The Pakistan Super League PSL ) is running parallel to the Indian Premier League IPL ) and there is a lot of cricket to be followed for fans and experts alike. Former Pakistani cricketer Ramiz Raja was at the presentation ceremony after a PSL match, accidentally mixed up the two leagues and presented an award for 'catch of the IPL'.The former Pakistan Cricket Board chief invited Joshua Little to collect his 'Catch of the Match' award after the game between Multan Sultans and Lahore Qalandars on Tuesday. Raja called the award 'Catch of the IPL' instead of PSL.The stakeholders at the presentation ceremony were stunned to hear what Raja said. A section of Pakistan fans have even sought an apology from Ramiz for his faux pas.In the match, Multan Sultans won the contest after defending the total of 228 runs against Lahore Qalandars. Multan's Yasir Khan was the Player of the Match for his knock of 87 runs off just 44 balls. Iftikhar Ahmed , with a quick-fire 40 off 18 balls was the second-highest scorer for the Sultans.For Lahore, Sikandar Raza scored 50 off 27 balls but in vain. The team could only reach 195/9 in 20 overs, losing by 33 runs."Have been working hard for this day, our team needed this kind of innings. Happy to contribute. There's a lot of hard work and practice behind this. That's why I didn't face any issue. This is how I play my shots, I know my power, I can hit it straight and over midwicket. Wanted to back my strengths. Had been waiting for my opportunity," Yasir said after the match.

Ab is still better than half the internationals at IPL. Maybe even more,' Steyn wrote on X. Chasing 196 at Edgbaston, De Villiers was at his vintage best, smashing an unbeaten 120 off just 60 balls. His knock, studded with 10 boundaries and eight sixes, featured a crucial 72-run opening stand with Hashim Amla, followed by an unbroken 125-run partnership with JP Duminy, who scored a fluent 51*. Earlier, Pakistan Champions—who reached the final after India refused to play them in the WCL semifinals due to ongoing geopolitical tensions—opted to bat first after winning the toss. Opener Sharjeel Khan gave Pakistan a flying start with a sublime 76 off 44 balls, putting on a 76-run stand with Shoaib Malik. However, the momentum dipped in the middle overs as Hardus Viljoen and Wayne Parnell picked up two wickets each. De Villiers finished WCL 2025 with 429 runs, including three centuries.

Abhishek Nayar: Want to create culture of winning trophies at UP Warriorz
Former India assistant coach Abhishek Nayar views his new role as head coach of the Women's Premier League side UP Warriorz as more of an opportunity than a challenge, as he aims to build a trophy-winning culture. Nayar was appointed as the head coach of the franchise after a disappointing last-place finish in the WPL earlier this year, which followed its fourth-place finish in 2024 and third-place finish in the inaugural edition in 2023. 'I've always looked at anything as opportunities, and this is an opportunity, which I'm very, very excited for in that regard,' Nayar told PTI. 'The opportunity is to create a culture where everyone understands that this franchise plays to win trophies, and try and bring that mentality into our ecosystem,' he said. Unfazed by how the last three seasons in WPL have gone for his new franchise, Nayar said the only challenge for them is to move up. 'If I have to be brutally honest, I'm not sure yet what challenges (are that) I'm about to face. I don't know, and that's the exciting part,' he said. 'I don't look at the challenges. I look at the opportunities. The opportunities with our team this year are that we've obviously been last, last year, so there's only one way up,' he said. As he gears up to take up a big role in the WPL, Nayar pointed out specific changes that he has observed in women's cricket in India. 'When you saw the England Women's team facing up against the Indian Women's team, you could see a stark difference in power and in the variety of shots; the bowlers as well,' he said. 'It's not often that an Indian women's team travels abroad and wins with such conviction. When that happens, you know that Indian cricket is in the right hands. They're moving in the right direction.' 'KKR is family to me. Everyone throws his weight way too much around (the fact) that it's family, but for me, I think it's family because the speed at which I came back [to the team] was a testament to the fact that that's where I belong in a lot of ways,' he said.

AB De Villiers played in the IPL with Chris Gayle for Royal Challengers Bengaluru from 2011 to 2017, and they both helped RCB reach IPL finals in 2011 and 2016. Legendary South African batter and former captain AB de Villiers played in a total of 184 IPL matches for two teams—Delhi Capitals (formerly Delhi Daredevils) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (formerly Royal Challengers Bangalore)—and scored a total of 5162 runs. During his IPL career from 2008 to 2021, ABD hammered three centuries and 40 fifties. The 41-year-old cricketer, who is one of the greatest players of all time, in a recent interview with Shubhankar Mishra on his YouTube channel, picked his all-time IPL XI. In his list of 11 players, ABD included five from Mumbai Indians and two from Chennai Super Kings. But surprisingly there was no place for Chris Gayle and Rashid Khan.
