'Survivor' winner Luciano Plazibat reacts to the gays flooding his DMs
Between winning Survivor Croatia and going viral with a video of himself singing and dancing to "Abracadabra" by Lady Gaga, this has been a very special Pride Month for Luciano Plazibat. Now, the professional dancer and reality TV heartthrob is spilling some tea about his run on the show, his connection with Lady Gaga, and the response he's been getting from the gays since that viral video.

"I have to admit that being on Survivor Croatia was never on my wish list, let alone imagining that I could win," Plazibat tells Out. "I always thought Survivor was more for the 'manly men,' for lack of a better word. Guys who excel at sports. And I'm a dancer. This could also be my upbringing talking, but [I thought] a dancer is for Dancing With the Stars, and athletic men go to Survivor."
He adds, "I found that being a dancer definitely helped in the physical challenges on the show, so I changed my own mind and proved to myself that I'm capable of different things — even if I didn't necessarily plan for them. Survivor is hard; it was one of the most challenging experiences of my life. But after being on the show, I feel that not much else will be harder than that."
Though Plazibat is still recovering from competing on (and winning) Survivor Croatia, the 26-year-old spent the weekend celebrating Zagreb Pride, has his 27th birthday coming up in a week — Monday, June 23 — and wants to attend Tomorrowland this year.

"We're the best of friends, but she doesn't know it yet," Plazibat jokes when asked about Mother Monster. "Just kidding!"
In reality, the Survivor winner was 10 years old when he first saw Gaga "coming out of that pool in the 'Poker Face' music video," adding: "I thought to myself, 'I need to have that mask, but also those bangs.' And the rest is history; I was a fan ever since."
Plazibat says that being a Gaga fan has "kept me going as a dancer" over the years. "I'm still working towards one day performing [with her] and being on stage myself," he explains. "Name any one of her songs and I can dance it out right now."

And yet, that creative connection with Gaga actually took an even more personal turn while Plazibat competed on Survivor Croatia.
"In week two, some of the contestants made fun of me for being her fan. They even mentioned it as one of the reasons why I should be kicked out… half-jokingly, probably," he recalls. "But, to me, it became like a symbol of staying on Survivor. The longer I stayed, the more I would sing and dance."
Plazibat's also proud to reveal that loving Lady Gaga is a family affair. "After two months of being on the show, we received video messages from our families, and my father quoted Lady Gaga in his video message," the Survivor Croatia star notes. "He wanted to motivate me, and send his support, and he knew exactly what to do."

Meet Plazibat family😂 #moreenergy #passion #family #fyp
The very online gays were introduced to Plazibat through his viral video of "Abracadabra," which was filmed after he had already won Survivor. The Croatian series — airing on Nova TV since 2022 — shared that video on its official Instagram page, which took Plazibat by surprise.
"That video was actually filmed before my final interview on the TV studio. We were waiting for the interview to start," he explains. "Me being me, I felt like the room needed some entertainment; a little bit of 'Abracadabra.'"
As far as Plazibat knew, he was just trying to entertain himself and the production crew while the equipment was set up for his final interview. Though he was mic'd and knew the cameras were on, he didn't realize that the footage of him singing and dancing "Abracadabra" before his final interview would ever be used.
"It was a surprise to me to when the channel decided to post that," he says, adding that he also didn't expect that the video would go so viral. "I was very surprised, but also very happy, that the Little Monster community picked up on it."

"Picked up on it" is an understatement: The video has gotten millions of views, and has reached way more people than just Little Monsters. The official Instagram page for Survivor Croatia first shared Plazibat's "Abracadabra" video on Saturday, May 24. Overall, the video has already reached 1.2 million views.
On Wednesday, May 28 — just four days later — Plazibat's video was re-shared on X/Twitter and got a new wave of very thirsty (and very queer!) responses.
"A contestant on Survivor sang Abracadabra," X/Twitter user @nichblink wrote along with the video, which can be seen below. This clip alone has reached 4.8 million views as of this writing — including 41,000 likes, 8,000 bookmarks, and 3,300 re-shares.
Popular responses to the viral X/Twitter video include:
"A big ass Chromatica tattoo." — @nichblink"The clap being precisely on beat is so satisfying." — @RandomSisco"Even the bulge was hyped af." — @volevonasceref"He can abracadabra his d*ck in my h*le." — @veterangagastan"Oh he has the choreo DOWN!! He even paused for the slayage at the end." — @MztrGaga"His bulge [face exhaling]." — @everardojnrr"I need him to abra my cadabra." — @cuutehoney"I see some magic I want to do a trick on." — @LosTexasDiablo

Plazibat has accumulated 17 million likes and 348,700 followers on TikTok (@lucianoplazibat), 117,000 followers on Instagram (@lucianoplazibat), and 5,000 followers on X/Twitter (@PlazibatLuciano) as of this writing.
Specifically, he's gained 9,500 followers on Instagram and 7,000 followers on TikTok since that viral "Abracadabra" video (via Social Blade).
When asked about the reception of the video, Plazibat reveals that quite a few gays have been sliding into his DMs. "But who doesn't enjoy a little bit of flirting in the DMs? Or, in this case, a lot of flirting in the DMs."
Wildest response to the video so far? "A certain adult movie actor re-posted my video on his story and wrote, 'Marry me.' And that's nice, right? Because usually it's the other way around."
And, if anyone's curious, Plazibat confirms during this Out interview that he is indeed gay and single.

Even when facing no-so-positive reactions to the viral video, Plazibat remains unbothered — and even friendly.
"I figured out why Luciano Plazibat is irritating to me, and the sad truth is because the guy is actually happy, and it radiates from him. I'm just jealous and projecting," X user @trjkvcnkl wrote on Friday, May 30.
Plazibat reacted to that X post, writing: "Hahahahaha, Nikola, let's grab some coffee."
So, what's next for the Survivor Croatia winner? "Right now I'm taking some time off for the summer," he says. "I have some offers and plans for future projects in the fall, but nothing confirmed yet."
"But, whatever I do, I'll see to it that it's always something creative and entertaining for me and for others. Everyone needs a little bit of 'Abracadabra' right now," Plazibat says.

Legendary 'Survivor' Player Reveals How 'Cult-Like' Upbringing Prepared Her for the Show
Legendary 'Survivor' Player Reveals How 'Cult-Like' Upbringing Prepared Her for the Show originally appeared on Parade. Parvati Shallow, 42, is perhaps one of the most prolific reality competition show contestants in history, having competed on Survivor five times (including an upcoming stint on Australian Survivor), Traitors, and Deal or No Deal Island. Now she's opening up about how the dark side of her childhood gave her the skills needed to excel in those environments. In her new memoir, Nice Girls Don't Win, Shallow explains that she grew up in a "cult-like" commune in Florida led by a controlling guru who led extensive meditations, took members' money, arranged marriages between them, doled out punishments, and even tried to adopt their newborn children. It was an environment Shallow described as "pure chaos," but it's also taught her skills that made her a reality competition maverick. "My early childhood set me up for success on Survivor," she told he told Us Weekly on June 20, 2025. Though Shallow was very young during her parents' involvement with the group, she interviewed them for her book and realized that it definitely left a lasting impact on her. 'It was just really interesting to hear my parents' stories and then overlay them on my adult life because I recreated so much of the same emotional themes that they had gone through without even knowing it,' she told Us. She realized that she was even using cult survival tactics in her reality TV endeavors without knowing it. "Fawning is one of the most widely used survival strategies, and it's just this sort of overt people-pleasing, overly complimentary kind of love bombing," she said. "One of our basic needs is love and belonging, so if we experience a lack of that in childhood, we develop a hunger for it." She's also taken inspiration from the cult-like leaders and gurus she's experienced themselves. 'My go-to strategy to win reality competition games is to make people fall in love with me," she admitted. "I am just naturally very enthusiastic and warm. I can also turn it on in context like competitions to win.' That said, it worked. And she doesn't feel bad about it. "One of the ways you get what you want is by being really warm and friendly. I wanted to articulate these survival strategies and share stories of me using them, to take away the judgment and destigmatize it," she said. "[But I'm also] a huge proponent of everyone going to therapy." Shallow's book is set to be released on July 8, 2025. Beloved 'Survivor' Host Cut From the Show After 10 Years in 'Epic Blindside'
Beloved 'Survivor' Host Cut From the Show After 10 Years in 'Epic Blindside' originally appeared on Parade. The network has spoken! The longtime host of Australian Survivor, Jonathan LaPaglia, stunned fans on Sunday, June 29, 2025, by revealing he had been fired from his hosting duties after a decade at the helm in what he called an "epic blindside." "Australian Survivor has seen some of the most epic blindsides over the last 10 years, but this one might just be the craziest of them all… because it happened to me," he wrote in the lengthy Instagram post, which also featured a video of him being punched by a massive boxing glove on set. "I received a call from the network thanking me for all my hard work and dedication to the show but for next season they are 'going in a different direction'." LaPaglia shared that Channel 10's reasons for letting him go included declining ratings and a desire to "do something drastic to shake things up." He threw in some classic Survivor jokes to his statement, saying "None of that non-elim bulls--t tonight! Someone IS going home. And with no idol in my back pocket, that someone is me." On a sentimental note, the longtime host called hosting the show the "greatest adventure of [his] career" and admitted he would "dearly miss the immensely talented crew, all the crafty players, and our loyal sassy audience." "I'm a huge fan of this incredible game, always have been, always will be," he concluded. "Ps. Whoever said a blindside is the most humane way to put someone down is an idiot. It hurts like a b--ch!)" #SurvivorAU" For their part, Channel 10 credited JLP with bringing the show "a unique blend of authority, intelligence, and empathy" and called him "a compelling and memorable figure in the world of Survivor." Both LaPaglia and Channel 10 confirmed he would still be the host for the upcoming Australia v The World installment, which will feature Survivor stars from across the planet, including Survivor legends Cirie Fields, Parvati Shallow, and Tony Vlachos, as well as former Australian Survivor winner David Genat, who also won season 2 of Deal or No Deal Island. Fans and players alike were shocked and outraged by the news of JLP's firing. "HUGE MISTAKE!!! It honestly won't be the same without you!!! This news breaks my heart!" wrote AU player Logan Johannisen in the comments. "Thank you for being the most incredible host ever -- you really made Survivor Australia what it is today. So no matter what they say, know that you are a huge part of the reason why it has been as successful as it has." "The change no one asked for," added fellow AU player Matt Tarrant. Survivor US legend Kelley Wentworth voiced her displeasure as well, writing, "No thanks." The replacement for the longtime host has yet to be announced. Jeff Bezos Said No to Lady Gaga's Wedding Performance Fee, Claims ‘Source'
and Lauren Sanchez's wedding reportedly didn't include Lady Gaga's performance due to the alleged whopping fee the singer demanded. The Amazon founder organized a billion-dollar three-day wedding celebration over the weekend. Around 200 guests, including A-list celebrities, attended the high-end nuptials in Venice, Italy. Many expected Lady Gaga to perform at the ceremony, but a source claimed that Bezos refused to pay millions to the artist. Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez's wedding has become the ceremony of the year as the billionaire took over Venice for the nuptials. A-list guests, such as Ivanka Trump, Orlando Bloom, and Kim Kardashian, attended the three-day celebration. Earlier, reports suggested that Lady Gaga and Elton John might perform for the attendees, but the groom reportedly said no to the artists. A source told Rob Shuter's ShuterScoop that Bezos' team approached the singers for the event. 'Each wanted $6 million for a single night. Jeff said, 'Absolutely not,'' the insider claimed. However, a guest claimed that some of them 'came for Gaga.' Instead of the 'Bad Romance' vocalist, the wedding guests grooved to DJ Cassidy's beats. Another attendee told the outlet that the record producer managed to create a 'luxe' vibe. 'But everyone was waiting for Gaga to emerge from a gondola or Elton to descend from the sky in Swarovski,' they added. Meanwhile, Bezos' celebration became the talk of the town last week. While the couple picked a romantic location to tie the knot, locals seemingly found it troublesome. Due to security reasons, the City of Canals came to a halt, disrupting the everyday lives of the locals. Protestors rallied with anti-Bezos signs, which reportedly led to a change in venue for the wedding. Despite the obstacles, Bezos and Sanchez walked down the aisle on June 27 in the presence of many A-list guests.
