Sohail secures Gold at Asian Junior Squash Championship
Displaying remarkable skill and determination, Sohail defeated India's Ayaan Dhanuka in a thrilling four-game final with scores of 11-5, 11-2, 11-13, 11-6. His victory marks another major milestone in what has already been an exceptional year for the young champion.
Earlier this year, Sohail made headlines by winning the British Junior Open 2025 (U-13), ending Pakistan's 18-year title drought at that event. His latest triumph in South Korea further cements his place among Asia's top junior squash players.

Cricketers gear up for PCB's domestic cricket season 2025-26
LAHORE: The Domestic cricket season 2025-26 is set to begin with the 12-team Hanif Mohammad Trophy in August and it will be followed by the eight-team Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. The 16 regional teams taking part in both the tournaments are set to conduct fitness tests for their preliminary squads a week before the beginning of the tournament. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has devised a rigorous fitness testing criterion with two different levels, one for the pathways' players and the other for those set to take part in premier domestic events representing regions or departments throughout the season. The fitness testing first took place for the PCB Challenge Cup and the Senior Inter-District tournaments under the watch of PCB's strength and conditioning coaches across the 107 districts. In the next step around, 400 players vying to secure spots in their respective regional sides for the upcoming domestic season will be tested at their regional headquarters in August. The Under-19 players are also set to take part in the Regional Under-19 One-Day Cup and will undergo fitness testing before the tournament kicks off. The regional first-class players will go through a number of dynamic tests to establish their fitness for competitive domestic cricket and also bringing their names in contention for the domestic contracts for the coming season. The fitness reports will not only be evaluated by the regional coaches but will also be used by the PCB to address fitness challenges faced by the players. In another first, the PCB will also conduct the fitness tests of cricketers contracted by departments in Grade I, II and III. Before this, the departments used to carry their own fitness testing but with the strength and conditioning being top most priority the PCB has decided to collaborate with all the departments as well. The pre-season testing has also been refined and set up in such a way that fully fit players get the opportunities to take the field in domestic cricket enhancing the quality of the competition and skills. Ahtisham and Romaisa crowned champions

PHOTO COURTESY: STA Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited's (SNGPL) Ahtisham Humiyon clinched the U18 title at the inaugural Sohail University National Tennis Championship which concluded at DA Creek Club, Karachi. He defeated fellow departmental player Hassan Usmani 6-2,6-2 to claim the win. Meanwhile, Romaisa Malik from Punoo Aqil became the U18 girls champion with a win over Bismal Zia 6-4,6-3 in the final of the event. Romaisa and Bismal also played the girls U14 singles final and Romaisa claimed the U14 title as well. In an exciting final of the U14 boys singles event, Peshawar's Junaid Khan outplayed Lahore's Shahbaz 4-9,1-4,4-2. In an all-Lahore girls' U12 final, Eman Shahbaz defeated Shahnoor Umer 2-4,5-4,4-2. Inaya Sayyed was crowned the women's singles champion as she outclassed Eschelle Asif 8-3 in the final. Ahtesham also won the men's singles event, he won against Lahore's Asad Zaman 8-4. Vice Chancellor Sohail University Syed Adnan Sohail was the chief guest at the closing ceremony. He distributed the prizes worth Rs 150000, tennis balls and trophies among the winners and runners up of various events. Sohail appreciated the efforts of Sindh Tennis Association and offered full scholarship for Tennis players with good standing at Sohail University. Ahmed Ali Rajpoot, Khalid Jameel Shamsi and Muhammad Khalid Rehmani also spoke at the closing ceremony. 230 plus entries were received for this week long championship including 20 male and female out station players from Peshawar, Islamabad, Lahore, Punoon Aqil and Hyderabad. Rizwan to lead Pakistan in three ODIs against West Indies
LAHORE: Wicket-keeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan will lead Pakistan in the three-match ODI series against West Indies, as the Men's National Selection Committee named a 16-member ODI squad on Friday. The series will be played at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad & Tobago on August 8, 10 and 12. Right-handed batter Hasan Nawaz is the only uncapped player in the ODI squad, while Babar Azam and Shaheen Shah Afridi are part of the ODI squad. Pakistan will also play three T20Is against the West Indies, scheduled on 31st July, 2nd and 3rd August, at the Central Broward Park & Broward County Stadium in Lauderhill, USA. Salman Ali Agha will captain the T20I side, while fast bowlers Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali and Shaheen Shah Afridi return to the squad in this format. Following the conclusion of the three-match T20I series in Bangladesh, Pakistan will arrive in the USA on Sunday, 27th July, a PCB spokesman said.
