EASTENDERS actress Heather Peace has revealed why she decided to continue filming for her dramatic wedding scenes just hours after her cancer diagnosis.
The 50-year-old, who plays Eve Unwin on the BBC One soap, was diagnosed with breast cancer in October last year but despite her health issues, she bravely continued to film for the soap.

Her character was embroiled in dramatic scenes which included her wedding to Suki Panesar as well as being poisoned by Suki's ex-husband Nish Panesar.
Revealing why she decided to continue working, she told Gaby Roslin on her podcast that she wanted to film the important scenes because she feared she would die.
The former Waterloo Road star expressed: 'We got back to Brighton at 7 o'clock, and I was on the road at 10 past five that morning, to Elstree, to start possibly the two biggest weeks that I've done on EastEnders.'
Heather explained that she had told bosses about her diagnosis and was told she didn't need to come in while she was taking in the life-changing news as well as undergoing treatment.
'I said 'I need to come in' because at this point I don't know what's going to happen,' she continued.
'And I want to finish this arc of the story. Not coming in for the next two weeks is not going to change anything, but at least let me put the full stop on a story that's been playing out for nearly two and a half years.
'If we get to the end of that and we see them get married and we see them successful, if beyond that it's a mess, I can leave and feel like I've put a full stop on something."
The soap star went on to have chemotherapy as well as undergoing a left breast mastectomy and a reconstruction.
Just as she's about to begin radiotherapy, Heather revealed the heartbreaking news last week that her wife Ellie has also been diagnosed with the disease.
She told the Mirror: 'Her breast cancer was a smaller, aggressive lump, so she had a lumpectomy and then radiotherapy.

"Of course then I come along with my 12 cm lump, absolutely ginormous, and mastectomy, chemotherapy, just about to go into radiotherapy.
"She's like 'Even that you have to do bigger.' It's like 'Hold my beer.'"
Last month Heather shared a video on Instagram of her at a wig fitting and captioned it with a heartfelt message.
She divulged: 'This video is an important part of my recent journey, which I wanted to share with you.

'It's been about the #TeamEffort here @bbceastenders.
"I needed a wig fitting. I've been on quite a road for many months now.
"I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the beginning of October.
"Since then I've undergone surgery and recovery over the Christmas period and today my chemotherapy journey ended.
"I woke up this morning and it was like the end of the London Marathon; I'd turned onto The Mall and could see the giant clock & the finish line.
"To conclude - I've just picked up my medal."
She also took the opportunity to thank the EastEnders team for 'going above and beyond' and 'felt totally supported' by them.
Heather concluded her post on a positive note as she said: 'I will continue to cherish and be grateful for all I am blessed with. I feel very lucky. With love, Heather xxx"
Her co-star, Kellie Bright, who plays Linda Carter on the show, was quick to comment on the post and sent warm wishes to her pal.
She gushed: 'I've said it before and I'll say it again…. WARRIOR WOMAN!!!! Love the bones of you."
Heather joined the long-running soap back in 2021 as Stacey Slater's prison pal-turned-wife and has been involved in a number of huge storylines over the past four years.
Her character Eve was involved in an affair with Suki before being left for dead by Ravi Gulati and nearly killed on her wedding day on New Year's Day.

AFL WAG Kellie Finlayson shares hack for people suffering cancer that cannot get insurance - as she continues to battle the illness

Kellie Finlayson has shared a useful hack for people facing drastic health issues. The AFL WAG, 29, said cancer sufferers should get insurance for 'everything' since no provider will sign a client with an existing health issue. Kellie, who has won admiration from followers for her upbeat outlook while facing a terminal diagnosis for bowel cancer, included a photo of herself in the post smiling hopefully. The mother-of-one made her comments during an Instagram question and answer in which a follower asked about health coverage. 'Travelling with stage 4 cancer and not being able to get insurance. How to work through?' the follower asked. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'Get insurance for everything else, no one will ever cover for an existing illness/injury, cancer is just one of them!' Kellie replied. Typically, the social media favourite shared a positive spin, adding, 'You can either live with cancer at home or on holiday,' she said. It comes after Kellie recently revealed the emotional challenges of dealing with her diagnosis in a candid new interview. Kellie, who is married to Port Adelaide star Jeremy Finlayson, is battling stage four bowel and lung cancer and has undergone thoracic surgery in recent months. She was first diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2021 and revealed in 2022 that the illness had spread to her lungs. Appearing on the Jess Rowe Big Talk Show podcast's Safe Space series earlier this month, Kellie, who was promoting her new memoir There Must Be More, said that she was 'thriving' in the wake of her diagnosis. When Jess asked Kellie what she meant by 'thriving', she said it was all about changing her frame of mind. 'It completely comes from mindset,' she said. 'I feel like I still live each day the same as I used to, if not with more life, if that makes sense,' she said. 'I turned a really s***ty situation into a pretty incredible one and a really powerful one with a lot of purpose.' Kellie added that one of the challenges of battling cancer could be how the diagnosis robs the sufferer of agency. 'We don't get many choices when we're diagnosed. We get: Start this treatment or die, essentially. They're your options - get really, really sick from this treatment, or don't be here anymore,' she said. Kellie added that one choice still in front of her was how she chose to fight the disease emotionally. 'The only choice I guess I did have was how I responded to that and how I almost copped it on the chin – like an insult,' she said. '[I] got on with life and did the things I could do to make each day okay, initially, and now great.' Jess then asked Kellie if she had ever experienced "why me?" moments, with the WAG replying that it all comes down to mindset. In March, Kellie revealed she had undergone a VATS procedure to remove a piece of tissue from her lungs. VATS stands for Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery, which is a form of keyhole surgery. She revealed that doctors had removed metastatic tissue from her lungs. Metastatic tissue occurs when cancer cells spread from a primary tumour to other areas in the body to form new tumours. Kellie and Jeremy tied the knot in March 2023, in an intimate ceremony at South Australia's Tennyson Beach. They share daughter Sophia, three, who was born in 2021, just months before Kellie was first diagnosed.

Bargain Hunt's John Cameron's life from health scare to sad reason he quit first job

Bargain Hunt expert John Cameron had a terrifying health scare just minutes before he was due on air Bargain Hunt, which is broadcast on BBC One, featured John Cameron as the expert guiding amateur teams in their quest for hidden gems. ‌ John made headlines in 2024 when he took to social media to reassure his followers after a frightening health scare occurred just moments before he was set to film the popular BBC programme. John was swiftly taken to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth, where he underwent an urgent operation to have a stent fitted. ‌ Expressing his gratitude on Instagram, John praised the NHS staff, saying, "The paramedics 'Jess' and 'Cat' who transported me to Queen Alexandra Hospital with sirens blaring, and the amazing emergency team in theatre who fitted me with a stent unblocking the artery that caused me to have a heart attack just 10 minutes before I was about to film a BBC Bargain Hunt auction at my firm Nesbits in Southsea". ‌ Visibly affected by the incident, he continued: "Not sure how many of my 9 lives still remain but I definitely lost one yesterday." He also reflected philosophically, adding, "To quote the great ancient Chinese philosopher Confucius, 'we have two lives, the second one begins when you realise you only have one'." ‌ Following his hospital stay, John returned home to rest and seems to have made a good recovery. Back in the swing of things, he shared insights into his early life and the reasons behind his choice to pursue a career in antiques. Explaining his background, he mentioned: "I grew up around antiques as my grandfather was a dealer, however, on leaving school I served a five-year apprenticeship as a carpenter/joiner. ‌ "As my £27.50 weekly YTS wages weren't enough, I supplemented my income by stripping, restoring and waxing antique pine furniture which was very fashionable in the late 1980s." Yet, an injury compelled him to abandon this line of work, as he explained: "A re-occurring prolapse disc in my back forced me to give up my physical job and return to college where I undertook a three-year degree course at Southampton, studying fine art valuation. ‌ "I followed this with two further years studying whilst working at an auction house to become a chartered surveyor of antiques and fine art." Despite being content with his career trajectory, he did reveal an alternative path that intrigued him. "If I wasn't working in the antiques trade, I would have loved to train as a chef," he confessed. He expressed his enthusiasm for gastronomy and oenology, saying: "I am passionate about good food and wine, and love nothing more than watching cooking programmes over antiques programmes! Failing that, I would probably use my knowledge of carpentry and general building to renovate property." Catch Bargain Hunt on BBC One, weekdays at 12.15pm.
