KOC extends major tender to expand southern oil capacity
Additionally, the Al-Julaia offshore field, discovered in January 2025, is situated in the South. It boasts of estimated reserves of approximately 800 million barrels of medium-density oil and 600 billion cubic feet of associated gas. KOC's objective in building the third water injection station is to boost its production capacity in the southern region. Water injection is a key technique that significantly aids oil extraction from reservoirs, utilizing high-pressure technologies to seal any voids in wells. Sources confirmed that KOC intends to implement the Gathering and Separation Center 3 and the Water Injection Station 3 to connect the company's oil fields through an extensive network. 'This network will facilitate the feeding of oil from the gathering centers, ensuring that processing operations are carried out in a consistent and nearly uniform manner, especially with the interconnected wells,' they added.
The company intends to issue several major tenders throughout 2025 to increase the production capacity of all oil and gas fields, including those in the northern regions. Production enhancement in the northern fields is being achieved through the agreements that KOC reached with international companies. Despite a decline in production in recent years, the Burgan field remains robust and continues to be one of the world's richest oil fields. Kuwait will depend on it for many years to come. KOC is working diligently to restore full production to its previous level of around 2.4 million barrels per day, an increase from its current production of approximately 1.7 million barrels per day.

MEW gets CAPT approval to link external sites, NDCC
KUWAIT CITY, July 21: The Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy has obtained approval from the Central Agency for Public Tenders (CAPT) to issue a tender for linking the external sites of the ministry with the National Data Control Center (NDCC), say sources from the ministry. Sources indicated that this tender is included in the contracts of the ministry for the current fiscal year and are scheduled to be implemented by the Planning, Training and Information Systems Sector. Sources revealed that the tender is for linking the external branches with the data center in the main ministry building and the NDCC in order to allow the exchange of information and provision of electronic services. Sources pointed out that 'subject to the approval of CAPT, the tender will be announced and a date will be set for specialized companies to submit their bids, select the winning bid and implement the project under the regulations.' Sources added the ministry intends to install five main power transformer stations for the Automobile Circuit Project -- Rawda Block Three, Kabd C, cow farms, Sharq Block Four and Al- Arabi Club; in addition to supplying and extending the necessary underground cables to feed the five planned stations through two tenders: the first for the stations and the second for the cables. Sources said the two tenders aim to provide the energy needed to expand the high-voltage and ultra- high-voltage electrical networks resulting from the increased demand for electricity in the aforementioned areas, as well as to provide electricity continuously throughout the day. Moreover, the ministry also confirmed the start of electricity connection in Al-Mutlaa Residential City (N1 District - parts of Block One; in cooperation with the Public Authority for Housing Welfare (PAHW). KUWAIT CITY, July 15: The Ministry of Information issued a new directive requiring its employees to record attendance using the fingerprint system at their workplaces, including the external stations and centers in the Printing and Publishing Sector. Sources told the newspaper that this measure is in response to the comments of regulatory authorities, which recently pointed out the lack of adherence to fingerprinting, particularly at external stations. 'This resulted in the disbursement of allowances and financial benefits to some employees despite their lack of entitlement due to the absence of proof that they were present at the workplace,' sources explained. Sources disclosed that the ministry resolved this issue after repeated comments by issuing an internal circular stipulating the need for fingerprint attendance at external stations for employees who are assigned to each station, effective July 1. Sources said this also applies to all other external centers. Sources confirmed that the decision aims to ensure the protection of public funds and avoid recurring comments that could lead to administrative or financial litigation. Moreover, another circular was issued to the employees at the Ministry of Information complex, emphasizing the importance of ensuring attendance registration by using both the old and new fingerprint devices. The two systems will continue to operate simultaneously during the trial period, pending a technical performance evaluation before fully adopting the new system. The ministry urged all employees to visit the fingerprint office located next to the general registry if they encounter any technical problems related to attendance. Meanwhile, sources also revealed that the Central Agency for Public Tenders (CAPT) approved the request of the ministry to reconsider the annual renewal of the contract to provide video news reports in Arabic for Kuwait State Television, in cooperation with an international media agency. Sources said the contract is valid from July 1, 2025, until June 30, 2026, at a total value of $1.5 million. Sources indicated that the ministry justified its request by citing an urgent need to continue this contract in light of the demands of media work and the need to update video news content to keep pace with regional and international developments. They said the ministry is in the process of completing the remaining oversight procedures with the relevant authorities to ensure the integrity of financial and legal procedures.

Incheon, TAV submit bids for Kuwait's T4
KUWAIT CITY, July 12: The Central Agency for Public Tenders (CAPT) has opened the financial bids for the operation, management, service improvement, training, maintenance, and development of Terminal Four (T4) at Kuwait International Airport. Sources told the Arab Times newspaper that two international companies have submitted bids, indicating the Korean company Incheon offered KD72 million, while the Turkish company TAV offered KD84 million. Sources said the offer from Incheon is the lowest among the bids. Sources revealed that the Board of Directors of CAPT referred the bidding documents to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) -- the entity concerned with the bid-- to study and analyze the offers from the technical and financial perspectives. Sources said the DGCA will present its recommendations within 30 days from the date of receiving the documents. Sources added that the directorate will base its recommendations on the results of the study conducted in this regard and then submit them to CAPT for the latter to decide whether to award the contract to the best bidder. Sources stated that the recommendations will then be referred to the remaining regulatory authorities to complete the other requirements; affirming this step is under the policy of involving the private sector in the management and operation of the airport, especially after the remarkable success of the private operator's experience with T4 over the years, which contributed to improving services provided to passengers and the achievement of high operational efficiency that were reflected in the overall performance of the airport. Sources revealed that the aforementioned companies previously met the required percentage in the technical evaluation, with the Korean company receiving a rating of 87.5 percent, while the Turkish company got a rating of 87 percent.
