The International Cricket Council (ICC) has officially announced the full schedule for the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup 2025, set to be jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka from September 30 to November 2. The 13th edition of the prestigious tournament will kick off with hosts India facing Sri Lanka in Bengaluru, while defending champions Australia begin their campaign against rivals New Zealand on October 1 in Indore. Matches will be held across five cities—Bengaluru, Vizag, Indore, Guwahati and Colombo.
The final will be played on November 2 in either Bengaluru or Colombo. Warm-up matches begin on September 24. The most anticipated match of any ICC event—that between India and Pakistan—will be played on October 5 in Colombo.
The ICC Women's World Cup 2025 will be played in a round-robin cum knockout format. During the round-robin stage, all eight participating teams will play one match against each of the seven other teams. The four teams finishing at the top of the points table after this stage will book their place in the semi-finals. The winners of the two semi-finals will then play against each other for the winner's trophy in the final.

STAND-IN captain Smriti Mandhana hit a scintillating century (112 off 62 balls) while left-arm spinner N Shree Charani, with figures of 4/12, made a dream debut as India Women crushed England Women by 97 runs in the opening T20I at Nottingham on Saturday. Mandhana's maiden century in T20 internationals guided India to 210/5, India's second-highest total in T20Is, after being asked to bat first. The 28-year-old's 112 was also the highest individual score for an Indian in WT20Is. In reply, the hosts, despite Nat Sciver-Brunt's 42-ball 66, lost wickets at regular intervals and were eventually bowled out for 113 in 14.5 overs. Shree Charani was the destructor-in-chief with the ball as she accounted for four wickets, including the big wicket of Sciver-Brunt. Mandhana, who was deservedly adjudged the Player of the Match, was in her element as she tore apart the England bowling attack. The left-handed batter punished the likes of Em Arlott, Linsey Smith and Sophie Ecclestone and reached the three-figure mark in 51 balls. The Mumbai-born batter's innings included as many as 15 fours and three sixes. Mandhana's splendid innings finally came to an end in the final over. This was incidentally England's heaviest defeat in this format. (AP) Smriti Mandhana set up brilliantly with a fluent century, becoming the only Indian player with a century in each format – Tests, ODIs and now T20s. She led from the front in some style after skipper Harmanpreet Kaur was rested as a precaution after suffering a head injury during a warm-up match against an ECB eleven. She was on the balcony cheering as Mandhana stroked a boundary to reach a 51-ball century. The left-handed opener took charge and made full-use of a good pitch to hit a 62-ball 112, (16x4, 3x6). It took India to a huge 210/5 and the hosts never recovered from early setbacks to be dismissed for 113 in 14.5 overs. The Indian innings also saw valuable contributions from No. 3 Harleen Deol (43 off 23) after Shafali Verma (20 - 22 b), on a comeback, raised 77 runs for the first wicket with Mandhana. Mandhana played shots all around the wicket and none of the England bowlers had any impact on her until she was caught in the final over. ICC to host 'Run for Peace, Innovation" in Jammu on Sunday

Addressing a press conference here, Rahul Sahai, Chairman, ICC Jammu, stated, 'This run is more than just a sporting event—it is a movement to position Jammu as a hub for peace, wellness, and a new frontier of innovation, IT, and startups. We are honoured to host this event with the support of dignitaries and the participation of youth, entrepreneurs, and changemakers.' Sports Minister Satish Sharma will flag off the run, he added.
