Seagulls target Elliot
Brighton are set to enter the race for Harvey Elliott - and have identified the Liverpool star as their key summer target.
The England international's future at Anfield is unclear, and his playing time last season was limited under Arne Slot.
That's put him on the radar of several clubs in England, and abroad, who are keen to secure the services of a versatile player who can operate in midfield or out wide.
SunSport understands Brighton are now tracking the 22-year-old and see him as a player who can help take them to the next level.
And sources say the presence of James Milner, Liverpool's former vice-captain, could help persuade Elliott to make the switch to the south coast.

Sunday's briefing: England Under-21s defend European title and Chelsea advance
England boss Sarina Wiegman continues the preparation for Euro 2025 with a friendly against Jamaica in Leicester on Sunday. Young Lions roar again Jonathan Rowe's extra-time header secured England Under-21s back-to-back European Championship titles after beating Germany 3-2 in extra-time in Bratislava. Germany had beaten England in the group stages, but Lee Carsley's side got off to a flying start with early goals from Harvey Elliott and Omari Hutchinson. However, Nelson Weiper struck just before the break and Paul Nebel then dragged Germany back on level terms. Harvey Elliott gave England an early lead (PA Wire) Substitute Rowe made an instant impact after coming off the bench in extra-time, scoring with a diving header which proved decisive despite Germany coming close again late on when Merlin Rohl's effort rattled the crossbar. 'I am so proud of them, so happy for them,' England Under-21s boss Carsley said on Channel 4. 'To be European champions for the second time is a great achievement and I suppose the challenge now is to do it again in two years.' Blues march on at Club World Cup Chelsea captain Reece James (right) scored a free-kick just after the hour (Nell Redmond/AP) Chelsea beat Benfica 4-1 after a weather delay late on in the match in Charlotte to reach the quarter-finals of the Club World Cup, where they will face Brazilian side Palmeiras. The Blues saw first-half efforts from Marc Cucurella and Cole Palmer saved by Benfica goalkeeper Anatolii Trubin. The Ukrainian, though, was caught out in the 64th minute when Reece James fired an angled free-kick from the left past him at the near post. The match was suspended with just four minutes left of normal time because of the risk of lightning in the vicinity of Bank of America Stadium, a break which lasted almost two hours. When the game resumed, Angel Di Maria equalised from the penalty spot to send the game into extra-time. After Benfica's Gianluca Prestianni was sent off, Chelsea regained control and Christopher Nkunku put them ahead from close range. Pedro Neto and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall added late goals on the break In Saturday's other last-16 tie, Palmeiras beat Brazil rivals Botafogo 1-0 after extra-time in Philadelphia. Palmeiras substitute Paulinho made the decisive breakthrough in the 10th minute of extra-time, before captain Gustavo Gomez was sent off for a second yellow card following an off-the-ball tussle, but his side held out. Lionesses continue Euros countdown England host Jamaica at the King Power Stadium on Sunday for their Euro 2025 send-off friendly. Lauren James is in line for her first appearance since sustaining a hamstring injury in April. The Chelsea forward, 23, has been unable to feature for club or country since limping off midway through England's 5-0 Nations League win against Belgium nearly three months ago, but returned to training last week. England boss Sarina Wiegman said: 'She is doing really well, but of course she hasn't played games yet, but she's in a good place. 'She will likely come off the bench, we can manage that a bit. She showed up on the training session really well.' Cristiano Ronaldo sees a bigger picture Cristiano Ronaldo feels turning down the opportunity to play at the Club World Cup and signing a new two-year deal with Al Nassr gives him a better chance of success next season – and another shot at taking Portugal to World Cup glory. Following Al Nassr's final league game of the season last month, Ronaldo had posted on social media 'the chapter is over', which fuelled speculation the five-time Ballon d'Or winner was to leave the Saudi Pro League club. The 40-year-old revealed teams had 'reached out' over taking part in the Club World Cup in the United States, but he decided instead to extend his stay with Al Nassr. 'I had some offers to play (Club) World Cup, but I think it didn't make sense because I prefer to have a good rest, a good preparation, because this season will be very long, because this is the season of the World Cup at the end,' Ronaldo told Al Nassr TV. 'I want to be ready not only for Al Nassr, but also for the national team, so this is why I decide to play the last game for the Nations League and not listen to nothing (about the offers) and of course to be in this club, which I love.' What's on today? England manager Sarina Wiegman is fine tuning the squad ahead of the defence of their European Championship crown (Nigel French/PA) England host Jamaica in Leicester for their final warm-up fixture ahead of Euro 2025. The Club World Cup knockout stage continues as PSG take on Inter Miami in Atlanta while Bayern Munich face Brazilian side Flamengo in Miami.

Liverpool close in on Marc Guehi deal as transfer clause details come to light
Liverpool have been the Premier League's big spenders this summer, with Florian Wirtz one of the stars to move to Anfield, but Arne Slot's side are not done just yet Liverpool have made a very busy start to the summer but Arne Slot's side are far from done. They might have won the Premier League title last term, but now the time has come to build from a position of strength. Florian Wirtz is the marquee summer signing, while Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong have also been brought on board. Giorgi Mamardashvili's arrival was confirmed a full year ago, while we have also seen the Reds say goodbye to the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Caoimhin Kelleher as well as adding backup keeper Freddie Woodman. Next up is an additional centre-back. Jarell Quansah looks to be Leverkusen-bound, and Marc Guehi could be the man to replace him at Anfield. Liverpool aren't done selling players either, by the looks of it. Darwin Nunez is ready to leave after a difficult season on a personal level, though things aren't entirely straightforward when it comes to the Uruguayan's exit. We've got updates for you on some of those pending ins and outs as Slot looks to freshen up his squad. Here are Mirror Football 's latest lines from the red half of Merseyside. Liverpool close in on Guehi Liverpool are closing in on their next transfer target, with Marc Guehi on the verge of a move from Crystal Palace. The Eagles are expected to accept around £40m for the star, who is in the final year of his deal, after wanting around £70m last summer. The England intenational has been a key player for the Eagles since joining from Chelsea in 2021. He played his 150th game for Palace this season, and captained them to victory in the FA Cup final. Guehi, 24, has also increased his importance to the senior England team. He won his 23rd cap in March, playing the full 90 minutes as England beat Latvia in a World Cup qualifier. Chelsea to benefit from Reds deal It's not just Palace who will benefit financially from Guehi's move. Former club Chelsea are understood to have a 20 percent sell-on clause, which would net them £8m if Guehi moves for the anticipated £40m. Chelsea have already been busy this summer, signing the likes of Liam Delap and Dario Essugo. An extra windfall could go towards further signings after the Blues return from the Club World Cup. One of the players being eyed by Enzo Maresca's side is Jamie Gittens. Talks over a swoop for the Dortmund winger have continued despite Chelsea failing to get a deal done before the Club World Cup got underway. Nunez set for waiting game Darwin Nunez is ready to leave Liverpool but is likely to have to wait for an exit. This is because suitors Napoli are some way away from the Reds in their valuation of the Uruguayan. Liverpool want £70m for Nunez, who joined in a big-money move from Benfica in 2022. Napoli believe something closer to £50m is fair for a player who struggled for minutes at Anfield last season. Nunez started just eight league games for Liverpool last summer, with Luis Diaz often preferred in the number nine role. Napoli have money to spend after selling Khvicha Kvaratskhelia in January but aren't budging on the fee just yet.

Gyokeres makes Arsenal transfer decision as problem arises for Guehi alternative
The Viktor Gyokeres saga continues, with Sporting Lisbon making a decision on their want-away striker, while Arsenal continue their attempts to sign Valencia star Cristhian Mosquera Arsenal know they need a busy summer transfer window, having finished second in the Premier League for the third straight season – and things are beginning to hot up. They are working on transfers right across the positions, with back-up goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga set to join from Chelsea, midfielder Martin Zubimendi arriving from Real Sociedad and Christian Norgaard coming from Brentford. The Gunners also want a centre-back, a top-class winger and a centre-forward to bolster Mikel Arteta 's squad. The slugginess in which they are pursuing a striker has annoyed some supporters who are desperate for a big-money signing up front. The question there has been boiled down to: Benjamin Sesko or Viktor Gyokeres. That question hasn't been answered yet, but sporting director Andrea Berta continues to work on it. Meanwhile, Arsenal are also chasing a centre-back to strengthen their options at the back. Here Mirror Football brings you the latest in those areas – and more. Gyokeres stance clear Arsenal are still understood to prefer Sesko to Gyokeres, but the Portuguese press has offered a different perspective on the saga. O Jogo reports that Gyokeres has been granted permission to join up late with Sporting for pre-season. The Swedish striker has reportedly told Sporting he won't play for them again and is determined to force through a move as soon as possible. He only has eyes for Arsenal – and the Gunners know his stance. Arsenal previously had an offer of €55m (£47m) plus bonuses rejected and the report says they hope that €60m (£51m) plus €10m (£8.5m) in bonuses will be enough to land him. They have apparently agreed this with Gyokeres' agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, but Sporting president Frederico Varandas wants €80m (£68m) – and he's the one that matters. Valencia want to keep Mosquera Arsenal have already seen a bid rejected by Valencia for Cristhian Mosquera and the Spanish club ideally want to keep the young defender. He's entering the final 12 months of his current contract, meaning the time has come for a new deal or to sell. Valencia captain Jose Gaya has summed up the mood around Mosquera and his team-mates Javi Guerra and Cesar Tarrega. He told Spanish radio:"I would be delighted if all three could stay because I think they can give a lot this new season and bring a lot of joy to the fans. As of today, unless there's any breaking news, I think all three of them are still with us, and I hope it continues like this, and they continue to grow as players." Arsenal will continue the pursuit of Mosquera, who is now their primary centre-back target, with Mirror Football understanding that Liverpool are set to win the race for Marc Guehi. Partey heading for exit Thomas Partey's contract expires on June 30 and, with no sign of an agreement, he appears set to leave Arsenal as a free agent. He has been linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, but reports in Turkey say he could be joining Fenerbahce. Fenerbahce's sporting director, Devin Ozek, has reportedly been in London to hold talks with the Ghana international's agents. Jose Mourinho has been keen to sign Partey, who is ahead of Leicester 's Wilfried Ndidi on their transfer list. Arsenal have already prepared for his departure, with Zubimendi and Norgaard arriving to fill the gaps left by Partey and Jorginho.
