Short-Handed Dodgers May Be Forced to Make Roster Moves After Astros Sweep
Three of Roberts' four right-handed hitting reserves – Teoscar Hernández, Kiké Hernández, and switch-hitter Tommy Edman – were unavailable because of minor injuries, which could force the Dodgers to make a roster move to bolster their bench depth before Monday night's series opener at Milwaukee. That forced left fielder Michael Conforto, second baseman Hyeseong Kim, and catcher Dalton Rushing, all lefties, to bat against Sousa and King, who threw scoreless innings to help the Astros sweep a three-game series in Dodger Stadium for the first time since 2008.
'Today we had one player available, and that was the catcher,' Roberts said, referring to All-Star starter Will Smith, who is healthy but was given the day off. 'That's not a good feeling.'

Teoscar Hernández, who is batting .257 with a .758 OPS, 14 home runs, and 54 RBIs, fouled a ball off his left foot Saturday night. A scan of the foot was negative, but he was too sore to play Sunday and will be reevaluated on Monday.
Edman, who is batting .239 with a .718 OPS, 10 home runs, and 38 RBIs, fractured his toe when he fouled a ball off his right foot on Saturday, but Roberts said the utility player should be able to play through the injury.
'It's kind of per his (pain) tolerance,' Roberts said, 'so I don't see an (injured list) situation.'
Kiké Hernández, a utility player who is batting .195 with eight home runs and 22 RBIs in 71 games, has been playing with left-elbow discomfort for about a month and seems the most likely of the three to go on the injured list Monday or Tuesday.
'It doesn't affect the defense, but his swing has been compromised – yesterday (Saturday) it came to a head as far as swinging, and so we stayed away from him today (Sunday),' Roberts said. 'So with these three guys we're trying to figure out where we're at.'

Hakstol also was the head coach in Philadelphia for parts of four seasons and went 134–101–42. Before the NHL, Hakstol spent 11 seasons as the head coach at the University of North Dakota, leading the team to seven Frozen Four appearances. In international competitions, he won a pair of silver medals as an assistant coach with Team Canada at the IIHF World Championship in 2017 and 2019. The 2017 squad featured MacKinnon, and the 2019 team had Avalanche goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood. 'This is a proud organization with a lot of talented players,' Hakstol said. Investigation Finds Bay FC Coach Did Not Violate the NWSL's Harassment and Bullying Policy
An independent investigation found that Bay FC coach Albertin Montoya did not violate the National Women's Soccer League's antiharassment, discrimination, and bullying policy, but found shortcomings in his communication style. The investigation stemmed from a report in the San Francisco Chronicle in March that described a toxic work environment. At least two formal complaints had been made about the team, the newspaper reported. Montoya was investigated for alleged violations of the 'Policy to Prevent and Eliminate Workplace Discrimination, Harassment, and Bullying.' The findings were announced Tuesday. All parties cooperated with the investigation, which was conducted by New York–based law firm Debevoise & Plimpton. 'The league conducted a comprehensive review and determined Bay FC head coach Albertin Montoya was not in violation of any league rules,' Bay FC said in a statement in response to the league's announcement. 'We are grateful the league has identified opportunities for additional communication improvements, which we are and have been implementing. We strive to be a player-centric club and will continue to work hard to make sure we have a supportive environment for our players. We believe in the culture we are building at Bay FC and will continue to support our players' growth on and off the pitch.' Among the findings were recommendations to facilitate more effective communication and enhance support structures, which the NWSL, Bay FC, and coach Montoya have taken and are continuing to take to address such concerns, the league said. The NWSL was rocked by an abuse and misconduct scandal in 2021. Five coaches resigned or were fired in the aftermath. In response, the NWSL implemented changes to protect players, including enhanced vetting of club employees and an anonymous tip line for players. The NWSL Players Association also negotiated safeguards in its collective-bargaining agreement with the league.

Celtics' Brad Stevens Shuns Idea Team Is in a Rebuild With Jayson Tatum Out
Even before Jayson Tatum limped off the court with a torn Achilles tendon during the Celtics' Eastern Conference semifinals loss to the New York Knicks, Brad Stevens knew big changes would be on tap for the franchise this offseason. Yes, big spending on free agents and contracts had lured in key players like Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis, who, combined with stars Tatum and Jaylen Brown, ultimately helped Boston capture the NBA championship in 2024. But keeping the core of that roster intact next season–with Tatum possibly missing all of it while rehabbing from his injury–would have come with a combined payroll and luxury tax bill of more than $500 million. And as a team exceeding the second apron of the salary cap, it would have also meant additional penalties, limiting ways they could sign or trade for players. 'The second apron is why those trades happened. I think that is pretty obvious. According to Stevens, Tatum was moving really fast in his walking boot, while Brown was already getting shots up and is expected to get full clearance for basketball activities soon. In the meantime, Stevens said he's completely comfortable with Brown being the team's focal point on the court. He thinks it's a challenge that Brown welcomes and one that he's proven an ability to excel in during previous times Tatum has been sidelined by injury. 'He's ready for any challenge, and he always has been,' Stevens said.
