Abdulla Al Hamed explores media, technology cooperation in London

Abdulla bin Mohammed bin Butti Al Hamed, Chairman of the National Media Office (NMO) and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the UAE Media Council, met in London with Tom Hudson, Specialist in Tech Investment and Legal & Government Affairs, and author of 'Exponential Emirates: the Exponential Country for the Exponential Age'.
The meeting focused on exploring avenues for high-impact partnerships, and on leveraging global best practices in technology investment to develop and future-proof the UAE's media infrastructure.
Both sides discussed the importance of integrating legal and regulatory frameworks with technological innovation to build an advanced and sustainable media ecosystem.
Al Hamed listened to Hudson's insights on the use of modern technologies to support the media sector, drawing from his extensive experience advising major companies and initiatives in digital transformation, government regulatory frameworks, and international expansion.
Al Hamed stressed that the sweeping technological shifts underway today require media institutions to lead in adopting artificial intelligence and data analytics.
'Our vision in the UAE is to build a media ecosystem that is agile, innovative, and capable of anticipating audience needs while producing content that reflects our national aspirations and deep-rooted identity,' he said.
During the meeting, Hudson also presented his book ''Exponential Emirates: the Exponential Country for the Exponential Age', which describes the extraordinary growth story of the UAE, and how it has almost uniquely harnessed the features of exponential organisations, showcasing achievements from the past 50 years and looking ahead to future milestones.
The discussion also highlighted how companies can seize emerging opportunities in the UAE, and how other nations can draw inspiration from its model.

19 July 2025 20:17 CAIRO (WAM) Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Yamahi, President of the Arab Parliament, strongly condemned the dangerous escalation by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West a statement issued, Al Yamahi described the ongoing blockade, starvation, and targeting of civilians—particularly women, children and families—as a fully fledged crime committed in plain view of the stated, 'What is happening in Gaza, from deliberate starvation to deadly siege, leaving children, women and families to die from hunger or by bullets, is a crime the global conscience can no longer bear.'Al Yamahi also warned against the Israeli occupation's illegal decision to transfer the administration and supervision of the Ibrahimi Mosque from the Palestinian Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs to what is known as the 'Jewish Religious Council.' He condemned the move as a blatant violation of international resolutions, including those issued by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO).He stressed the danger of such illegal actions, which form part of a wider plan by the occupation to alter the historical, legal and religious status of Islamic holy sites in the occupied Palestinian territory and impose a fabricated Israeli sovereignty over them. He reaffirmed that all such decisions and actions are illegal and void under international Yamahi also denounced the Israeli military's continued targeting of places of worship in Gaza, including mosques and churches, the most recent being the Latin Patriarchate church, which was sheltering around 600 Palestinians, including children and persons with disabilities. China reports robust trade, investment with Belt and Road countries

China has seen robust trade and investment with countries participating in Belt and Road cooperation over the past years, Vice Commerce Minister Li Chenggang told a press conference on Friday. The combined trade between China and its related countries increased from US$2.7 trillion in 2021 to US$3.1 trillion last year, with an average annual growth rate of 4.7 per cent, Li said. The volume accounted for 50.7 percent of China's total foreign trade in 2024, up from 45.3 percent in 2021, according to Xinhua. From 2021 to the first half this year, two-way investment between China and Belt and Road countries had accumulated to more than 240 billion U.S. dollars, including over 160 billion US$ dollars flowing into Belt and Road countries and over 80 billion dollars into China. Li said Belt and Road cooperation projects had advanced steadily, enhanced infrastructure connectivity, improved people's lives and fostered talent for local development. From 2021 to the first half of this year, China's overseas engineering contracts had reached a cumulative turnover of nearly 600 billion U.S. dollars. To develop emerging industries and expand cooperation space, China has signed investment cooperation memoranda with more than 50 Belt and Road countries in key sectors such as the digital, green, and blue economies.
