Sparks' tunnel fits turn heads before Liberty clash
The LA Sparks relied on a Rickea Jackson buzzer-beater to land a hugely entertaining 101-99 victory over the New York Liberty on Saturday. The Liberty lost Breanna Stewart to a lower leg injury less than three minutes into the game, and saw the likes of Sabrina Ionescu and Natasha Cloud combine for a whopping 52 points.
However, it did not prove enough, as a team effort from the Sparks saw four of their players score at least 17 points. A similar concerted effort could be seen in the Sparks' pre-game fits, with player outfits being praised by users on X.
Rae Burrell, who wore a collared shirt with white sneakers and a long jacket, also sported sunglasses as she walked into the arena. Rickea Jackson, who contributed 24 points to lead her team in scoring, wore a leopard-print dress with a black leather jacket.
Searica Hamby sported a trendy tie on a grey overall dress with black boots, while Kelsey Plum showed up with grey overalls and a rather length black belt.
The outfits were the first thing that impressed on a night when the Sparks produced one of their best displays of the season. Jackson produced a buzzer-beating 2-pointer to hand the Liberty their first loss after five straight wins.
The Sparks saw Azura Stevens produce 17 points and 11 rebounds, while Hamby also finished with a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Julie Allemand only had four points on the night but also added 10 assists, while Kelsey Plum produced 20 points and eight assists.
Finally, Burrell added 12 points in 18 minutes off the bench to round off a true masterclass from the Sparks. They will now take on the Las Vegas Aces and will look to improve their 11-14 record. The Liberty, on the other hand, have had an extremely strong season thus far. The loss puts them at 17-7 for the season, as they will now take on the Dallas Wings.

Oregon Ducks land commitment from 5-star DB Davon Benjamin
Dand Lanning and the Oregon Ducks filled the summer offseason months with a lot of recruiting wins, and it doesn't appear that they are slowing down now that we're getting into fall, either. 5-star cornerback Davon Benjamin picked Oregon over the likes of the Texas Longhorns and Michigan Wolverines on Saturday afternoon. The 247Sports Composite rates Benjamin as the No. 35 overall player in the 2026 class, and the No. 4 safety. He stands at 6-foot, 170 pounds. While he is listed at safety, there is an expectation that he will move around in the secondary for Oregon. Benjamin is the Ducks' 17th member of the 2026 class, and the fifth 5-star player, which is the most in the nation. Ahead of Saturday, Oregon had the No. 8 class in the nation, but with the addition of Benjamin, they move up to No. 7. The commitment doesn't come as a major surprise, seeing as there was a crystal ball prediction from the 247Sports recruiting staff for Benjamin to pick the Ducks. With Benjamin now in the mix, Oregon wrapped up the remaining major targets left on its board. Over the next several months throughout the season, there are some players out there who the Ducks will likely work on trying to flip from other schools, and new prospects could pop onto the radar, but Oregon's class in 2026 has shaped up nicely. WNBA says fan in Atlanta was arrested for throwing a sex toy on the court — and 1-year bans are threatened
NEW YORK — The WNBA said Saturday that the individual who threw a sex toy on the court at an Atlanta Dream game earlier in the week was arrested and that any person throwing objects onto the court will be ejected from the arena and face a minimum one-year ban. The incident in Atlanta occurred late in the fourth quarter of the Dream's game against the Golden State Valkyries on Tuesday in College Park, Georgia. On Friday, another sex toy was thrown in Chicago under a basket after a whistle was blown to stop play during the third quarter of the Valkyries' 73-66 victory over the Sky at Wintrust Arena. An official kicked the object aside before it was picked up and removed. It's unknown if the fan who threw the object at the Sky game was identified or arrested. 'The safety and well-being of everyone in our arenas is a top priority for our league,' the WNBA said in a statement. 'Objects of any kind thrown onto the court or in the seating area can pose a safety risk for players, game officials and fans. 'In line with WNBA Arena Security Standards, any fan who intentionally throws an object onto the court will be immediately ejected and face a minimum one-year ban in addition to being subject to arrest and prosecution by local authorities.' 'It's super disrespectful,' Sky center Elizabeth Williams said after Friday's game. 'I don't really get the point of it. It's really immature. Whoever is doing it needs to grow up.' New York Liberty forward Isabelle Harrison commented on social media about the situation Friday. 'ARENA SECURITY?! Hello??!' Harrison said on X. 'Please do better. It's not funny. Never was funny. Throwing ANYTHING on the court is so dangerous.' WNBA arenas have security procedures, with many having either a no-bag policy or some allowing clear bags, often limited in size. Every bag is subject to search upon arena entry.
