Influencer Karissa Collins Apologizes for Video of Her 11 Kids Hitting Her Stomach Amid Miscarriage

Yahoo4 days ago
Parenting influencer Karissa Collins has responded after a video showing several of her 11 children hitting her belly in the midst of a miscarriage sparked backlash.
'I apologize. When I posted that video, what was on other people's minds was not on my mind at all,' Collins, 41, said in a Thursday, July 17, TikTok video. 'I never thought of it that way. It was a cute moment with me and my children. I didn't think anyone would even watch it.'
Karissa announced in a since-deleted video earlier in July that she and her husband, Mandrae Collins, were expecting their 12th baby. Days later, she revealed that she had suffered a missed miscarriage and wanted to let the fetal tissue pass naturally without medical intervention. At the same time, Karissa uploaded a TikTok clip of some of her younger children playfully smacking her belly. (All of the posts mentioning Karissa's pregnancy announcement and miscarriage have since been deleted.)
'I don't do clickbait. I don't like controversy,' Karissa said on Thursday, addressing the backlash to her belly video. 'I don't post offensive things for followers. I don't want followers like that. I'm not all about a following. I am just about sharing the message that God has given me, and the ministry that I have, which is that you can trust God with your womb. … We encourage women to trust God with how many children he wants to give.'

The online creator also offered context behind the now-viral video, claiming that her kids were 'having fun' and showing off their own stomachs after a family meal.
'I said, 'Y'all want to see a big belly, let me show you my belly.' I have a big belly. I have extra chunk from being pregnant 15 times that I am currently trying to work off,' she explained. 'I shared the video because my kids saw my stomach, and they just started laughing. They were squeezing it like slime and Squishmallows. It was the funniest thing. I never wanted to forget that moment of them finding so much joy in my belly.'
According to Karissa, her 4-year-old daughter did end up hitting her belly 'a little too hard.'

'I did say 'ow' in the video, but they were not hurting me,' she stressed. 'They were not hurting anything inside of me.'
Elsewhere in her apology video, Karissa clapped back at online criticism of her big family in general.

'If you haven't had 11 children, I don't feel like you have the right to say it's impossible or that you can't do it,' she said. 'I used to say that when I had five children. … I had no idea that God had planned for a big family for us. We simply believe that we are to live life of faith, and that children are eternal [and that] they have value. Lots of value.'
Karissa further noted that she doesn't understand how certain social media users can 'degrade other families' by sharing online criticism.
'That's called clickbait, and it is what it is,' she said. 'I will not call out on my platform. My platform is just to share the messages that the Lord gives me and to share the blessings that he has given us, and to show other women that it is possible to trust God and to be joyful and enjoy motherhood.'

CC Sabathia's car breaks down on way to Cooperstown for Baseball Hall of Fame induction

CC Sabathia's 19-year Major League ride toward baseball's Hall of Fame appears to have been a smoother one than the actual drive he made to Cooperstown for this weekend's induction. Heading to Cooperstown with his family for Sunday's festivities, Sabathia's car apparently broke down on the side of the highway, leaving the New York Yankees great and his family temporarily stranded. Sabathia posted a photo (with laughing emojis) on X, formerly Twitter, of himself, his wife Amber and their children on July 24 at 8:22 p.m. Sabathia posted the words: 'Car broke down on the way to Cooperstown. Anyone headed that way?' The road sign in the photo showed Route 17 West in upstate New York. Sabathia later posted at 11:02 p.m. that he and his family made it to Cooperstown: And on Friday, July 25 at 10:47 a.m., Sabathia posted a photo of the Cooperstown grounds where he will be speaking Sunday: This article originally appeared on CC Sabathia car breaks down on way to Cooperstown for Hall of Fame induction

Billionaire film mogul David Geffen sued by estranged husband Donovan Michaels

David Geffen is being sued by his estranged husband. The 82-year-old film producer is accused of treating Donovan Michaels, 32, like a "living social experiment" during the couple's two-year marriage in a lawsuit filed in the Los Angeles Superior Court. Michaels has accused Geffen of breach of contract and alleges that the record executive kicked him out of their New York while he attended Amazon tycoon Jeff Bezos's wedding to Lauren Sanchez in Venice last month and went back on a promise to give him lifelong financial support. The lawsuit alleges that Geffen – who has an estimated net worth of $8.8 billion – used a "toxic mix of seduction, control, promises of love and lavish displays of wealth to entrap" Michaels in a loop of "dependency, submission and humiliation". Patty Glaser, a partner at the law firm representing the film mogul, said: "There was no contract – express, written, oral or implied – that has ever existed. We will be vigorously and righteously defending against this false, pathetic lawsuit." The complaint says that Geffen met Michaels on the dating site in 2016 and paid him $10,000 for sex. The couple married in a private Beverly Hills ceremony in 2023 and the complaint claims that Geffen did not seek a prenuptial agreement. The DreamWorks co-founder filed for divorce in May, citing irreconcilable differences, and the pair had kept details of their separation private until Michaels filed his lawsuit. The dancer – whose real name is David Armstrong – described himself in the lawsuit as a vulnerable young gay black man who had been exploited by a "wealthy, powerful white gay billionaire who believed himself untouchable". Geffen is alleged to have criticised "every aspect of Michaels's appearance" and body hygiene that required him to get "painful" laser and dental treatments. Michaels claims that he was frequently subjected to "back-handed insults and put-downs" about his "past and lack of sophistication". He likened the pair's relationship to the plot of the movie Trading Places and alleges that Geffen treated him like "a living social experiment – a trophy to show off to his wealthy friends, under the guise of benevolence". The lawsuit states: "Geffen told Michaels he loved him, and the two agreed to treat each other as life partners, share all assets equally and that Geffen would support Michaels financially for life. "Michaels gave up his dreams – his modelling career, his independence – to dedicate himself fully to this promise." The suit also alleges that Geffen ordered Michaels to "immediately vacate" the couple's New York home as he partied aboard his $400 million Rising Sun superyacht in the lead-up to the Bezos wedding. It states that Michaels was left homeless as Geffen was "decadently and extravagantly partying and dancing the night away in Venice, Italy with the other 0.0001 per cent of the wealthiest people on the planet". The complaint says: "While Geffen holds himself out to the public as an extraordinarily charitable man whose foundation gives millions and millions of dollars to advocacy and support groups for the homeless and disadvantaged populations, he is simultaneously endeavouring to render Michaels impoverished and homeless."

Bride-to-Be Drops Bridesmaid from Wedding Party After She Says She Wants to Dye Her Hair Pink to Match Her Dress

"I just dropped her ... I'm glad it's a closed chapter," a Reddit user wrote after saying she'd been "considering" asking her friend to step down before the hair suggestion A bride-to-be was not impressed when one of her bridesmaids said she was going to dye her hair pink to match her dress to be "hilarious." In a recent post on Reddit's "Bridezillas" forum, a woman explained how she was considering dropping the friend in question from her wedding party after she'd said she wanted to switch up her look ahead of the bride's special day. "One of my bridesmaids (who I'm already considering asking to step down) has just told me she's temporarily dying her hair pink 'to match the dress!'" the poster initially wrote. "And I'm about to lose it." She added that her friend had "been kind of on a spiral of 'branching out,'" stating that this was "the latest new thing" she was "apparently set on." The Reddit user continued, "To be clear, she's never done an unnatural color (nothing more than blonder or brown or occasionally a red) and this is all very sudden." She insisted she wouldn't normally ask somebody to change the way they looked for her nuptials, but said that this was different. "I typically wouldn't tell someone to change their appearance for my wedding because it's so so so rude but I feel like this is a step past the norm and I'm at a loss," the poster said, adding, "I feel like this is the latest 'pick me' moment in a long string of them." She questioned whether she would be the "bridezilla" for asking her friend not to dye her hair "an unnatural color for the wedding, knowing that this is something she's never once done before?" The woman later edited the post to insist that she wasn't asking her "to change her current style," just "the grand plan she had for her wedding hair that's explicitly FOR the wedding, to be 'hilarious.'" She eventually wrote that she'd bit the bullet and dropped her friend from the wedding party, writing, "I just dropped her. She lost her s---. I'm glad it's a closed chapter." In the comments section, the post got mixed reactions. After the poster responded to one of the reactions with grabs of the text exchange, a commenter insisted, "This type of conversation is NOT for a text message. It's too late but if you do care about her, asking her out for coffee to talk through this might be a better way. It's so easy to misunderstand intent, get angry over text, and escalate. That's what happened here." Never miss a story — sign up for to stay up-to-date on the best of what PEOPLE has to offer, from celebrity news to compelling human interest stories. Another person had previously suggested, "If you're considering asking her to step down just [do] it. You'll be happier. The pink hair it seems will become something else and that becomes something else and you're clearly over [it]. I don't blame you. I'd be over it [too] from the sound of it." "The key point is that she is dyeing her hair FOR the wedding (to match the dress), which gives you the opening to say 'I appreciate the thought but honestly I'd rather you don't,'" a different commenter had pointed out, while one insisted, "You did the right thing. Dyeing your hair FOR the wedding is very different from having dyed hair already." Read the original article on People Solve the daily Crossword
