Ravens waived an undrafted rookie offensive tackle
To make room for newly signed RB D'Ernest Johnson, Ravens waived reserve OT Ozzie Hutchinson, who was an undrafted rookie from Albany
The Ravens have made nearly a dozen roster moves over the past four days and just parted ways with another undrafted free agent. Baltimore signed former Jaguars running back D'Ernest Johnson on Saturday, and to make room on the roster, the Ravens waived undrafted rookie free agent offensive lineman Ozzie Hutchinson.
Hutchinson (6-4, 305) signed with Baltimore following the 2025 NFL draft after he appeared in 41 games during his stint at Albany (2019-23), earning second-team All-CAA honors in his final season.
Before the Hutchinson move, Baltimore announced five roster moves on Saturday, with the shocker being the release of undrafted rookie kicker John Hoyland. In all, the Ravens signed Brent Urban, Scotty Washington, and Baylor Cupp, while releasing Hoyland, tight end Sam Pitz, and linebacker Diwun Black.

Kyle Schwarber's 2-run shot, grand slam powers Phillies to 13-3 rout of Orioles
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Kyle Schwarber homered twice, including a grand slam in Philadelphia's eight-run sixth inning, and the Phillies pounded the Baltimore Orioles 13-3 win on Monday night. Schwarber finished with six RBIs, running his major league-leading total to 94 on the season. Schwarber's first homer of the game was a two-run shot deep into the second deck that tied it at 3 in the third. He heard 'MVP! MVP!' chants when he came to the plate in the sixth. Schwarber, the All-Star Game MVP, launched his NL-best 40th of the season into the right-center seats off Yaramil Hiraldo for a grand slam that sent the crowd of 41,099 into a frenzy. Harrison Bader homered for the first time since he was acquired by the Phillies at the trade deadline, a tiebreaking three-run shot earlier in the sixth. The Phillies added closer Jhoan Duran and Bader in trades on consecutive days with Minnesota. With his 102.5 mph fastball and electric entrance, Duran was an instant fan favorite in Philly. Bader made his case with a homer off Corbin Martin. Bryce Harper hit a solo shot for the contending Phillies, his 17th. Edmundo Sosa and Weston Wilson hit back-to-back homers in the eighth for a 13-3 lead. Phillies starter Jesús Luzardo (10-5) allowed a two-run homer to Tyler O'Neill and a solo shot to Jordan Westburg over six innings. Key stat Schwarber has reached 40 homers in three of his four seasons with the Phillies. He hit 38 last season. Up next The Orioles send RHP Dean Kremer (8-7, 4.27 ERA) to the mound on Tuesday night against Phillies RHP Taijuan Walker (3-5, 3.82 ERA). ___

Ime Udoka, Fred VanVleet traveled to Turkey to work with Rockets star Alperen Sengun
With Alperen Sengun spending more time than usual in Turkey in the 2025 offseason, the Rockets sent even more big names there to work with him. All-Star center Alperen Sengun spends at least a portion of each NBA offseason in his native Turkey. He typically still works out and does basketball activities in the gym during that time, but it's an opportunity for the 23-year-old to be surrounded by family and friends from his homeland for at least a few weeks. In the 2025 offseason, however, the Rockets star is spending a bit more time at home due to his inclusion on Turkey's FIBA EuroBasket 2025 squad (which opens play later this month). So, rather than waiting for Sengun to eventually return to his NBA home, Houston is sending its leadership to him. As shown in photos posted on the team's official social media accounts, head coach Ime Udoka and starting point guard Fred VanVleet each recently spent time with Sengun in a Turkish gym. It's nothing too out of the ordinary. In past offseasons, it was typically an assistant coach from the Rockets that went to visit Sengun in Turkey. But with expectations higher than ever after the Kevin Durant trade and Sengun's timeline for returning to the United States delayed due to the EuroBasket competition, the Rockets sent even bigger names to Turkey in 2025. The hope is that it allows Sengun, VanVleet, and the rest of their teammates on the 2025-26 Rockets to hit the ground running when training camps open around October 1. In 2024-25, Sengun averaged 19.1 points and a career-high 10.3 rebounds in earning his first career All-Star honors. Houston went 52-30 and finished at No. 2 in the Western Conference standings, and Sengun led the Rockets in rebounding while finishing second in scoring and assists on a per-game basis. Cleveland Browns signing QB Tyler Huntley as injuries pile up in 4-way competition
The injury concerns at quarterback are clearly significant enough the Browns need to bring in can at best be considered short-term help heading into a joint practice and preseason game this week. A league source confimed for the Beacon Journal the Browns are signing quarterback Tyler Huntley. ESPN's Adam Schefter was the first to report. The Browns came into training camp with four quarterbacks vying for the starting job: Joe Flacco, Kenny Pickett, Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders. However, with a joint practice Aug. 6 and preseason game Aug. 8 at the Carolina Panthers, the injuries that have stacked up have led to the need for yet another quarterback in the mix. "Injuries are a part of this game," coach Kevin Stefanski said prior to the Aug. 4 practice. "They're frustrating from the standpoint of when you lose a guy for a good amount of time you feel, that's tough on the players. But the dealing with injuries, adjusting because injuries, that's just part of the game.' Huntley's signing isn't viewed as a response to a long-term concern within the four quarterbacks. Instead, it's a stop-gap to get through the joint practice and preseason game, as well as potentially the following week's two joint practices and preseason game at the Philadelphia Eagles. Pickett has been limited by a hamstring injury he suffered July 26. He's be limited over the last three practices to just individual, one-on-one and, on Aug. 4, a seven-on-seven series. Stefanski said prior to practice Aug. 4 that Gabriel was experienced tightness in his hamstring. The rookie third-round pick did do one seven-on-seven and one 11-on-11 series in the practice. Sanders, the rookie fifth-round pick, returned to full practice participation after sitting out of team drills the last practice Aug. 2 with arm soreness. Flacco, meanwhile, has been the lone quarterback to not miss time due to injury during practice. All of that is on top of Deshaun Watson's continued rehab of two surgeries on his Achilles. He is currently on the active/physically unable to perform list. Huntley's signing now makes it six quarterbacks on the roster. It's a return to a team with whom the 27-year-old quarterback spent all of the 2024 offseason and training camp with before behind released Over three preseason games with the Browns, Huntley was 37-of-51 (72.5%) passing for 322 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions and a 92.1 passer rating. He was sacked five times. The Browns released Huntley last Aug. 29. He was quickly signed to the practice squad by Baltimore Ravens, the team with whom he spent the first four seasons of his career with, including a Pro Bowl season in 2022. Over four seasons with the Ravens, Huntley appeared in 20 regular-season games with nine starts as Lamar Jackson's backup, going 3-6 while completing 64.6% of his passes for 1,957 yards with eight touchdowns and seven interceptions. He also started a wild card game in Cincinnati in January 2022 that the Ravens famously lost when he fumbled at the goal line and the Bengals' Sam Hubbard returned it 99 yards for a touchdown. Huntley was signed by the Miami Dolphins on Sept. 16 due to a concussion to starter Tua Tagovailoa. He started three games for the Dolphins due to the concussion, as well as two games late in the season due to a Tagovailoa hip injury, including a Dec. 29 game in Cleveland. The University of Utah product was 2-3 in those starts, completing 64.7% of his passes for 829 yards. He had three touchdowns and three interceptions.
