Dimitri Payet charged with ‘psychological violence' against ex who accused him of forcing her to ‘drink own urine'
Brazilian prosecutors have charged the ex-France midfielder, 38, with abusing 28-year-old lawyer Larissa Ferrari.

Payet hit 15 goals in 60 Hammers appearances and was their 2015-16 player of the season.
The married dad-of-four joined Brazilian club Vasco da Gama in 2023 and went on to form a relationship with local woman Larissa.
Rio de Janeiro prosecutors allege he took advantage of her vulnerability to start the relationship, then caused her "psychological and emotional harm" including being violent.
Police initially closed their inquiry but prosecutors reopened the case after an appeal by Larissa and have now pressed charges.
Payet has been accused of causing her emotional damage through "hurtful and degrading expressions, humiliation, manipulation and mockery".
Larissa made allegations to The Sun on Sunday in April that Payet had forced her to film degrading films, drink her own urine and water from the toilet, and lick the floor.
She also claimed she had to take part in a fake wedding and wear a ring to 'prove her love'.
Payet is said to have told Brazilian police everything between him and Larissa was consensual.

Documents from the country's Public Ministry say the couple met online and shared a mutual interest in sexual relations involving "acts of daringness and violence".
The official report states Larissa suffered depression as a result of Payet's behaviour towards her.
Her lawyers said: "This measure shows that the authorities are aware of the seriousness of the facts.
"They are minded to make sure that behaviours that harm women's dignity do not go unpunished - no matter how high-profile the suspect may be."
The footballer, whose Vasco contract was torn up earlier this month, could have to pay a huge fine and the costs of Larissa's medical treatment if the accusations against him are found to be true.
Payet's lawyer Sheila Lustoza said: "I'm surprised the case has been reopened, as it is based on information that was already out there.
"But I am confident that the legal system will recognise my client's innocence."
Payet left West Ham for Marseille in a £25million deal in January 2017 after falling out of favour with Hammers fans.
The set-piece expert, who has 38 caps, pushed for a transfer after claiming he was homesick.

THIS is the shocking moment a Virgin Atlantic passenger hurled abuse at a hostess he threatened to "gang rape and set alight" Disturbing footage shows Salman Iftikhar, 37, tell stewardess Angie Walsh she would be attacked in her hotel after landing. 7 7 He spouted his vile rant after downing champagne on an eight-hour flight from London Heathrow to Lahore on February 7 2023. Iftikhar said Ms Walsh would be taken from her hotel room, gang raped and set on fire. Another passenger, who filmed the shocking scenes, can be heard saying "holy s--t". Iftikhar repeatedly accuses Ms Walsh of being a racist and says: "You called me a p-ki in front of everybody." The 37-year-old had been flying with his wife and three children, Isleworth Crown Court heard. Prosecuting, Abdul Kapadia, said: "During the defendant's first meal service, the defendant was seen helping himself to ice, leaning over the bar he was drinking at, and taking ice with his hands. "When told to stop, the defendant became irate, and started to film cabin crew with his phone, telling them: 'Do not tell me what to do you b***h. "When asked by the cabin crew to return to his seat, he then said: 'Don't tell me what to do you racist f***ing b***h. I know where you are from in Cardiff." Staff alerted the pilot and the seat belt signs were turned on, which only aggravated Iftikhar more. He continued to call Ms Walsh a "f***ing b***h" before his escalating behaviour sparked a possible flight diversion to Turkey. I have contacts," the prosecutor told the court. "The defendant then sat down, but his aggressive behaviour continued. "His wife was ashamed. His three children were also on-board, and other crew members were called to assist, but the defendant continued shouting and swearing. "He was slurring his words, with his voice raised. 7 7 7 "He shouted at the cabin crew: 'Do you know who I am?' "The defendant's wife went to the food bar and tried to talk to cabin crew, but the defendant pushed his wife away, and shouted at her not to talk to crew." He grabbed one flight attendant, called Tommy Merchant, and threatened him with a fight. 'YOU WILL BE DEAD' The out-of-control passenger then told cabin crew he would blow up the floor of their hotel. "The defendant knew the specific hotel, but also the hotel room numbers, and threatened the cabin crew with this," Mr Kapadia told the court. "He told Ms Walsh: 'You will be dead on the floor of your hotel'. "Iftikhar shouted at Ms Walsh and said: 'The white sheep sh**ging b***h will be dead. The floor of your hotel will be blown up and it will disappear. "He told Ms Walsh: 'You will be dragged by your hair from your room and gang raped and set on fire'." His violent rant unfolded in front of his wife and three young children - who were brought to tears. Iftikhar was arrested at his £900,000 detached home in Iver, Bucks, on March 16, 2024. 'IT HAS BROKEN ME' In an impact statement, Ms Walsh said she was forced to take off 14 months and the altercation "changed my life enormously". "I can't quite believe that one passenger has had this much of an impact on my, my job, my career and my life," she said. "I am a strong brave, happy stewardess, and loved my job. I am well known within the company. "But I had to take 14 months off work. "I have been flying with Virgin Atlantic for 37 years. I was working when all flights were grounded on 9/11, and I've even flown into a warzone. But this incident has broken me. "But I don't feel strong enough anymore. I was abused for eight hours and 15 mins. It has broken me. It was a very personal attack. "I was doing everything in my power to protect passengers and the crew from him. I felt exposed and vulnerable, especially as we were 39,000 feet in the air. There was nowhere for me to go. "There was one moment where I felt I could not cope. I went into the cockpit and had a meltdown. I said to the captain I don't know what to do. "Even the threat of diverting the plane to Turkey or Baku, Azerbaijan, had no effect. "I was traumatised by the threat of being gang raped. "Never in my entire career flying for 37 years have I not been sure what to do. "I have had the best career in the world for 37 years. But he has taken that away from me." Iftikhar, of Iver, Bucks, admitted making threats to kill and racially aggravated harassment, in relation to Ms Walsh. He was cleared of assault by beating and threats to kill in relation to Mr Merchant. Ben Walker-Nolan, defending, said Iftikhar was suffering from "amnesia blood loss" at the time. Mr Walker-Nolan added: "Although there were over 100 incidents over the course of eight hours, the most serious, including threats to kill, were limited. "The defendant has buried his head in the sand for a long period, and expressed regret. "He has a long standing drug and alcohol problem which he has not addressed for many years. "He is a successful businessman who employs a lot of people." THUG JAILED Iftikhar has six previous convictions arising from 15 offences, including common assault in 2004 and drink driving in 2008 and failing to stop and possession of cannabis in 2021. Judge Ms Recorder Annabel Darlow KC said: "Your threats to kill were made in the presence of children, specifically your three young children. "These were threats made with significant violence. "Your children had to be comforted by cabin crew staff while you made those threats. "Ms Walsh has given up a job which she has loved for 14 months, but thankfully has now returned to work. "This was a sustained incident which involved repeated racist abuse to Ms Walsh. "You have a lengthy and appalling record of misconduct. You have not addressed the underlying cause of this for many years, that is your drug and alcohol problem. "Given your lifestyle and your ability to earn money, your harm and risk has not moved. "This was an appalling incident which has caused long lasting and devastating consequences." Iftikhar cried in the dock as he was jailed for 15 months. His LinkedIn profile stated that he was the director and founder of recruitment firm Staffing Match. Virgin Atlantic was contacted for comment.

‘Abuse cult' priest received sexual massages ‘to relieve tension headaches'
A former priest accused of running an abusive cult received sexual massages to relieve 'terrible tension headaches', a court has heard. Chris Brain, 68, led a group in the 1980s and 1990s in Sheffield called the Nine O'Clock Service (NOS), and was viewed by his alleged victims as a God-like 'prophet' whom they 'worshipped'. The evangelical church movement drew crowds of hundreds of young people enticed by its 'visually stunning' multimedia services featuring acid house rave music every Sunday at 9pm. Mr Brain, of Wilmslow, Cheshire, is standing trial accused of committing sexual offences against 13 women. He denies one count of rape and 36 counts of indecent assault between 1981 and 1995. At the opening of the trial in July, Tim Clark KC, prosecuting, told the court that Mr Brain ran 'a cult', surrounded by beautiful, lingerie-wearing women known as the 'Lycra Nuns', or 'Lycra Lovelies'. He said that Mr Brain used his position to abuse a 'staggering number of women'. Many of his victims were part of a 'homebase team' tasked with cooking and cleaning for Mr Brain, as well as 'putting him to bed' and giving him massages, which the court heard would often end in unsolicited groping. Giving evidence at Inner London Crown Court on Monday, Mr Brain said he received back massages from a number of women in NOS. Asked by defence counsel Iain Simkin KC how the massages began, he told the court that 'it started off because I had terrible tension headaches'. He referenced one member of the 'homebase team' who gave him massages once or twice a week 'and she could tell by touching me what the problem was'. Mr Brain gestured to the court, lifting his arms above his head to show where he was in discomfort and why he required massaging. 'It was quite severe, I remember coming home and having to lie on the bed with my face on the pillow because the pain was so bad,' he said. Asked whether there were occasions when the massages would develop into some form of sexual touching, Mr Brain replied: 'With very close friends, it may edge towards that, but both parties knew it shouldn't go there so one of us would pull back again and cool down. 'And we are talking about relationships over years and years… It worked having closeness with friends without having to involve close sexual contact, and of course, I was married.' He added: 'With some of my closest friends it would be kissing sometimes, occasionally massaging, stroking. Anything more than that we would back off.' 'Natural ecstasy' Mr Brain told the court that NOS was 'an evolving experiment' around at the 'peak of the rave boom' and embraced 'club culture' by creating 'a natural ecstasy'. As part of the 'new New Age', he added that there was a very laissez faire environment regarding 'positive sexuality' as well as encouragement of 'tantric celibacy'. 'It was normal to be physical,' he told the court. 'This was the mid-80s early '90s,' he said, adding that leggings and tight clothes were 'the fashion'. Regarding the clothes worn by female NOS members at the time, and asked if he prescribed the dress code for the 'Lycra Lovelies', Mr Brain responded: 'All these people are completely clued-up and want to wear fashion. 'This is the mid-80s, everybody was obsessed with fashion and what they wore, it was a constant topic of conversation, but that does not mean I was obsessed with what people wore.' Mr Simkin asked: 'Looking back, do you accept you were some form of inspirational character?' 'That's my thing, enthusiasm and ideas,' Mr Brain replied. Jurors have previously heard how Mr Brain had his ordination licence 'fast-tracked' in 1991 because Church of England officials viewed his organisation as 'a success story'. NOS evolved from holding services at St Thomas's Church in the Crookes area of the city, before expanding as it grew increasingly popular to a larger premises at Ponds Forge in the city centre. It collapsed in 1995 amid accusations of a sex scandal. Over the past five weeks, his alleged victims have given evidence describing NOS as full of 'brainwashing', 'grooming', 'mind games' and abuse. They claimed he told them that they 'can't be spiritual without being sexual'. The trial continues.
