BBC make major broadcast change as they drop CBB star Chris Hughes for coverage of huge sporting competition

CELEBRITY BIG BROTHER star Chris Hughes has been dropped by the BBC from their coverage of the Hundred cricket competition.
The former Love Island finalist has been used by the BBC as a presenter and interviewer on the Hundred since it launched as a new format to appeal to youngsters in 2021, but will not return this summer.

The Hundred begins on Tuesday with a derby between London Spirit and Oval Invincibles at Lord's.
The BBC share TV rights for the competition with Sky Sports.
A BBC source said: 'Chris has done a good job for four years, but we're going in a different direction.
'There will be more focus on the cricket this year, rather than promoting the Hundred as an entertainment show.
'Former England cricketers Alex Hartley and Isa Guha and will lead the presenting team, as they know the sport inside out. Rick Edwards from Radio Five Live will be used in the Chris Hughes role.'
Being dropped for the Hundred is the second big sports job Hughes has lost in the space of a few months.
In April The Sun revealed that
Racing is the 32-year-old's favourite sport so that was a bitter blow.
Hughes' four years of presenting cricket for the BBC were not without controversy.
In 2023 he was formally reprimanded by the BBC for making comments that were 'not appropriate' after he told a female cricketer on air she was like 'a little Barbie'.

Explaining how her Southern Brave team had bonded ahead of the tournament, Australian all-rounder Maitlan Brown said: 'We watched Barbie the other night all together and it was really good team bonding.'
Hughes then replied: 'You're a little Barbie yourself, aren't you, with your blue eyes.'
As Brown laughed, Hughes added: 'She's blushing now.'
After his comments attracted criticism on social media, a BBC spokesperson said: 'We have spoken to Chris and explained that his comment was not appropriate.'
Despite the warning Hughes returned to work for the BBC the following year.
The BBC declined to comment.

Michelle Ryan reveals reason behind EastEnders return after making Jessie Wallace cry

Michelle Ryan and Jessie Wallace talk about their Albert Square characters being reunited after 20 years It was exciting for soap viewers, but Jessie Wallace says she burst into tears when she was reunited with Michelle Ryan. The pair are set to star together again later this month on EastEnders. It follows a fleeting appearance from Michelle, 41, as Zoe earlier this Summer for several episodes to tease her full return to the BBC soap. ‌ 'I burst out crying,' Jessie recalled of their first meeting. "We met for a secret dinner date with [executive producer] Ben Wadey and the Slaters. When I saw Michelle, I cried – we were all very emotional. It was nostalgic and lovely.' Wallace also insisted her co-star couldn't be recast for the new storyline. It comes after reports of all the celebrities rumoured to be joining BBC Strictly Come Dancing 2025. ‌ In an interview with Radio Times, she recalled: 'I said to Ben, 'It has to be Michelle. It won't feel right if Zoe is recast.' I wouldn't be able to give my best performance. The audience would feel completely conned. ‌ 'I love Michelle and have always been protective over her, perhaps that's natural having played her mum. I'm a mother myself now, which I wasn't when we worked together before, and I'm very protective over my daughter. 'I've changed and so has Kat. I've grown up a lot, and Kat is more responsible now. She's got three boys and is married. Kat would die for her children, she wasn't allowed to be a parent when she had Zoe but has become a great mum. It's one of the qualities I love most about her.' Actress Michelle returned to play Zoe Slater after being away from the soap for 20 years in June. Around 2.2 million people watched her shock appearance on the BBC One soap, which unusually had not been made available on iPlayer earlier in the day. She will now return for more episodes in August. ‌ The character is best remembered for the 2001 cliffhanger in which she screamed at her sister Kat Slater "you ain't my mother!" who fired back with the iconic twist: "Yes I am." Michelle described returning to the show, where she last starred in June 2005, as feeling "like coming home'. ‌ Paying tribute to her co-star she said: 'Jessie is one of the best actresses I've ever worked with.'The rapport we have and our friendship off screen as well, it all just feeds into that mother-daughter bond. On set, it's like having someone in your corner all the time and always knowing that I'll be fine. I can just talk to Jessie. We have a shorthand, and we have a similar kind of view on the characters and their journey.' Michelle was revealed to viewers at the end of the June episode, making a dramatic reunion with step-father Alfie Moon and cousin Stacey Slater just before the credits. It was the first episode produced by the show's new executive producer Ben Wadey who said the character was on his wish-list of returnees before stepping into the role. He said: "I was absolutely delighted when Michelle agreed to return, and I'm thrilled to welcome her back to Walford." After leaving the soap in 2005, Michelle made appearances in BBC One shows Merlin, Doctor Who and Jekyll. ‌ She was also cast as the lead in a remake of the 1970s programme The Bionic Woman, which was cancelled by US broadcaster NBC after eight episodes. Speaking candidly in the Radio Times interview she admitted another reason for wanting to come back was regular work. She said she had loved the freedom of being able to pick jobs and mixing up theatre and film. "But there comes a time when you think, actually, it would be great to have a routine,' she said. The actress revealed that the invitation to return to Elstree Studios arrived at a time she had been reflecting on her time on the BBC soap with old castmates. She said: "It all happened at the right time. I'd already been thinking about a return because I'd met up with Kacey Ainsworth and Kim Medcalf and we were reminiscing our fond memories of the show. ‌ "It just so happened that at the same time, EastEnders had announced a new Exec who was keen to explore the potential of a return as he was such a massive fan of Zoe and the Slaters. "I can't say too much as there is a lot of drama to come, but Zoe is a mess. She's not the girl that left Walford twenty years ago, and she's been really struggling on her own."

Family of dad who plunged to death at Oasis gig pay heartbreaking tribute to ‘lifelong fan' who ‘loved his kids'

THE father of a man who tragically died at an Oasis concert has paid tribute to the "lifelong fan" who "loved him kids". Lee Claydon, 45, is understood to have fallen from the upper tier balcony at the Wembley Stadium concert on Sunday. 3 3 Heartbroken father Clive Claydon, 75, told how his son had been 'super excited' about the gig, for which he bought tickets a year ago. 'He was a lifelong Oasis fan and he was so looking forward to going. Out of all the thousands of people there why's it got to be my son?" He said holding back tears. Speaking at his Bournemouth home, close to where Lee lived his partner and son Harry, Clive said he went to the concert with his brother Aaron and his niece and nephew. He remembered his son as a 'lovely, lovely bloke' who 'no one could say a bad thing about ever." He said: 'He was a hard worker, has been all his life. He loved his kids, he looked after them and his girlfriend. 'He is a real family man; they were supposed to be going on a big family holiday all together in two weeks' time.' 'I don't know how his girlfriend is going to cope; she is really going to struggle without him.' Clive last saw Lee last week and said his son had been talking about the Oasis concert for months. He said: 'I spoke to him at the weekend, and he was talking about it then. I just can't believe it I've had to go to the doctors for tablets today because I am so devastated.' Clive said he had been angered by online comments suggesting Lee may have taken his own life. He said: 'It's disgusting, he did not commit suicide. He had everything to live for. It was nothing to do with drugs, or being drunk either. 'He has never taken drugs in his life and he may have had a beer, who doesn't at a concert, but he certainly was not drunk. 'It was just a pure accident, a horrible accident.' He said the family were now rallying around Lee's partner and children saying: 'We are just doing what we can. British Grammy winner reveals drug use was so serious she now suffers with speech issues and was banned from driving

CLEAN BANDIT's Grace Chatto has revealed the emotional story behind their new tune Believe. The cellist, who is one third of the electronic band, told for the first time that a battle with drugs as a youngster left her with speech problems and a raft of other issues. 12 She said in a TikTok post: 'I speak so slowly because I took too many drugs when I was a teenager.' Grace detailed other struggles, admitting: 'I can't get car insurance because I had a driving ban.' But the musician, whose band has topped the charts with hits such as Rather Be, Rockabye and Symphony, said their latest tune is poignant because it reminds her to count her blessings every morning. Alongside the caption 'I believe in us' to reference the track featuring South African singer Lloyiso, she added: 'But I believe in us. Won a Grammy, gratitude for all that I have, I am strong, I'm nice, I am honest.' Her honesty has gone down a storm with fans, with more than 180,000 liking the post. She's come a long way – and things are only going up. It's Hill country BECKY HILL has a quieter life these days. She posed in the countryside with fiancé Charlie Gardner after snapping up a rural pad to settle down in. 12 In a post on Instagram, she wrote: 'I decided to have a quieter year at work so I could write album three, get married and buy a house fit for the next chapter of my life. 'I've been lucky enough to be able to retire both of my parents, buy them a house and got my big brother a house too. 'So it was our turn. Worked my whole life to protect my family and now I have a new home fit for our own. Not yet though, I got a new album to finish.' Clean Bandit perform at Royal Variety Concert 2018 ALL EYES ON KT WITH 3 NEW SONGS FOR DEBUT RE-ISSUE KT TUNSTALL is preparing to drop three new songs on the 20th anniversary re-issue of her debut album Eye To The Telescope. The exclusive tunes, which include the never-before-released title track, will be on the new version of the record, when it comes out on October 31. KT told me: 'The title for my first album was inspired by the times when my physicist dad – who had a spare set of keys for the Observatory at St Andrews University – would randomly get us up in the middle of the night and bundle us into the car in our pyjamas to go and look through the huge telescope to see the night sky. The moon, Saturn, Halley's Comet all completely blew my mind as a kid. 'When I decided to call the album Eye To The Telescope, I thought I'd have a go at writing a title track. 'What I began writing was so delicate, and I felt that a title track of a first album surely had to be a banger, so I abandoned it. My label BMG encouraged me to finish the song for this special re-release, and it's been such a thrill to complete something over 20 years in the making.' Lizzo weighs in on trolls LIZZO has again hit back at trolls who attacked her for losing weight. The Juice singer is the cover star of Women's Health UK, and said, rightly, she wouldn't be bullied by the sad-acts targeting her from anonymous social media accounts. 12 12 In her interview with the September issue of the mag, which is out now, Lizzo said: 'It's radical to f*** with yourself. 'I had to fight for that [to love myself]. And now I'm fighting again. 'It's OK to gain weight after you've [lost] weight, because what you're not going to do is shame me if my body changes again and I get bigger.' Hear, hear, Lizzo. TINDER RETRY FOR TODRICK HE is dazzling West End crowds as the star and director of Burlesque the Musical. But US actor Todrick Hall is hoping to find more than just a good review while in London. 12 He's trying to get a boyfriend, too! Instead of looking for a showbiz personality to mingle with his A-list pals such as Taylor Swift, he has signed up to dating app Tinder to find a normal bloke. A single pal of mine was swiping on the app and saw Todrick's profile, which features a photo of him with another of his famous friends, Nicole Scherzinger. On the page, which has been verified as his, he writes: 'I make videos, sing, dance and act. I love Beyonce, Wizard Of Oz and Disney. So basically, I'm not the most masc person on here. 'If you're into it, swipe right lol.' It's actually a return to the app for Todrick, who said in 2023: 'I keep getting kicked off of Tinder because people think it's a catfish. 'So when I get on there, I'm like 'you better swipe until you can't swipe no more because your time is limited, OK?'.' VIDEO director Joseph Kahn has risked the wrath of Taylor Swift. The camera wiz pulled the curtain back on Taylor's inner circle. 12 Joseph revealed he and Taylor secretly made a full video for her Reputation album track King Of My Heart back when the record came out in 2017. Joseph said: 'We shot this sort of very conceptual thing and then she decided Ready For It? was a better single.' He previously worked on Britney Spears' iconic Toxic video, and Taylor's Blank Space. Damon's Bec in the game BLUR frontman Damon Albarn was out walking his dog, joined by Gorillaz collaborator Rebecca Freckleton. They were spotted close to his London home. 12 Damon has been single since splitting from Suzi Winstanley after 25 years. There's good reason Damon and Rebecca are hanging out, after he told The Sun last month he is working on the next Gorillaz record due next year. Damon said: 'I've been incredibly busy making music – it's what I love to do – so I suppose I'm going to have to share some of it soon. I was doing an opera in Paris and starting on the new Gorillaz record. It's been crazy.'
