Connor Syme wins first DP World Tour title with KLM Open
Syme finished 11 under, shooting a one-under-par 70 on Sunday and making only one bogey in his final 38 holes.
He said: 'Unbelievable, it was so, so difficult the last few days.
'I just felt so much better this week, I felt really ready to do it, and I'm so, so happy I managed to do it.'
Wife Alanis flew out to Amsterdam to surprise Syme on the final green, where he also enjoyed champagne-drenched celebrations with compatriot Ewen Ferguson – who had a hole in one earlier in the day to help him finish in a tie for fourth – and England's Richard Mansell.

'It's so, so nice they stuck around,' said Syme. 'I've obviously been really pleased for them and I'm really happy to have joined them and won myself, so just amazing. Amazing.'
Lagergren finished nine under, with South Africa's Jayden Schaper third on four under. Ferguson, fellow Scot Richie Ramsay and Englishman Jack Senior were a further shot back to share fourth.

While United aren't in for Isak themselves, their transfer battle with Newcastle over Benjamin Sesko could have a knock-on effect on the Swede. Liverpool's initial approach for Isak was knocked back by Newcastle, who want close to £150million for their leading man. They have bid roughly half that for Slovenia international Sesko - £69.5m plus up to £8m in add-ons - but dont have a clear run at the RB Leipzig star. According to The Telegraph, Liverpool have no plans to make a renewed bid for Isak as things stand. However, the same publication indicates things might change if the Magpies sign a new striker. Manchester United have a chance to throw a spanner in the works, then. If they are able to beat Eddie Howe's side to Sesko then, in all likelihood, Isak will be going nowhere. The latest developments come as United and Newcastle both brace for a decision from Sesko - with a deadline potentially coming as soon as Tuesday night. The striker is ready to trade the Bundesliga for the Premier League, but both clubs will feel they have a case. It has been a frustrating summer so far for Newcastle. Anthony Elanga their only senior outfield signing, joining in a £55m move from Nottingham Forest, while goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has joined from Southampton. They have missed out on other targets, though, with French striker Hugo Ekitike opting for Liverpool and Joao Pedro choosing Chelsea. It's not just forwards who have looked elsewhere, either, with centre-back Dean Huijsen moving to Real Madrid and goalkeeper James Trafford deciding to rejoin Manchester City. One man who could yet move to St James' Park is Yoane Wissa. Eddie Howe's side have so far failed to meet Brentford's asking price for the Congolese international, who has now returned to training in West London, but there is still time left in the window. "We're looking for the best players that we can get," Newcastle manager Howe said over the weekend. "Whatever our target position is, we're looking for the best so I see all situations open and available to us. I feel that's the only way that we're going to get to where we want to go, which is to maximise, and it's quality over quantity. "It always has been. That's always been the way that we try to work and the way that we try to recruit, and I think we've done it pretty well to this point. "It's been a challenging summer, because we've missed out on various targets for loads of different reasons, but we're still very competitive, and we're still in there trying to bring very good players to the club - and that won't change til the window shuts."

Man Utd make Harry Maguire transfer decision after five offers for defender
Manchester United have decided to reject approaches from five clubs for their defender Harry Maguire this summer, according to reports. Three teams in the Premier League and two from Italy have made offers to sign the England international centre-back ahead of the 2025-26 season. Maguire's current contract is due to expire next summer – and while talks have not yet taken place over an extension – United are keen to keep him. That's according to the Daily Mail, who also report that Maguire has no desire to leave Old Trafford and sees his long-term future at the club. Maguire turns 33 in March but wishes to spend the rest of his career with United and wants to emulate the likes of Denis Irwin and Steve Bruce. The Englishman has made 246 appearances for the Red Devils since joining the club in a £80m deal from Leicester City six years ago. Turkish side Galatasaray are known to be admirers of Maguire, who has also attracted interest from French duo Monaco and Marseille. It's also thought that Fenerbahce and Besiktas could offer escapes if Maguire changed his own mind. Maguire used to be United's skipper but was stripped of the captaincy by former head coach Erik ten Hag. He came close to joining West Ham two years ago but has enjoyed somewhat of a resurgence under current United boss Ruben Amorim. Maguire was recently put in a new six-man leadership group at Old Trafford by Amorim ahead of the upcoming campaign. 'We have a leadership group now,' Amorim said. 'It's not just Bruno, it's not just Harry, it's six guys now. 'They are responsible for the group. There are some things that in the last year I had to deal with that. 'I said to them in this year, you deal with that. Small issues are with you guys. 'You are responsible. All these small changes, I think it's helping the group. 'We have Bruno, we have Licha, we have Harry, we have Diogo, we have Tom and we have Nous. So it's not just the oldest ones. 'Nous is in the group because he's a character that I like. Manchester United matched Newcastle's £74m bid for RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko - and Rasmus Hojlund could head the other way in bad news for Alexander Isak and Liverpool Alexander Isak was in limbo on Tuesday night - with the wantaway Newcastle striker fearing that Benjamin Sesko could scupper his dream move to Liverpool. With Manchester United matching the Magpies' £74m bid for RB Leipzig hitman Sesko, the Slovenian now has to decide which club he will join But if he chooses United ahead of Newcastle, then Isak could find himself in no-man's land with the new season just 10 days away. And that scenario is looking increasingly likely with the Bundesliga side keen on taking United misfit Rasmus Hojlund in the deal. Toon officials have made it clear to the Swede that they will only sell him if Liverpool match their valuation AND they have a replacement lined up. Liverpool have so far lodged an initial bid of £110m plus add-ons, well short of the Toon's valuation. And they won't be back in until Newcastle have brought in a replacement for their prize asset. For their part, Newcastle want the situation resolved as quickly as possible. They had hoped that United's delay in bidding for Sesko would leave them firmly in the driving seat but now both clubs had made similar offers to Leipzig leaving the final decision firmly in Sesko's court. The player trained indoors away from his team-mates, with his departure imminent. Various sources in Germany claim he favours a move to Old Trafford despite a lack of European football next season. Newcastle, however, won't give up knowing they can't fail to land yet another of their top transfer targets having already missed out on Bryan Mbeumo, Liam Delap, Joao Pedro, Hugo Ekitike and Dean Huijsen. And while no-one inside the club will admit it, they would rather have Sesko leading their attack than a disgruntled Isak, who would rather be wearing the red shirt of Liverpool. The Magpies remain confident of signing forward Yoane Wissa despite their two offers so far falling well short of the price tag Brentford have slapped on him. And they have stepped up their bid to land AC Milan's 23-year-old centre half Malick Thiaw.
