Delhi is under a 'yellow alert' with rain and thunderstorms forecast for Tuesday, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 27 degrees Celsius, 0.9 notch above normal, according to the weather department.
A 'yellow alert' under the IMD's colour-coded warning system indicates the need to "be aware" of potentially impactful weather.
The IMD has forecast a generally cloudy sky with moderate rain expected during the day with the maximum temperature likely to settle at 34 degrees Celsius.
Relative humidity was recorded at 70 per cent at 8.30 am.
Meanwhile, the AQI clocked at 85, according to the Central Pollution Control Board's (CPCB) national bulletin.
According to the CPCB, an AQI between zero and 50 is considered "good", 51 and 100 "satisfactory", 101 and 200 "moderate", 201 and 300 "poor", 301 and 400 "very poor", and 401 and 500 "severe".

Gangtok (Sikkim) [India], July 8 (ANI): Sikkim is grappling with its most severe monsoon shortfall in five years, registering a 35% deficit in rainfall between June 1 and July 8, 2025, according to the latest data from the India Meteorological Department's (IMD) Meteorological Centre in Gangtok. GN Raha, Director of the Meteorological Centre Gangtok, confirmed that five of the six districts in the Himalayan state have received deficient rainfall, sparking concerns over agriculture, drinking water supply, and environmental stability. Sikkim is facing an alarming monsoon shortfall, recording a 35% deficit in rainfall between June 1 to July 8, 2025, as per the latest report issued by the Meteorological Centre, Gangtok of the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The data reveals that five out of six districts in the state have received deficient rainfall, raising concerns over agriculture, water availability, and the overall ecological balance. Gyalshing recorded the highest deficit at -49%, followed by Gangtok at -37%, Mangan -34%, Pakyong -23%, and Namchi -20%. Soreng, with a -13% departure, was the only district to fall under the 'normal' category. This year marks a dramatic shift in the monsoon pattern when compared to the last four years, all of which witnessed either normal or excess rainfall. A record reviewed from the IMD Gangtok reveals the following trend: 2024 saw a +68% excess, 2023 had +18%, 2022 recorded +44%, and 2021 saw +15%. This sharp decline has made 2025 the worst monsoon year in half a decade for the Himalayan state. (ANI)

Bhopal: The intensity of showers may increase in Bhopal on Wednesday. A warning of heavy rainfall was issued for the city and many other places in MP. The day temperature in Bhopal on Tuesday was recorded at 28.2 degrees Celsius, four degrees less than the normal mark, while the night temperature in the city was 22.8 degrees Celsius, a degree less than the normal mark. The city recorded 26.8 mm of rain in the last 24 hours until 8:30 am on Tuesday. In the forecast for Bhopal on Wednesday, the meteorological department stated there would be a generally cloudy sky with a few spells of rainfall and thunderstorms, and one or two spells may be heavy. In the forecast for the state, the meteorological department issued a warning of extremely heavy rainfall and thunderstorms with lightning at Seoni, Mandla, and Balaghat districts.

Ranchi: The Ranchi office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday issued a yellow alert for four districts including Gumla, Simdega, Khunti and West Singhbhum on Wednesday forecasting the possibility of heavy rainfall in the areas. "Due to the ongoing weather systems, heavy rainfall is likely to occur at isolated places over south-western parts of the state, in districts including Gumla, Simdega, Khunti and West Singhbhum. Thunderstorm and lightning is likely to occur at isolated places over the state on Wednesday," the IMD scientist added. Several places across the state experienced rain on Tuesday, state capital Ranchi recorded 5.8 mm rainfall on Tuesday, Jamshedpur 14.5 mm, Bokaro 1.2 mm, and Khunti recorded the highest maximum rainfall at 18 mm. The state recorded 440.4 mm rainfall from June 1 till Tuesday. During the period, four districts recorded excess rainfall, one district – Giridih recorded normal rainfall, and five districts experienced deficient rainfall, while the other 14 districts received large excess rainfall. A diversion on the Dodma to Govindpur road in Torpa block in Ranchi has been washed away due to the heavy showers, affecting road connectivity in multiple villages. Movement of heavy vehicles on the route also came to a complete halt. Garhwa recorded the highest maximum temperature at 32.7 degrees Celsius on Tuesday. Jamshedpur, on the other hand, recorded 30.4 degrees Celsius, Daltonganj 32.1 degrees Celsius, Bokaro 31.2 degrees Celsius, and Chaibasa recorded 29.8 degrees Celsius.
