4kg ganja seized in Lakadganj; accused from MP arrested

Nagpur: Over 4kg ganja worth Rs1.03 lakh was seized by Lakadganj police from the Ganga Jamuna area on Monday. Acting on a tip-off, cops apprehended Rahul Dhiware (25), a resident of Itarsi in Madhya Pradesh, with the contraband and Rs150 cash near Mehbub Baksh Pan Thela.
The seizure — 4.154 grams of ganja — was made in the presence of two panchas during a spot raid carried out by police sub-inspector Sagar Shinde and his team. The accused was taken into custody and booked under Sections 8(a), 20(b)(ii)(B), and 29 of the NDPS Act.
As per police reports, Dhiware was staying at a rented house behind Jat Durga Mandir in Itarsi and is suspected to have links with local drug peddlers. Another individual, approximately 30 years old, also from Itarsi, has been named in connection with the crime.
Cops have also launched a hunt for an unknown person suspected to be the source of the narcotics.
The entire operation was conducted under the supervision of Senior PI Hemant Chandewar, along with a dedicated team of officers including Narendra Waghmare, Mahesh Jadhav, Hitesh Rathod, Arvind Tayde, and Suraj Deshmukh.
The accused was arrested on the same day, and further investigations are underway to bust the supply chain and trace the origin of the ganja.

After depositing the clothes and leaving the premises, the garments were scanned by prison staff, who discovered 35 grams of heroin hidden within them. The suspicious material was seized under the supervision of assistant superintendent of jail Karamjit Singh Bhullar, and the matter was promptly reported to the authorities. The arrested individuals were identified as Bittu Singh and Nishan Singh, both residents of Ferozepur district. Faridkot DSP Tarlochan Singh, a gazetted officer, was called to the scene, and the car was searched in his presence. The police recovered the heroin and cash, and a case under the NDPS Act was registered against the duo.

Hyderabad: A 28-year-old software professional was arrested by the Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) for allegedly peddling narcotics. Police seized 10 grams of cocaine and 11 ecstasy pills from his possession. The accused, who is currently employed at a tech firm, reportedly turned to drug abuse following a failed relationship, that eventually led him to become a peddler, police said. The case was registered by Bolaram police, following which H-NEW took over the probe. 'First, he began using OG and shifted to harder substances like cocaine. He also became a regular at city pubs,' Hyderabad police commissioner CV Anand said. According to investigators, the accused started sourcing cocaine from Bengaluru and Goa through courier services, buying the drug at lower rates and selling it at higher prices to local customers. Police estimate the value of the seized drugs at Rs 3 lakh. He allegedly entered the peddling network around five months ago. Charges have been filed under relevant sections of the NDPS Act. Man sentenced to 7 years in jail for possession of narcotics in Kurukshetra

KURUKSHETRA: A local court in Kurukshetra has sentenced a man to seven years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 10,000 for possession of narcotic substances. The judgment was delivered by the Additional District and Sessions Judge of the Special NDPS Court on Wednesday. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The convicted individual, Kuldeep, a resident of Dhanori village in Ambala district, was found guilty under Section 15 (b) of the NDPS Act. If he fails to pay the fine, he will have to serve an additional one month in jail. District Public Prosecutor Mainpal shared details of the case, stating that on November 14, 2019, a Crime Investigation Agency-II team of the Kurukshetra police, led by sub-inspector Sharanjit Singh and head constable Lakhan Singh, was stationed near New Shere Punjab Neelkanth Dhaba in Shahabad as part of a crime surveillance operation. Acting on a tip-off, the police set up a checkpoint near the dhaba and apprehended Kuldeep. Upon searching the accused in the presence of a gazetted officer, the police recovered 7 kilograms of poppy husk, a banned substance under the NDPS Act. Kuldeep was arrested on the spot and a case was registered at Shahabad Police Station under relevant provisions of the NDPS Act. The chargesheet was later submitted in court. After a thorough trial and examination of evidence and witnesses, the court found Kuldeep guilty and pronounced the sentence on July 23, 2025.
