The Young Minds Save Lives programme, run by the Scottish Ambulance Service and funded by NHS Charities Together, is co-designed with young people and provides them with knowledge and skills on how to respond in a medical emergency and preventative healthcare.
It also aims to raise awareness about future careers in health and opportunities for volunteering, while developing skills in when and how to access healthcare.

It was piloted with S3 students from Shawlands Academy and Holyrood Secondary School, and has already helped more than 1,200 high school students increase their knowledge and confidence in responding to medical emergencies.
An evaluation conducted by the University of Glasgow reported impressive results from the initial pilot phase, including a 150 per cent increase in awareness of how to put someone in the recovery position, a 49 per cent increase in confidence in providing first aid to a penetrating wound, and a 30 per cent increase in confidence about responding to an emergency that might involve drugs and/or alcohol.
Arran Lambie, an S3 student at Holyrood Secondary School, said: 'I really enjoyed the Young Minds Save Lives programme as it was really interactive and we got to use mannequins and VR headsets.
"We also got to take part in an escape room where we solved mysteries using the information we'd learned and we had to work as a team.

"It was a really good way to keep the knowledge in our heads and make it something that we'll remember forever."
Michael Dickson, chief executive of the Scottish Ambulance Service, said: "We are delighted with the evaluation results and the brilliant feedback we've had from the schools, pupils and their families saying that the Young Minds Save Lives programme has been fun, engaging, informative and inspiring.
"We are currently delivering the programme to an additional three schools in Glasgow - Hollybrook Academy, which supports pupils with additional learning needs, St Margaret Mary's Secondary School and Castlemilk High School – and at the young people's request, we've added a mental health topic which was again co-designed with students to ensure the content addresses what they consider most important.
"The next step is now to secure ongoing investment which will enable us to roll the initiative out across the country."

Butterbean's heartbreaking admission about weighing 500lb before one moment that changed his life

Former boxer Butterbean was bed-bound for the best part of a year after finding himself immobilised due to his weight, but the American has opened up on one thing that helped him turn his life around Butterbean has explained believing in himself when the odds were stacked against him was instrumental to overcoming a deep-seated depression. The heavyweight boxer made quite the name for himself in the 1990s and early 2000s, tipping the scales at between 300 and 400lbs for his fights while dispatching of a wealth of big-name opponents through his sheer knockout power. ‌ But after retiring from the fight game in 2013 with a professional record of 77-10-4, Butterbean – whose real name is Eric Esch – saw his weight skyrocket to an all time high in excess of 500lbs. ‌ It led to him needing a wheelchair for mobility and doctors telling him that he would never walk again. ‌ What followed was a cruel depression which left the 58-year-old bed-ridden for the best part of a year, only leaving his room to go to the toilet. Speaking about his darkest hours in conversation with Mirror Fighting via Lucky Energy, the Atlanta-born bruiser said: "It was horrible. My hips were so bad, I couldn't walk. And if you can't walk, you're going to gain weight. I was way over 500 pounds." He added: "A lot of fighters do get depressed. A lot of actors and celebrities, people that are in the public eye a lot do get depressed a lot. People don't realise that. When you can't walk and you can't walk into the store and get something to drink, you do get depressed. "I was in bed for almost a year, not got out of bed, just to go to the bathroom. And I ate in the bed. I mean, I didn't even leave the bed." So what changed which allowed Butterbean to crawl out of the hole he was trapped in for so long and undergo a remarkable body transformation which has seen him shed down to an all-time low of 285lbs? According to the man himself, it all came down to self-belief. ‌ He explained: "But once I started believing in myself, life is good. I spend more time with my grandkids and I got 10 of them. I got 10 little boogers running around. So life is just really good right now. I'm just blessed." Butterbean also credits his incredible weight-loss journey to former WWE star 'Diamond' Dallas Page and his stellar yoga programme. He explained: "Guess what? I'm not in a wheelchair no more. "I went and moved to DDP for a while, did his yoga programme, and I'm in the best shape of my life right now. I feel better now at 50-something than I did when I was in my 20s, which is insane. I can't explain it, but the Fountain of Youth, I dove in it and I come out so much better." ‌ It's not just friends and family that have been left in awe of Butterbean's accomplishment in shifting weight and flipping poor mental health on its head either. The legend even claimed that he received a letter from a fan who said that he saved their life after they saw his remarkable change of physique. When asked about his family's reaction to him gearing up for a potential return to the squared-circle in the near future, he replied: "Well, they know if I set my mind to something, that I'm not changing it. And helping other people... ‌ "I've got a letter, one letter really just says, it sets in deep how he watched my recovery and he was about to end his life. And because of my success, he goes, 'You know what? I do have something to look for. I have people that care about me and I have a life that I can live if I just put a little bit more effort.' "That meant a lot to me when somebody tells you that just by something you've accomplished made them believe in themselves. That made me feel better. It's like when you cook a really good meal and you get a lot of compliments. It was that same thing." Butterbean has made it no secret that he hopes to have one last dance in the squared-circle before calling time on his boxing career for good, with a number of opponents on his mind including Mike Tyson and Tyson Fury. However, nobody has managed to get his blood pumping quite like YouTuber-turned-pugilist Jake Paul. ‌ In a mock-up press conference to promote the launch of his new Butterbean's Knockout Punch with Lucky Energy, Butterbean is seen abandoning the wheelchair he relied on before taking to the microphone to address reporters. He then says: "Butterbean's back for one more fight. "There's only one fighter out there that wants to fight retired, bald guys. Jake Paul, I'm coming for you. I want to fight Jake Paul because he runs his damn mouth too much."

Bacon will be perfectly crispy in 45 seconds using this unusual method

This easy method for cooking bacon will save you time and effort when cooking up your next fry up It might not top the list of healthiest breakfast, but sometimes nothing hits the spot quite like crispy rashers of bacon. Whether you're enjoying them alongside soft, yolky eggs and a splash of tomato sauce or sandwiched between slices of fresh bread on a lazy summer morning, bacon remains a beloved treat. ‌ But what if you could enjoy that indulgent bacon fix with less hassle, fewer calories and in a fraction of the time it takes to fry? Surprisingly there's a quicker and cleaner way to cook bacon - all you need is a microwave. ‌ At first, the idea of microwaved bacon might not sound especially appetising. But food experts say it can deliver delicious results that rival traditional frying - without the oil, the splatter or the washing-up, the Express reports. ‌ Whether you prefer smoked or unsmoked rashers, this method is fast, easy and surprisingly effective. How to cook bacon in the microwave According to BBC Good Food, it's simple: ‌ Line a microwave safe plate with some sheets of kitchen roll Lay your bacon rashers flat, making sure they don't overlap If you prefer softer bacon, cover the plate with a microwave safe lid Set your microwave to high power (if adjustable) and cook according to your desired crispiness: For medium crispy bacon - 1 minute per rasher. Extra crispy bacon - 2 minutes+ per rasher Check the bacon halfway through cooking to ensure it's cooking evenly and turn over if necessary If you like American style bacon, just extend the cooking time until you reach the perfect crunch. ‌ This method is backed by other food websites and bloggers, for creating the perfect rasher of bacon in minutes. The Healthy Recipe Blog says: "This bacon is absolutely amazing. I resisted the idea for a long time, thinking it couldn't possibly be as good as pan-fried or oven bacon." The blog's host admitted that they were wrong, saying: "Happily, I was wrong! Using the microwave to cook bacon is just as good as using the oven or a frying pan. The bacon cooks evenly and comes out perfectly crispy. And it's a fast method - faster and easier than any other." ‌ "You can use this bacon like any other bacon! It's an obvious breakfast choice," they continued. If you have any leftover bacon, or you have just over estimated how much you can eat, the blogger gives tips for storage, saying: "You can keep the leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to four days. Once they are cool, I store them in a resealable food storage bag." The best part of this method is there is no oil needed. Meaning you are skipping the extra calories that come with pan frying bacon.

Hulk Hogan's final moments detailed - desperate 911 call to hospital dash

WWE icon Hulk Hogan died aged 71 after suffering a cardiac arrest. Insiders and old friends claimed he was suffering with health issues in recent weeks Wrestling legend Hulk Hogan was getting "tired easily" and "couldn't speak" in the days leading up to his shock death aged 71. The WWE icon reportedly suffered a cardiac arrest at his Florida home, with medics working tirelessly for 30 minutes to save the star on Thursday morning. ‌ It was reported he was struggling with his health in the weeks leading up to his death, with the star recently undergoing surgery on his neck. A source told The Mirror that the former WWE superstar had long been battling a 'very weak heart' and had deteriorated significantly in recent weeks. ‌ ‌ "Over his last few weeks, he was suffering from shortness of breath, becoming tired easily,' the insider said. "He also began to lose weight, which made him look frail. Terry knew he wasn't in a good way." "He had a lot of people he wanted to make peace with. It was important to him to repair the bridges that had once been destroyed." At the time of his death, Hogan remained estranged from his daughter Brooke, it is understood. A few days before, his old pal Lummy said on the Bubba The Love Sponge podcast the wrestler was on his deathbed and "couldn't talk". ‌ "His trachea or whatever was damaged and he's having problems and it does not look good. It does not look at all," he claimed. Bubba, who was once sued by Hogan for leaking a sex tape of his wife and the wrestler, told the channel he had heard from a hospital security guard: "He was transported to his house but he's still in his hospital bed. It's just like he's at the hospital. ‌ "They've gone as far as they can go at the hospital now. They just they're keeping him comfortable at his house in a hospital bed." He added: "He's not in such dire needs that he needs to be in close proximity to an emergency facility. He's stable enough to be at home, but you know, rather than just be sitting here getting bed sores and muscle atrophy at at Morton Plant, I can at least be home, get doctors and nurses to swing by my place to continue to check up on me. ‌ "But I've been told that that's where he's at now. And the security guard said the measures that they went to make sure nobody saw him transported in an ambulance to his home was like Michael Jackson type stuff." On May 15, a representative for Hogan informed American press that he had received a "little fusion procedure" on his neck and was healing rapidly. This follows longtime mate Eric Bischoff revealing in a statement: "Hulk Hogan had a very successful cervical surgery and is experiencing some adverse reaction." ‌ On Thursday morning, it was said that a number of police cars and emergency vehicles were parked outside the wrestling legend's home, and he was 'carried on a stretcher into an ambulance'. Operators of the 911 call could be heard dispatching paramedics to the scene as they noted the matter was for a cardiac arrest. Officials responded to the call at 9:51am, as he received treatment from Clearwater Fire & Rescue before being taken to a nearby hospital. He died at the hospital at 11:17am. The sports star's death was confirmed by WWE in a heartbreaking statement. They wrote: "WWE is saddened to learn WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has passed away. One of pop culture's most recognisable figures, Hogan helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s. WWE extends its condolences to Hogan's family, friends, and fans.'
