These promotions are clearly doing the trick, as fans are almost always able to guess the mystery collaborators based on nothing more than a silhouette. And now, it seems one singer could be making her way to Malaysia very soon. Who is she? Let's find out.
Over the weekend, oral hygiene brand Colgate Malaysia posted a video on social media teasing a future collaboration with a K-pop icon. The clip featured a female singer dressed in purple, posing for the cameras with her face obscured, revealing only her smile. 'The queen of K-pop is about to spill her secret beauty hack for a radiant smile 😁✨ Any guesses? Coming your way soon. Stay tuned!' the brand wrote in the captions.
If the smile wasn't already a clear giveaway, the hint 'Queen of K-pop' certainly is, as there's only one person known by that title. As expected, fans flocked to the comments section to share their guesses, but the majority had one name in mind: none other than IU (아이유). Not only is she celebrated as a gifted singer-songwriter, but she's also an accomplished actress, having recently won Best Actress at the Blue Dragon Series Awards and Baeksang Arts Awards for her role in 'When Life Gives You Tangerines'.
While Colgate Malaysia's teaser is certainly exciting, there has been no confirmation or indication, at the time of writing, that IU will be making a special appearance in Malaysia. Still, that hasn't stopped fans from urging the brand to invite the icon back to Malaysia for an event.
The last time IU was here, she performed at Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil back in 2024 and even handed out snacks to fans upon her arrival at KLIA. We personally would love to see IU again, but for now, we'll have to wait for the official announcements for more details about this collaboration.

The girl group will also go on a domestic tour across the United States and perform a solo concert in Korea. The agency also thanked PLORYs (PURPLE KISS fans) for their continued support for the group. Following the disbandment announcement, all six members of PURPLE KISS – Go-Eun (고은), Dosie (도시), Ireh (이레), Yuki (유키), Chaein (채인) and Swan (수안) – share handwritten letters for their fans. In their letters, the idols expressed gratitude towards PLORYs for their love and support throughout the years. They also asked fans to continue supporting them in the coming days as they prepare to conclude their group activities. Fans and netizens have reacted to the news, mostly expressing regret over the disbandment. Some also criticised RBW for not promoting the group better, noting that the agency wasted valuable talent. Some fans are urging the members to debut as a new group under a new management. Meanwhile, PLORYs all over the world have started extending love to the members, saying they'll continue to support them after they disband. While the news may be sudden, it's commendable that PURPLE KISS announced their disbandment in advance, as it allows fans to enjoy their remaining time with the group to the fullest. The school jungle: Where empathy goes to die In school, you would think children are learning algebra, sejarah and how to dodge flying erasers. But nowadays, some are also majoring in advanced psychological torture. You have 12-year-olds plotting emotional takedowns better than telenovela villains. Poor Alia just wants to eat her sandwich in peace but noooo – here comes some pint-sized dictator asking her: 'Eh, why you so fat-ah? Later the chair patah!' Bullies don't need power; they need therapy You know what is wild? Most bullies are just emotionally constipated people with too much time and too little soul-searching. Chinese actress Zhao Lusi accuses agency of wage theft, threats

Photo: Zhao Lusi/Instagram Popular Chinese actress Zhao Lusi has engaged in a war of words with her management agency Galaxy Cool Entertainment on Chinese social media platform Weibo. The 26-year-old, who shot to fame with period dramas such as The Romance Of Tiger And Rose (2020) and Love Like The Galaxy (2022), accused Galaxy Cool Entertainment of an unauthorised withdrawal of 2.05 million yuan (RM1.2mil) from her personal studio's account. She alleged the agency left her to shoulder financial burdens alone despite agreeing to take responsibility for cancelled endorsements, during the period in 2024 when she was seeking treatment for several health issues and depression. The 1.61m-tall actress' physical and mental condition took a toll due to overwork and, once, she weighed just 36kg. Photos of her in a wheelchair were also circulated on social media in December 2024. Zhao lost her ability to speak at one point. She also suffered from frequent episodes of nausea and dizziness, and joint pains. Her lengthy posts in Chinese also alleged disputes over control and unsuccessful termination negotiations. She claimed she was warned against speaking out, with threats that she could be blacklisted from the entertainment industry if she pursued legal action. 'You don't need to blacklist me, I quit,' Zhao wrote, urging her followers to report to the police should they face similar situations. Galaxy Cool Entertainment issued its response on Weibo on Aug 3, expressing its 'shock' at Zhao's accusations. The agency denied any illegal or contractual breach, and emphasised it is prioritising Zhao's 'wishes and well-being' following her illness. It also urged the actress to avoid posting ambiguous content online that could lead to public misunderstanding.
