Caitlin Clark soccer video adds to injury confusion among Fever fans
This tale of the tape has Caitlin Clark fans confused. The star Fever guard — who has not suited up since July 15 when she sustained a groin injury versus the Sun — raised the eyebrows of some social media users when she was seen kicking a soccer ball around in footage from a recent visit to McCombs Middle School in Des Moines, where she opened a new basketball court with the Caitlin Clark Foundation. 'Did she forget she has a groin injury?' one X user remarked Tuesday. 3 Caitlin Clark is seen kicking a soccer ball in a July 2025 X video. @clrkszn/X 'If she can do that hip motion, she needs to be playing basketball,' another stated. One fan urged Clark, 23, 'to rest and get healed!' Clark, the reigning WNBA Rookie of the Year, has been sidelined numerous times throughout her sophomore campaign. She missed time early in the 2025 season due to a left quadriceps strain and suffered a groin injury in late June. Clark returned to action in early July, only to be sidelined again later in the month after re-injuring her groin, missing the WNBA All-Star festivities. 3 Caitlin Clark has been sidelined throughout her sophomore WNBA campaign. Getty Images ESPN's Holly Rowe reported Sunday that Clark 'did see a specialist last week and no additional injury was found in that exam and scans,' with the Fever poised to 'be even more cautious in their approach to her return to play this time.' 'Last time when she came back from injury, she didn't get any practice time [or] any time to ramp up her conditioning. This time, they're going to make sure she has time and practices to get rhythm and time with her teammates,' Rowe said. 3 Caitlin Clark looks on during a Fever game on July 27, 2025. AP 'As you look at their schedule, the third week in August provides a few more practice days where that seems like it's realistic. While she does remain day to day, that seems like a better timetable for a possible Caitlin Clark return.' The Fever, winners of this year's Commissioner's Cup, are currently 14-12 and in sixth placce in the WNBA. Through 13 games this season, Clark is averaging 16.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 8.8 assists. She appeared in 40 of the Fever's games last season and averaged 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds and 8.4 assists. The Fever host the Mercury (16-9) on Wednesday.
