Marc Cucurella feels Chelsea are back where they belong

That campaign, which has already brought Champions League qualification for the first time since 2023 and Europa Conference League success, finally comes to an end in New York this weekend.
The Blues want to end on a high by winning world governing body FIFA's controversial but lucrative tournament and Cucurella feels the team belong on such a stage.
'We've had a good season,' said the Spain international ahead of this weekend's clash against European champions Paris St Germain at MetLife Stadium.
'When I arrived at this club it was difficult and in the beginning we had a lot of changes. The results were difficult.
'But we always try to give 100 per cent. We know Chelsea is a big club. We deserve to be in the final on Sunday and we have the profile for big things.
'We have worked a lot to make this happen and hopefully we can finish the season with a big trophy.'
Cucurella feels he too has turned things around after a difficult start at the club following his £60million move from Brighton in 2022.

The Spain international is now considered one of the most consistent left-backs in the Premier League but there were times when he received criticism from his own fans.
He said: 'It was tough at the beginning because I think I'm not a player that has the quality to take the ball and change the game in one action.
'I'm more of a player that needs to have the team playing well to show my qualities. At the beginning the team maybe didn't have identity or a clear way to play.
'I enjoyed more at other clubs because when you win you are happy all week and the feeling is very different.
'When you come here, you feel like you need to win every game. It's your job and you don't celebrate. In small clubs you don't feel this pressure. It's an important thing to learn in the big clubs.'

Cucurella feels the turning point came last summer as he first won Euro 2024 with Spain and then started working with new Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca.
He said: 'After the Euros I won a lot of confidence because we played amazing football and I was very important in this team.
'Then I came here in the summer and everything was better. The manager, with his ideas, helped me a lot. He brought my best football out of me.'
Chelsea now face the tough task of trying to overcome a formidable PSG side.
Cucurella said: 'They play good football but a final is a final. I think we are ready for this game.'

Two-goal hero Cole Palmer says Chelsea silenced doubters with Club World Cup win

Cole Palmer hit back at Chelsea's critics after firing them to Club World Cup glory in New York. The England international scored two fine goals and set up a third for Joao Pedro as the Blues claimed a stunning 3-0 win over Champions League winners Paris St Germain at the MetLife Stadium. Victory, which landed the Blues a jackpot in excess of £90million, was also a tactical triumph for manager Enzo Maresca. Asked about how the team is developing under the Italian, Palmer told DAZN: 'He's building something special, something important with a young team. 'Everyone's talked a lot of s*** about us all season, but I feel like we're going in the right direction.' Reflecting on the game, Palmer added: 'Obviously it's a great feeling, even better because everyone doubted us before the game. We knew that and to go out there and put a fight on like we did against a great team, yes, it's good. 'The gaffer put a great gameplan out. Obviously he knew where the space was going to be and he tried to free me up as much as possible, and I just had to repay him and score some goals.' Palmer – whose double and assist all came within the space of 21 first-half minutes – was also the decisive player as Chelsea beat Real Betis in the Europa Conference League final in May. Maresca said: 'These are the games where we expect Cole to appear – big games and big moments – and once again he showed how good he is.' The tournament itself has been controversial and derided in many quarters but Maresca is in no doubt of the prestige it will bring the club. As well as the significant prize money, Chelsea will be entitled to wear a badge on their shirts confirming their status as world champions for the next four years. Maresca said: 'I think it will become as important as the Champions League and we value it as much as winning the Champions League. 'It has been the (best) effort from the team and all the players. I am very happy, especially for them because they deserve the moment. 'Had you told me we were going to win 3-0 in the first half I wouldn't have expected that but we knew we were going to put up a fight and we knew our squad is really competitive against talented teams.' PSG's misery was complete five minutes from time when Joao Neves was sent off for pulling Marc Cucurella's hair. Frustration was also evident as scuffles broke out after the final whistle. PSG manager Luis Enrique became involved in one incident that ended with Pedro on the ground. Enrique said: 'I saw Maresca had pushed others (away) and we had to separate all the players. 'This is a situation we must all avoid. My intention is that I wanted to separate the footballers so the situation didn't become worse.'

Donald Trump joins Chelsea on stage as they celebrate their Club World Cup win

Cole Palmer scored twice and set up another as the Blues stunned favourites Paris St Germain 3-0 in front of Trump in the final in New York. Trump, who was briefly booed by some of the 81,118 crowd at the MetLife Stadium, then presented Chelsea with the trophy alongside Gianni Infantino, president of world governing body FIFA, after the game. However, he remained in position as James lifted the trophy and the team began their celebrations amid fireworks and confetti. Chelsea's victory, the culmination of FIFA's newly-expanded 32-team tournament, also earned them a jackpot in excess of £90million. Trump earlier said he had enjoyed the occasion, telling broadcaster DAZN at half-time: 'I am having a really great time. Tremendous sport.' In a longer recorded interview broadcast after the final whistle, the president, who revealed his favourite player of all time was Pele, added when asked about the tournament: 'It's a big thing. 'Gianni is a friend of mine, he's done such a great job with the league and with soccer – or as they would call it 'football', but I guess we call it soccer. But I'm sure that change could be made very easily. 'But it's great to watch – and this is a little bit of an upset that we're watching today, isn't it? So far. It's incredible.' When it was suggested he could make an executive order to rename the sport, Trump said with a smile: 'I think we could do that, I think I could do that.' The US leader was also asked if he could see a day when the United States, which will co-host the men's World Cup along with Canada and Mexico next summer, could dominate in football, and he replied: 'I can tell you we're doing very well on the other stage, on the political stage, on the final stage. 'I was just in Saudi Arabia, I was in Qatar, I was in UAE – here we have Qatar and the big presence – and then you look at NATO. All of the leaders said, 'A year ago, your country was dead and now you have the hottest country in the world'. There's a lot of truth in that. 'We were doing very badly as a country. We had an incompetent administration and now we have a hot country. It's really hot and I think the soccer is going to be very hot here too. 'It already is. It's gotten a lot of play and with the play comes the great players, and I think it will do very well.'
