Hewlett Packard Enterprise (NYSE: HPE) has launched eight new HPE ProLiant Compute Gen12 servers, designed to provide enhanced security, optimize performance for complex workloads, and boost productivity with AI-driven management features. These servers, which will feature the upcoming Intel Xeon 6 processors, are built for data center and edge environments, introducing industry-first security capabilities that meet the needs of modern enterprises.
Krista Satterthwaite, Senior VP and General Manager of Compute at HPE, highlighted the increasing demand for high-performance servers to support data-intensive workloads across industries like finance, healthcare, and more. The new HPE ProLiant Compute Gen12 servers are tailored to deliver powerful performance and advanced management insights while helping businesses meet sustainability goals and manage costs.
The new servers come with HPE Integrated Lights Out (iLO) 7, which introduces an enhanced security processor known as secure enclave, designed to safeguard against evolving threats. The secure enclave offers quantum computing-resistant readiness and meets the FIPS 140-3 Level 3 cryptographic security standard. These built-in security features protect against firmware attacks and provide full visibility from the factory through HPE's trusted supply chain, ensuring comprehensive protection throughout the product lifecycle.
AI-driven insights offered by HPE Compute Ops Management help automate server environments and improve operations by enhancing energy efficiency. The cloud-based software platform forecasts power usage, allowing organizations to set thresholds that control costs and carbon emissions. By offering map-based visibility and third-party tool integration, HPE can help reduce downtime by up to 4.8 hours annually, improving overall server performance.
The HPE ProLiant Compute Gen12 servers are optimized for AI, data analytics, edge computing, and hybrid cloud applications. With up to 41% better performance per watt compared to legacy systems, these servers deliver up to 65% in annual power savings. One Gen12 server can provide the same compute performance as seven Gen10 servers, offering significant energy and cost efficiency for data center operations.
For organizations looking to further optimize data center cooling, HPE offers optional direct liquid cooling (DLC) on Intel-based HPE ProLiant Compute Gen12 servers. DLC removes heat more efficiently than traditional air cooling, enabling better thermal management and reducing energy consumption. HPE's expertise in liquid cooling technology, backed by over 300 patents and five decades of experience, positions the company as a leader in thermal management solutions.
The first six new HPE ProLiant Compute Gen12 servers, featuring Intel Xeon 6 processors, will be available in Q1 2025, with the DL320, DL340, DL360, DL380, DL380a, and ML350 Gen12 servers available for purchase. The HPE Synergy 480 and DL580 Gen12 servers are expected to launch in Summer 2025. These servers are available as standalone products or through HPE GreenLake, offering scalable, cost-effective IT solutions. Customers can purchase through authorized channel partners, with HPE Services providing advisory, professional, and asset management support to help organizations optimize their IT infrastructure.

The study gathered input from over 135 organisations across APAC to identify common challenges businesses face in integrating skills into workforce decision-making, strategies, and whether organisations are beginning to prioritise skills over experience. 'Organisations must prioritise skills development and leverage people analytics to improve HR and business outcomes. Almost 40 percent of organisations are at the critical stage of developing talent strategies and programs tailored around new and future skills. Furthermore, 68 percent of organisations have an articulated skills framework as the foundation for such practices. Overall, 44 percent of organisations are exploring technology tools, assessment platforms and external benchmarks for skills identification, but over half (56 percent) still depend on traditional methods such as job descriptions and manager surveys. Top skills influencing talent practices include career development and mobility, learning and development, recruitment and selection, succession planning and workforce planning. The study also found organisations are using skills information for employee career development, with nearly 40 percent of respondents already aligning skills with lateral role opportunities for colleagues. This strategy enhances employee experience and data shows it boosts candidate success rates. The survey expects within the next 12 – 24 months, around 45 percent of organisations will adopt the practice of aligning skills with lateral opportunities for colleagues. However, the survey respondents have identified barriers in advancing the skills agenda in their organisations. Maggie You, head of people advisory for APAC at Aon, said, 'The top challenges for progressing with skills initiatives include limited budget and resources, measuring program effectiveness, and identifying relevant skills. To overcome these barriers, organisations must take small steps by starting with pilot programs, using objective assessments and clear KPIs, engaging business stakeholders, and aligning skills frameworks with job architecture and external benchmarks.' The company revealed it is now the first Internet infrastructure provider to block AI crawlers by default. This move aims to stop AI companies from accessing web content without permission or compensation. Starting immediately, website owners can choose whether AI crawlers can access their content and how it can be used. AI companies must now clearly state if their crawlers are used for training, inference, or search. This transparency helps content creators make informed decisions. Cloudflare reported that this new setting marks a step toward a more sustainable future for both creators and AI innovators. For years, search engines directed users to original websites, generating traffic and ad revenue. That model is now disrupted. AI crawlers collect content like text and images but often provide no referral traffic. This change, Cloudflare warned, risks removing incentives to produce high-quality content. Matthew Prince, co-founder and CEO of Cloudflare, stated, 'If the Internet is going to survive the age of AI, we need to give publishers control and build a new economic model.' He emphasized that original content powers the Internet and must be protected. Prince added, 'Our goal is to put the power back in the hands of creators, while still helping AI companies innovate.' Several publishing and tech leaders voiced strong support for Cloudflare's move: Roger Lynch, CEO of Condé Nast, called it a 'game-changer' for publishers. Neil Vogel, CEO of Dotdash Meredith, said AI platforms must fairly compensate creators. Renn Turiano of Gannett Media praised the technology for combating unauthorized scraping. Pinterest CEO Bill Ready said the update helps ensure content is used as intended. Reddit's CEO Steve Huffman agreed, stating that crawling should be more transparent and controlled. Vivek Shah, CEO of Ziff Davis, applauded the step as a boost for a sustainable digital ecosystem. Cloudflare revealed it manages 20% of global web traffic and handles trillions of requests daily. In September 2024, the company introduced an option to block AI crawlers with one click. Over one million customers enabled this option. Now, Cloudflare is enforcing a permission-based model. New domains must choose whether to allow AI crawlers during setup. This removes the need to manually opt out later. Cloudflare also announced new protocols to help AI bots authenticate themselves. These protocols will make it easier for website owners to identify AI crawlers and control access. The company reported support from global publishers and media organizations including TIME, Condé Nast, Gannett Media, Reddit, and Pinterest. Cloudflare stated this is about protecting intellectual property while still enabling innovation. The update supports a fairer Internet where content creators retain control and receive proper recognition.
