‘He Yearns For the Shop:' Woman Can't Get Her Baby to Stop Crying. Then She Turns on a YouTube Mechanic

A mom discovered the key to stop her baby from crying: Play the sounds of a mechanic's shop. Hannah Plunkett's TikTok depicts her baby's quiet enjoyment of service tech sounds. People overwhelmingly agree it's an early indicator of his future career path. Though it is possible it merely speaks to infants' and children's fascination with mechanics. As of this writing, her post has 11 million views. Plunkett begins her video recording her child swaying to and fro in a baby carriage swing. The wide-eyed infant isn't making a sound. 'Baby has cried off and on all day for 10 hours. NOTHING has soothed him,' Plunkett writes in the text overlay. 'I have tried everything.' Then she tried something unconventional. 'Turned on mechanic sounds on YouTube and he instantly stopped,' she adds. She pans her camera to a TV that's playing a slideshow of different vehicles in a garage. As the images cycle through, the noise of drilling, hammering, and other service work plays in the background. All the while Plunkett's baby sits quietly, looking around the room. She Doesn't Understand Why It's Still Dry The child-centric blog, Romper , wrote about kids' obsession with automobiles. Child development experts told them kids like toy cars so much because it echoes real life. These toys are 'familiar objects,' which fascinate them. This logic could also explain why kids like playing with keys. Additionally, a pediatric psychologist noted that children with heightened levels of testosterone tend to be more fascinated with vehicles. There are perks to playing with toy cars, per Romper . Often, the storylines children craft when playing with toy vehicles include aspects of teamwork and problem solving. For example, a child may race a firetruck along the carpet to put out a fire and have police officers work together with emergency workers to save the people. Creating a course for cars to race on also helps tune a child's fine motor skills, Romper notes. So does piecing together a train set by linking carts together and setting up a track. Both these tasks require patience, focus, and hand-eye coordination. 'Babies With Preset Careers' Enjoying playing with toy cars is one thing. Being soothed by the sound of a mechanic's shop is another. 'Okay but how did we get to this discovery,' one person wondered. Another joked that the child is already a seasoned service tech veteran. '(Takes bottle out of mouth) you're gonna need a new alternator,' they wrote. As it turns out, Plunkett's baby isn't the only kid enthralled by automobile sounds. 'My daughter was teething really bad the other night, midnight screaming for an hour. My brother come out & said watch this…put skids on she stopped in 2.5 seconds,' one remarked. Another thought that the infant's love for mechanical sounds is a clear sign of his future vocation. 'Babies with preset careers are so funny to me,' they quipped. How Often You Really Need to Wash Your Car (Inside and Out), According to a Cleaning Expert

You can typically tell how dirty your car is just by looking at it. There's usually caked-on mud on the exterior and maybe some sandy grit on the interior's carpet. While cleaning your car only when it becomes noticeably messy is technically fine, that doesn't mean it's ideal. We spoke to a cleaning expert to learn how often we should actually be cleaning our cars and the impacts it can have when we don't do it Maker, cleaning expert and founder of Clean My SpaceMelissa Maker, cleaning expert and founder of Clean My Space, says cleaning your car regularly is very important. 'It's best to try to clean the exterior of the car once a month,' she says, or on an as-needed basis depending on the time of year or how often you use the car. 'In the winter, you typically want to clean your car more regularly,' she explains. 'There's dirt building up on the vehicle's exterior,' which can be very transferable to your jacket or pants. The same thought process goes for when you take a road trip during the summer. 'The sides of your car get really dusty or covered in bugs,' says Maker. 'That's when you should increase the frequency of washing.' How often you should clean the car's interior will also depend on how often you drive. Maker states you can clean it seasonally with detailing products—or even twice a year if you aren't driving too much or going on any long trips. She adds vacuuming the interior regularly is a good idea while also doing a quick garbage check to keep things tidy. 'Whenever we leave the car, we take everything inside with us,' Maker states. 'Whether it's garbage or whatever the case may be, nothing stays in the car.' Related: 7 Things You Shouldn't Store in Your Car If you don't wash your car often, there can be some issues down the road. 'The downside of not washing your car regularly is that salt, dirt, acid, and dead bugs can wear down the paint,' says Maker, causing the exterior to dull. 'If you really care about your car and you want it to sparkle, make sure that you wash your car to get rid of that buildup.' Maintaining a clean car also cuts down the risk of rust build-up and corrosion, which may affect your car's performance and overall "health." 'Whenever you're washing your car, whether it's by hand or at a car washing service, you don't want to do it on a sunny day,' says Maker. That's because soap or any other cleaning products you use can dry quickly outside in the sunlight and leave behind a filming residue. The most ideal time of day to wash your car is 'either first thing in the morning or at dusk,' says Maker, or on a cloudy day. But washing a car indoors in a clean garage will also do and you won't need to worry about the time of day. Read the original article on Real Simple

Shane van Gisbergen extends winning streak with an intense NASCAR Cup victory at Sonoma

Shane van Gisbergen started Sunday's Cup race from Sonoma Raceway on pole position, and he stayed there for most of the day. SVG has now won the last three road/street courses on the schedule, securing Red Bull's first win as a primary sponsor in the Cup Series since the 2011 season. "Yeah, it was pretty tough stuff," said SVG, who led 97 of 110 laps. "We had an amazing car. Chase Briscoe, what a great racer and gave me respect. Jumped the last one a little bit and it was pretty tense, but amazing. So stoked for Red Bull, Trackhouse, Chevy. I believe we had a really fun weekend here, some great races, and I hope everyone enjoyed that." Advertisement Watch: Cabernet Shane! SVG chose to stay out on older tires, and 13 other drivers did the same. Chase Elliott led the way among the drivers who pitted for fresh rubber, but his forward progress was hindered by a series of cautions, burning up several laps. A crash from Noah Gragson and a spin into the tire barriers by Ricky Stenhouse Jr. both forced restarts, but in both situations, van Gisbergen remained in form control of the race. Advertisement Elliott got all the way up to third while Chase Briscoe finished exactly where he started -- second. Michael McDowell and Christopher Bell rounded out the top five with Tyler Reddick, Ty Gibbs, William Byron, Joey Logano, and Kyle Busch filling out the rest of the top ten. Stage 1 and 2 Chase Briscoe, Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota Chase Briscoe, Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota At the start of the race, things were mostly clean as SVG drove off with the lead. However, he and most of the field chose to flip the stage, short-pitting before the scheduled caution. His teammate Ross Chastain took another path, staying out and earning his first stage win of the year. Despite pitting, van Gisbergen still managed to end the stage in second place. Advertisement As the second stage got underway, there was some more contact throughout the pack, with A.J. Allmendinger and John Hunter Nemechek both going for a spin. SVG again chose to pit from the lead while Kyle Larson stayed out to try and win the stage. However, that didn't work out for him as van Gisbergen ran him down and passed him for the stage win. Stage 3 Ryan Blaney, Team Penske Ford Ryan Blaney, Team Penske Ford The final stage was the wildest of all as Ryan Blaney got sent into the dirt by Chris Buescher, getting stuck on a hill off-track and causing the first caution for an incident. At the same time, both Bubba Wallace and Denny Hamlin spun. And while tensions were rising on the track, it was also getting heated in the pit lane as the RFK Racing and Joe Gibbs Racing pit crews got into a small scuffle. Advertisement The final round of green-flag pit stops began with about 30 laps to go, but van Gisbergen waited until 26 laps to go to make his final stop. He continued to lead for the remainder of the race, despite multiple restarts where he had to fend off Briscoe. To read more articles visit our website.
