‘Good quality' and ‘very comfy' garden corner sofa slashed from £500 to £130 for the next heatwave
With another heatwave promised in the coming weeks, now is the ideal time to transform your garden ready to enjoy the sunshine. Nothing updates an outdoor space quicker than some great furniture, and we've found a great deal on a complete furniture set that'll transform your garden on a budget.
The Studio Bali Rattan Corner Sofa Set is usually priced at £499.99, but thanks to Sports Direct's summer sale, you can now get your hands on it for £129.99, giving you a huge £370 saving. Whilst Sports Direct might not have been your typical port of call for some outdoor furniture, it turns out they have a great selection of pieces to make over your space without breaking the bank.
The Studio Bali Rattan Corner Sofa Set includes a large L-shaped sofa, as well as a multi-functional ottoman, which can be used as either a table or as extra seating. Both the ottoman and sofa come with removable seating cushions, as well as a set of extra squishy backrest cushions to place along your sofa.
It's built from a sturdy metal frame that is coated in a dark grey PVC rattan, which keeps it waterproof and easy to clean down. The cushions are a chic, contrasting light grey which gives it a modern, stylish look that'll fit in with almost any garden designs.
Sports Direct isn't the only place to slash the price on garden furniture sets for the summer, with Debenhams currently reducing the 3 Seater Rattan Garden Corner Sofa Set with Coffee Table from £499.99 to £219.99. The set also includes a three seater corner sofa, but rather than a transformable ottoman, it has a glass-topped coffee table which ensures its sturdy enough to balance glasses and plates on.
Amazon also has a great bargain, with the Aweather 3 Pcs Rattan Garden Furniture Set now on sale down from £229.99 to £189.99. It may not be quite as dramatic a saving as the others, but it's still a great choice, not to mention comes in a light, natural colourway with white cushions that give it a luxe look.
However, of them all, the Studio Bali Rattan Corner Sofa Set has the best discount, not to mention the most budget-friendly price. It's also got some glowing reviews from Sports Direct shoppers, with one saying: 'Didn't take that long to build, good quality, very comfy, very happy with this purchase.'
Another said: 'I am so happy i purchased this garden Rattan corner Sofa set it wasn't super easy to put together but once it was together it fitted perfectly in a very small area.'
Its assembly seemed to be the biggest sticking point for many buyers, with one writing: 'Overall I'm happy with patio furniture however, it arrived with bolts that were a size too small so, when building it I had to postpone until I visited screw fix to get the correct size. Instruction diagram is awful!'
Another agreed: 'Absolutely stunning garden set… A bit tricky to put it together but once that's done it looks stunning.'

But shoppers have been told the shop is pulling the shutters down permanently in October, as reported by NorthWalesLive. "The closure of Sports Direct in Rhyl would have detrimental effects on our local economy and community well-being." The closure is the latest blow to Rhyl's high street, with a handful of stores and attractions shutting down in the past four years. Major card chain with 163 shops launches closing down sales ahead of shutting its doors for good This comes after a Sports Direct branch in Cambridge shut down recently, after launching a huge closing down sale. Earlier this year, Sports Direct pulled the plug on its Central Six Retail Park store in Coventry at the end of January. Last year, its branches in Stroud, Gloucestershire, and on Octagon Parade in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, also shut permanently. And, just this week a retail chain owned by Sports Direct billionaire Mike Ashley "vanished". The business tycoon has stakes in several household name brands, including Boohoo, Hugo Boss and House of Fraser. And nestled in the Fountainbridge area of Edinburgh is Evans Cycles. The specialist bike store reportedly stocked "over 40,000 specialist products, from some of the world's most renowned cycling brands". Evans Cycles was acquired by the Frasers Group - which is helmed by Mr Ashley - as part of a rescue deal in 2018. However the shutters have been pulled down for a final time, after the retailer was "served notice by the landlord". The recent closure leaves five remaining Evans Cycles in Scotland - two in Glasgow, two in Aberdeen and one in Dundee. A Frasers Group spokesperson told Edinburgh Evening News: 'It is with regret that we have been served notice by the landlord to close Evans Cycles Edinburgh. "We would like to take this opportunity to thank our staff for their hard work and dedication. "Where possible, we are committed to finding new roles within the Group for staff.' Loyal customers rushed online to express their disappointment. One said: "Shocked to see Evan's go." Another added: "Cycling has increased dramatically in Edinburgh over the years, so I'm at a loss as to why it has closed." RETAIL PAIN IN 2025 The British Retail Consortium has predicted that the Treasury's hike to employer NICs will cost the retail sector £2.3billion. Research by the British Chambers of Commerce shows that more than half of companies plan to raise prices by early April. A survey of more than 4,800 firms found that 55% expect prices to increase in the next three months, up from 39% in a similar poll conducted in the latter half of 2024. Three-quarters of companies cited the cost of employing people as their primary financial pressure. The Centre for Retail Research (CRR) has also warned that around 17,350 retail sites are expected to shut down this year. It comes on the back of a tough 2024 when 13,000 shops closed their doors for good, already a 28% increase on the previous year. Professor Joshua Bamfield, director of the CRR said: "The results for 2024 show that although the outcomes for store closures overall were not as poor as in either 2020 or 2022, they are still disconcerting, with worse set to come in 2025." Professor Bamfield has also warned of a bleak outlook for 2025, predicting that as many as 202,000 jobs could be lost in the sector. "By increasing both the costs of running stores and the costs on each consumer's household it is highly likely that we will see retail job losses eclipse the height of the pandemic in 2020."

Lowest price ever: This Anker charger is almost 50% off right now
At NBC Select, we have a lot to say about chargers and power banks. Knowing the difference between a great one and a not-so-good one can make or break your next vacation or road trip, which is where we come in to help. Anker makes some of the fastest charging devices I've ever used — it's one of the best brands on the market for these kinds of devices and while it recently recalled a few of its products, one that's still fair game is the Anker Prime 67-watt charger. It's almost 50% off on Amazon right now, putting it at its lowest price ever. Learn more, below. Deal of the Day: The Anker Prime 67-watt USB-C charger is 1.5 x 1.5 x 2 inches, making it less than half the size of an Apple laptop power adapter. It has three ports: a USB and two USB-C ones. It's safe to charge up to three devices simultaneously, including iPhones, iPads and other tablets, earbuds and over-ear headphones, Apple Watches and Macbook Pro and Air, according to Anker. The charger also powers up devices quickly — customers note that it charges around 2 to 3% every minute, depending on the device. Given its small size, the charger could easily fit a travel tech organizer bag, a tote or crossbody bag. Want more from NBC Select? Sign up for our newsletter, The Selection, and shop smarter.
