Dr. Moopen's Legacy Scholarship & Fellowships launched to aid 25 students from across India in pursuing MBBS, BSc Nursing and B.Pharm education; First Private Medical College in Kerala to Offer 100% Tuition Fee Waiver for Eligible MBBS Students
The scholarships will be offered to 25 eligible students applying to MBBS, BSc Nursing, and BPharm courses. Each year, 5 MBBS, 10 BSc Nursing, and 10 BPharm students will receive these scholarships. For MBBS scholarships, selection will be based solely on merit, recognizing and encouraging students with excellent academic track records and top NEET rankings. While these students often receive priority in admissions, this initiative aims to provide further recognition. Meanwhile, BSc Nursing and B.Pharm candidates will be chosen based on academic merit and financial need. The scholarship will cover the entire tuition fees, subject to the students meeting basic academic performance and adherence to program guidelines. Over the next five years, 125 students will benefit, with the total financial commitment expected to exceed INR 3 crore per annum.
Dr. Azad Moopen, Founder & Chairman, Aster DM Healthcare and Managing Trustee of Dr. Moopen's Education and Research Foundation said, 'Education is the foundation of a stronger and more inclusive society. I have heard countless stories of talented students who were forced to abandon their dreams of becoming doctors, nurses, or pharmacists simply because they lacked financial support. I firmly believe that no capable student should have to give up such aspirations due to economic constraints especially in a field as vital as healthcare. The Dr. Moopen's Legacy Scholarship & Fellowships Programme marks a formal and larger commitment: not just to fund education, but to create opportunities that can transform the lives of individuals, their families, and an entire community. By empowering meritorious students and students from economically challenged backgrounds, we aim to nurture a new generation of healthcare professionals who will carry forward the mission of delivering compassionate, quality care to those who need it most.'
This initiative builds on Dr. Moopen's vision of transforming healthcare in underserved regions. Dr. Moopen's Medical College, established in 2012, was the first medical college in Kerala to be set up in a hilly, tribal, and backward district. Its mission has been to address the shortage of quality healthcare in such regions while inspiring local communities including tribal youth to pursue careers in medicine. The Dr. Moopen's Legacy Scholarship & Fellowships Programme extends that mission, ensuring financial constraints never stand in the way of deserving talent.
Having nurtured around 900 young doctors across 6 batches, Dr. Moopen's Medical College is a sustainable medical education hub in the country. The college has quickly become a center of excellence, boasting experienced faculty, a high-quality library, a museum, and a hospital operating with tertiary care facilities.
Applications for the scholarship will open on 28th July 2025 and applicants can find more details and eligibility guidelines on – www.dmscholarship.in

Egypt non-oil private sector shows signs of stabilization in July: S&P Global - Economy
Egypt's non-oil private sector showed early signs of stabilization in July, with the latest S&P Global Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) indicating a softer contraction in business conditions and a rise in employment for the first time in nine months, S&P announced Tuesday. Egypt's seasonally adjusted headline PMI rose to 49.5 in July, up from 48.8 in June, according to an S&P Global report. While the index remained below the neutral 50 threshold, signalling a fifth consecutive month of decline, the latest reading marks the joint highest level since February. This reflects a marginal deterioration in business conditions and suggests momentum may be shifting toward recovery. Employment growth Egyptian non-oil businesses have notably increased their workforce for the first time since October 2024, a move that analysts say points to rising confidence among firms about future workloads. The rise in employment also coincided with a slight increase in backlogged work, marking the first uptick in outstanding business since March. 'Although the Egypt PMI stayed below 50 in July, the latest survey data provided some cause for optimism,' said David Owen, senior economist at S&P Global Market Intelligence. 'Several firms reported securing new work, which helped soften the rate of decline in sales. Businesses also had the confidence to hire new staff, leading to an increase in employment for the first time in nine months,' he added. While both activity and new orders declined in July, the rates of contraction eased compared to June. The downturn in new businesses was linked to subdued demand and price sensitivity among clients. However, some firms cited emerging signs of improvement in services and pockets of demand recovery. Output levels dipped modestly at the start of the third quarter, with anecdotal evidence pointing to weak client spending as a primary factor. Nevertheless, the wholesale and retail sectors remained the largest drag, offsetting gains seen elsewhere. Mild price pressures continue The report showed that input price inflation had accelerated slightly due to the higher costs for cement, fuel, packaging, and wages. Nonetheless, overall cost pressures remained well below long-term averages, indicating a relatively stable pricing environment. Selling prices rose for the third month running, but only modestly, suggesting businesses are cautious about passing higher costs to consumers, a positive sign for inflation containment. Future outlook still cautious Despite the improving indicators, the report noted that the future output expectations remained historically subdued. Many firms expressed concerns about the strength of demand and broader economic uncertainty, although optimism ticked up slightly from June's record low. Purchasing activity also contracted again in July, albeit at a slower pace, and inventory levels remained largely unchanged. Supply chains continued to perform steadily, with no significant disruptions reported. Follow us on: Facebook Instagram Whatsapp Short link:

Meta Adds $197 Billion in One Day, Microsoft Hits $4 Trillion
Taarek Refaat Wall Street ended July with broad losses on Thursday, but tech giants Meta and Microsoft delivered historic gains that dominated trading headlines. Meta Platforms surged more than 11% in a single session, adding $197 billion to its market capitalization and closing at a record high. The rally followed quarterly earnings that shattered analyst expectations, with second-quarter earnings per share at $7.14 versus $5.92 expected, and revenue reaching $47.52 billion compared with forecasts of $44.80 billion. The company, parent of Facebook, also issued bullish guidance, projecting third-quarter revenue between $47.5 and $50.5 billion, well above Wall Street estimates of $46.14 billion. Meanwhile, Microsoft climbed 3.9% to an all-time high, increasing its market value by $150 billion in one day. The software giant briefly crossed the $4 trillion valuation threshold, becoming only the second listed company after Nvidia to reach that milestone. Microsoft reported fiscal fourth-quarter earnings of $3.65 per share versus $3.37 expected, with revenue of $76.4 billion, surpassing the $73.8 billion forecast. For the first time, the company disclosed full-year revenue for its Azure cloud business, which reached $75 billion in fiscal 2025, a 34% year-over-year increase. Despite the tech rally, U.S. indices closed lower as investors weighed strong corporate earnings against economic uncertainty and looming tariff decisions. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.7% (330 points), marking its fourth straight daily decline, though it eked out a modest 0.1% monthly gain. The S&P 500 slipped 0.4%, still up 2.2% for July, while the Nasdaq Composite edged down 0.03%, capping a 3.7% monthly advance. Pharmaceutical stocks lagged after the White House confirmed that President Donald Trump had sent letters to 17 major drugmakers urging immediate action to lower prescription costs. The contrasting performances highlighted an unusual trading day: broad market pressure on one side, and record-breaking milestones from two of the world's largest technology companies on the other. read more CBE: Deposits in Local Currency Hit EGP 5.25 Trillion Morocco Plans to Spend $1 Billion to Mitigate Drought Effect Gov't Approves Final Version of State Ownership Policy Document Egypt's Economy Expected to Grow 5% by the end of 2022/23- Minister Qatar Agrees to Supply Germany with LNG for 15 Years Business Oil Prices Descend amid Anticipation of Additional US Strategic Petroleum Reserves Business Suez Canal Records $704 Million, Historically Highest Monthly Revenue Business Egypt's Stock Exchange Earns EGP 4.9 Billion on Tuesday Business Wheat delivery season commences on April 15 News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier News Ayat Khaddoura's Final Video Captures Bombardment of Beit Lahia Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Arts & Culture Lebanese Media: Fayrouz Collapses after Death of Ziad Rahbani Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results
