Washington imposes sanctions on UN Special Rapporteur Albanese

Saba Yemen3 days ago
Washington – Saba:
The United States imposed sanctions on Wednesday against UN Special Rapporteur on human rights in the occupied Palestinian territories Francesca Albanese over her statements and accusations against several Western countries regarding their dealings with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the war criminal wanted by the International Criminal Court.
In a position biased toward the criminal Zionist entity, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in a post on X platform: "Today, I am imposing sanctions on UN Special Rapporteur on human rights, Francesca Albanese, for her illegal and shameful efforts to urge the International Criminal Court to take action against American and Israeli officials, companies, and executives," he claimed.
Rubio added, "There will be no more tolerance for Albanese's campaign of political and economic warfare against the United States and Israel."
This escalation comes hours after Albanese criticized France, Italy, and Greece for allowing the Israeli Prime Minister to use their airspace, despite the International Criminal Court's arrest warrant for him on charges of war crimes and crimes against humanity in the Gaza Strip.
In a post on her Twitter account, Albanese questioned the reasons for "providing safe passage" for Netanyahu, arguing that the three countries, as parties to the Rome Statute, must abide by their legal obligations to the International Court.
She said, "The governments of France, Italy, and Greece must provide official clarifications regarding their provision of safe passage for a person wanted by international justice," noting that such actions "weaken the international legal system and put everyone at risk."
With American and European support, the Israeli enemy army has continued to commit genocidal crimes in the Gaza Strip since October 7, 2023, resulting in the martyrdom of 57,680 Palestinian civilians, the majority of whom were children and women, and the injury of 137,409 others. To date, this is a preliminary toll, with thousands of victims still buried under the rubble and on the streets, unable to be reached by ambulances and rescue teams.
