The energy was high and the competition fierce as the Grand Final of the Golf Sixes League, Abu Dhabi unfolded at Yas Acres Golf Club on Saturday, April 19, 2025. Young golf enthusiasts from clubs across Abu Dhabi, along with rising talents from the Emirates Golf Federation, teed off for one last round in what has been an exhilarating league season.
After four action-packed rounds of spirited play, it was Yas Acres Golf & Country Club who stood tall, earning the coveted title of 2025 Overall Champions.
The Golf Sixes League, initially launched with the support of The R&A and now championed by the Emirates Golf Federation, is all about blending competitive spirit with fun. The league provides junior golfers with an exciting, inclusive format that's both engaging and developmental.
Seven squads, each with 12 players rotating a team of six for each round, battled it out in a two-ball Texas Scramble stroke play across six holes. For scoring, the top two results from three pairs were counted toward each team's final tally—bringing strategy and teamwork into every shot.
And it all came down to the final round. After a day of stellar sportsmanship and skill, the Yas Acres squad clinched the win in round four, which catapulted them to the top of the leaderboard and sealed their place as the season's best.
"It was a fantastic afternoon of fun and good sportsmanship," organizers shared, celebrating both the competition and camaraderie that defines the Golf Sixes League.
A huge thank you goes out to all the people and organizations who made this season possible—Yas Links GC, Abu Dhabi City GC, Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting and GC, Yas Acres GC, as well as the Team Managers, Golf Genius, Confederation of Professional Golf, and Golfway.

Summer sizzles at Jumeirah Golf Estates as 2025 Scramble serves up great golf and good vibes

Under Dubai's blazing sun, 108 players took on the Earth course in a tightly contested Texas Scramble, culminating in a dramatic countback victory and a celebration of golf at its finest With summer in full swing, the action heated up even more at Jumeirah Golf Estates last weekend, where 108 members and their guests gathered for the highly anticipated Annual Summer Scramble on the iconic Earth course. With teams braving the heat and showcasing their skills in a Texas Scramble format, the event proved once again why it's a calendar favourite at one of Dubai's most prestigious golf destinations. Gentlemen teed off from the Tournament Tees and ladies from the Forward Tees, each team vying not just for victory but for bragging rights in one of the most spirited competitions of the season. Praise for the Agronomy Team 'The Earth course was in superb condition, so we extend our sincere thanks to Stuart Horwood and his Agronomy Team.," said Cameron McWhinnie, Assistant Golf Services Manager. "We're also grateful to all Members and guests for their participation and resilience in taking on the summer heat this morning.' And it was a battle right to the final putt. Martin Stewart, Callum Smithson, Gurpreet Shatra, and Alfie Waters emerged victorious with an electrifying team total of 21-under-par net 51, sealing the championship after a tight countback finish. Their six net eagles and standout back-nine were the difference makers. 'All four of us played really well today and dovetailed perfectly,' said Alfie Waters. 'The Earth course was in fantastic shape, and we really appreciated the work put in by the Agronomy Team.' Sharing that same score but edged out in the countback were runners-up Richard Bernans, Benjamin Tomkins, Bradley Valentine, and Andrew Turnbull - whose solid round was just short of glory, thanks in part to pars on all four par-3s. In third, just one shot back, was the formidable team of David Warham, Richard Green, Adam Hodgkins, and Oliver Wood, carding an excellent net 52 (20-under-par). Tom Stephen takes Gross Honours Meanwhile, the best gross score of the day belonged to 2025 Jumeirah Golf Estates Club Champion Tom Stephen and his powerhouse team of Thomas Purdy, Tom Neale, and Robert Standing. Their round of 56 (16-under-par) featured three net eagles on the Earth course's demanding par 5s - a true masterclass in teamwork and strategy. As the sun set, players gathered in the Ballroom for a well-earned buffet and prize presentation, toasting not just the day's winners, but the shared spirit of friendly competition. Jumeirah Golf Estates thanks all participants and the dedicated staff for making the 2025 Summer Scramble a memorable success and looks forward to more exciting events in the months ahead.

UAE stars tee up for glory in Korea after thrilling Dugasta final showdown

The journey that began months ago across the UAE's premier golf courses throughout the Emirates, reached its thrilling conclusion last weekend as the Dugasta Race to Korea National Final unfolded at Abu Dhabi Golf Resort & Spa. The stakes were high, the competition fierce, and the prize — a chance to represent the UAE at the prestigious World Amateur Golfers Championship in Jeju Island, South Korea in October-November this year. After 18 fiercely contested qualifying rounds over 1,000 hopefuls were whittled down to an elite field for the grand finale. The National Final brought together the very best amateur golfers in the country, divided into five handicap categories — each player hoping to seal their place on the international stage. In Division 1 (0–5.4 handicap), Dhruv Nair of Dubai Creek Golf Club delivered a composed round of net 71, finishing atop the leaderboard. Neil Maidment from Sharjah produced the day's best score — a superb net 66 — to win Division 2 (5.5–10.4 handicap). Irfan Izhar matched Nair's total with a net 71 to secure Division 3 (10.5–15.4 handicap), while Neil Mitchell of The Els Club matched the same score to triumph in Division 4 (15.5–20.4 handicap). Rounding off the winners, Ivan Kraemer from Emirates Golf Club posted a steady net 75 to take top honours in Division 5 (20.5–25.4 handicap). These five golfers — each a reflection of skill and determination — have now earned the honour of representing the UAE at the World Amateur Golfers Championship in Jeju Island where they will compete against players from over 40 countries. Organised by Sport2Business Events, the Dugasta Race to Korea series has not only showcased the rising standard of golf in the UAE but also brought the community together in a spirit of camaraderie and competition. The season long tournament is sanctioned by the Emirates Golf Federation (EGF). Russell Yeomans, promoter of the 2025 Race to Korea, commented, "This event at Abu Dhabi Golf Resort & Spa, is the culmination of our 2025 season. Congratulations to the five Divisional champions for their scores. "It has been a long season for all, but we feel the participation levels have been so much higher this season, especially at the end of the calendar. Thanks to all the golf clubs, and the Emirates Golf Federation for everyone's support. "We are especially happy with the scoring levels. Looking at the overall final results it seems that we gave everyone the chance to participate and qualify – that is the difficult part of organizing a countrywide event involving so many players of varying handicap levels' 'We are proud of the UAE team we have assembled," Yeomans added. "Attention now focuses to Jeju Island, for the World Final. We are all looking forward to what will be a very special week." 'As part of the Sport2Business portfolio, we have attended previous World Finals at various venues.' Around 47 countries will be competing this year – it really is a Bucket-List event,' concluded Yeomans. From Abu Dhabi to Ajman, the series inspired newcomers and seasoned players alike — proving that golf's grassroots in the UAE are alive, thriving, and gaining global momentum. As the UAE's five champions prepare for their South Korean adventure on an all-expenses paid 7-day golfing extravaganza, the spotlight now shifts to Jeju Island, where dreams of global glory await — and the next chapter in their golfing journeys begins.
