NSUI activists clash with police on DAVV campus

Time of India5 days ago
Indore: Eleven National Students Union of India (NSUI) activists were arrested and released on bail on Wednesday after a protest led by them on Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) campus turned chaotic.
NSUI had launched the protest as part of its planned agitation, raising concerns ranging from poor evaluation practices to a host of unresolved student-related issues. The protest began around 1pm on DAVV's administrative campus at RNT Marg, where over 150 NSUI activists were stopped at barricaded main entrance. As the activists tried to breach the barricades and force their way on the university's premises, a scuffle broke out with police.
The police said that barricades were placed as a precaution. Protesters were expected to maintain distance, but they began pushing forward and climbing on them. "To maintain law and order, the crowd was dispersed, and 11 people were arrested under Section 170 of BNS. All were later released on bail," ACP Tushar Singh told TOI. The protest caused significant traffic disruption on the main road outside the administrative campus.

NSUI district president Rajat Singh Patel, while speaking from the police van said, "DAVV is trying to suppress our voices and cover up corruption. The way the administration has treated us is nothing short of dictatorship. We are being treated like criminals or terrorists. But we will not back down — we will continue our fight."
DAVV officials stated that NSUI had not given any official intimation about the protest. "We came to know about the protest through social media. The university was not informed in advance and we are not even aware of their specific demands," said DAVV registrar Prajwal Khare.

'Not hitting Pakistani military was historic mistake': Deepender Hooda says in Lok Sabha; criticises government lapse

Congress leader Deepender Hooda NEW DELHI: Congress leader Deepender Hooda on Monday said the government had made a historic mistake by targeting only terror infrastructure and not striking the Pakistani military, asserting that there is no difference between Pakistan's forces, government, and terrorists. During a debate on Operation Sindoor in Lok Sabha, the Haryana MP said not hitting the Pakistani military was "in a way a clean chit" to Islamabad. "The biggest strategic mistake during Operation Sindoor was when the foreign minister said that we were not targeting military or civilian infrastructure," Deepender Hooda said in the Lok Sabha. "By making that statement, the government effectively gave a clean chit to the Pakistani army and government," he said. Hooda further said: "You have repeatedly said, and even the world acknowledges, that there is no difference between Pakistan's government, its military, and the terrorists. They are one and the same. Yet, by declaring that only terror infrastructure was being targeted, you ended up sending a different message to the world. That was a historic mistake." As Parliament continued its debate on Operation Sindoor on Monday, the government's cross-border counter-terror strike after the Pahalgam terror attack , Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi sharply criticised defence minister Rajnath Singh's speech, accusing the government of dodging basic questions about the April 22 incident. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Paras Sector 59 Gurgaon | Luxury Awaits at Paras Floret Paras The Florett Book Now While the government laid out the details of what India achieved by the Operation Sindoor, the opposition kept attacking the Centre over internal security lapses that led to the terror attack in Pahalgam's Baisaran meadow and Trump's repeated ceasefire claims.

'Mysterious disappearance' of young US inventor: Who is 21-year-old Julian Brown? What did he discover?

A young US inventor reportedly gone missing, his fans claimed, after he converted plastic into usable gas. A 21-year-old Chicago inventor was reportedly missing since early July, though there has been no official confirmation of his missing. But social media users raised alarm that Julian Brown who invented fuel from plastic and had his DIY gas station, had not appeared on his social media accounts for the past two weeks. And his last message was ominous -- that he was in some trouble. What did Julian Brown invent? According to reports, the Black young inventor discovered Plastoline, a solar-powered reactor which is capable of turning everyday plastic into clean-burning fuel. Social media users expressed dismay that he might have been killed in an example of another Black scientist being silenced but there is no report of any such thing. It is also possible that he has withdrawn from social media to concentrate on his work. What is Plastoline? Julian Brown was nicknamed as the backyard scientist in Alabama. On social media, Brown goes by the name NatureJab and his company's name of Jab's Pyrolysis & Energy Recovery. In his backyard, he had half a dozen or more sonal panels. His invention is plastic pyrolysis which creates a lot of carbon emissions but less than recycling plastic, he said. In 2024, he suffered second-degree burns during his experiments in which an explosion took place. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Niles: Pro-Level Welding Goggles Darkening Welding Goggles Shop Now Undo Why social media users think Julian Brown is dead It is a conspiracy theory based on his last social media post in which he said some very, very odd stuff was happening to him. 'Something is happening keep me in your prayers please SCREEN RECORD THIS. I don't know," he said. Brown had a GoFundMe page to fund his invention and it raised more than $18,000. 'I have dedicated the last 5 years of my life, starting in high school to this journey. I begun this journey because I saw a huge lack in the industry of all things recycling. We are told recycling is occurring, yet any observance to our natural world would show otherwise," Julian said in March. 'When I was five years old, I told my mom that I was gonna create something that would change the world,' he recalled. 'It's always been within me — I just never knew what it was gonna be," he said in that interview.
