Amarnath Yatra Day 4: 7,000 Pilgrims Depart From Jammu, Over 48,000 Devotees Have Paid Obeisance
According to official data, 21,109 pilgrims visited the shrine on Saturday, July 5. This included 16,159 males, 3,921 females, 226 children, 250 sadhus, 29 sadhvis, 3 transgender devotees, and 521 security personnel. This brings the cumulative total to 48,972 yatris since the commencement of the Yatra.
Meanwhile, the fifth batch comprising 7,000 pilgrims left the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu early Sunday and proceeded towards the twin base camps of Baltal in Ganderbal and Nunwan in Pahalgam, Anantnag, under tight security.
As per the details, the convoy departed in 312 vehicles, including 136 buses, 70 medium motor vehicles, and 106 light motor vehicles.
The group consisted of 6,196 males, 1,427 females, 24 children, 247 sadhus, 84 sadhvis, and 1 transgender pilgrim. Of them, 3,753 pilgrims opted for the Baltal route, while 4,226 proceeded via Pahalgam.
The Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB) and the Jammu and Kashmir administration have ensured extensive arrangements, including medical aid, accommodation, langar services, and security surveillance to facilitate a smooth and secure pilgrimage.
The Yatra, which began on July 3 and is set to conclude on August 9, involves a challenging trek to the Amarnath Cave at an altitude of 3,888 meters, where devotees worship the naturally formed ice Shiva Lingam. Pilgrims are advised to carry RFID cards, compulsory health certificates, and prepare for high-altitude conditions with proper hydration and fitness.

Pilgrims participating in Amarnath Yatra receive free langar services in Jammu
Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], July 8 (ANI): Thousands of pilgrims participating in the ongoing Amarnath Yatra 2025 are receiving free langar services at the Jammu base camp and other locations, including the National Highway. Virender Kumar Sharma, who has been organizing the langar facility for the past 17 years, said, 'We have been running this langar for almost 17 years, and it's a completely free service. People come from far-off places, and whoever comes here, they have devotion towards it and also make donations. There are many langars in the city, but we run this langar for free and don't expect anything in return.' The pilgrims have expressed gratitude for the security forces and the arrangements along the Pahalgam route. Siddharth Agrawal, a first-time pilgrim, praised the security personnel, saying, 'I am here for the first time. Despite recent incidents, the armed forces are working hard for us. We may not have had the courage to come here without their support. We are roaming around freely because they are standing here with guns. I salute the CRPF and the J-K Police.' Nilesh Upadhyay, another pilgrim undertaking the yatra for the 13th time, echoed similar sentiments, saying, 'The arrangements are very good. There is peace here.' Union Minister Jitendra Singh stated that around 26,000-27,000 pilgrims have visited the Amarnath Yatra since its commencement on July 2, dispelling concerns that the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam might deter pilgrims. The 38-day annual Amarnath pilgrimage to the 3,880-metre-high holy cave shrine in South Kashmir began on July 3, 2025 and will conclude on August 9, 2025 (Raksha Bandhan). The pilgrimage began simultaneously from both routes - Pahalgam track (Anantnag district) and Baltal (Ganderbal district). Amarnath Yatra is an annual pilgrimage to the Amarnath cave, where devotees pay homage to an ice stalagmite believed to be the lingam of Lord Shiva. He also directed that cleanliness, electricity, and lighting arrangements along the Kanwar path be of the highest standard. The chief minister asked officials to guarantee the availability of proper rest areas and clean drinking water, keeping the needs of devotees in mind. SRINAGAR: Union tourism minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Monday said tourism in Kashmir, which was severely impacted by the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack , was now showing signs of revival following various initiatives taken by the Centre and the J&K govt. 'The efforts by J&K govt, along with central govt's initiatives like sending delegations, organising conferences etc., have helped in rebuilding confidence,' Shekhawat said. 'These efforts will bear fruit and in the coming days, tourism in Kashmir will be back in full swing.' The minister mentioned that he had visited Kashmir last month and had sent out a message that the Valley was safe. 'What happened is unfortunate, but we must move forward,' he added. During his visit, Sinha chaired a meeting with the administrative and security officials and discussed measures taken for a safe and hassle-free yatra. He commended the significant contribution of all stakeholders in the smooth conduct of the annual pilgrimage. Sinha was accompanied by Shri AmarnathJi Shrine Board CEO Mandeep K.
