including the federal and state governments, Penampang will continue to receive better allocations and development benefits in RMK13," he said.
Many economic and development initiatives have been implemented in Penampang, including the National Entrepreneurship Institute (INSKEN), Tekun Nasional, and the Tamu Desa project.
On Kaamatan, Benedick said the festival is celebrated by people from all cultural and social backgrounds, in line with the 'Kaamatan for All' theme chosen for this year.

Amanah Sabah gears up for state polls, eyes winnable seats

'Our focus is clear, for Amanah to contest, we must secure winnable seats,' he said after the launch of Amanah Sabah's election machinery here on Saturday. Lahirul said the final decision on candidates would lie with the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition leadership, and emphasised the importance of loyalty and unity within the party. 'Being the candidate is not the main priority. Whoever is chosen, whether it is me or another candidate from PH component parties, we must all give our full support,' he said. He acknowledged that the party faces challenges, especially with a smaller number of seats available compared to before, and said the final allocation will depend on ongoing negotiations, including possible talks with Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS). 'For this election, although some call it a 'friendly contest', we will do our best to minimise clashes with other parties,' he said. Meanwhile, Lahirul called on Amanah's grassroots to be fully prepared, noting that the party has grown steadily in Sabah over the past decade. 'Since establishing a presence in Sabah 10 years ago, Amanah has expanded to 18 areas in the state with about 15,000 members,' he said. KOTA KINABALU (July 19): Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) is looking to contest five state seats in Sabah for the upcoming state election, with one seat already confirmed under the Pakatan Harapan-Barisan Nasional (PH-BN) seat negotiations, said party president Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu. Speaking to the media after launching Amanah's election machinery here today, Mohammad said the party remains fully committed to working with its PH partners despite mobilising its own grassroots campaign. 'First of all, Pakatan Harapan will move as one,' he stressed. 'But when it comes to activating our Amanah members, we have to deploy them ourselves. We will cooperate fully with all component parties,' he said. He said Amanah is targeting around five seats, including Sulabayan, Tanjung Aru, and Lumadan. Asked if contesting in Warisan's stronghold Sulabayan would be a risky move, Mohamad responded that the matter remains speculative for now. 'It's not certain we will get that seat. Whatever is decided later will be based on negotiations. For now, we can only mention it as a possibility,' he said. On whether the seat for Tanjung Aru has been confirmed for Amanah, he explained: 'Tanjung Aru has been given to PH but that does not mean Amanah is guaranteed the seat yet. PH includes Keadilan, Amanah, DAP and UPKO. The final decision will be made once party leaders sign off.' Addressing Sabah's growing preference for local parties, Mat Sabu said Amanah will ensure that all its candidates are Sabahan, and will ramp up grassroots efforts to build local trust and visibility.
