After losing the IPL 2025 final to RCB, partner of Preity Zinta makes a special request to BCCI for.....

The 18th edition of the IPL concluded recently, in which Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) created history by winning the title for the first time. Viewership records were broken this season and the brand value of the league also reached new heights.
The brand value of the IPL is increasing with every season and at present it has become the second most valuable league in the world after America's NFL. However, the gap between NFL and IPL is still quite big.
Punjab Kings co-owner Mohit Burman has suggested that the IPL window be extended from 3 to 4 months (12-16 weeks). He said that other big leagues like the NFL (4.5 months), Premier League (9 months) and NBA (7 months) run for a longer period, giving them an advantage in brand building and fan engagement.
In a conversation with PTI, Mohit Burman said, 'We are second after NFL in value per match, but we are still behind in total brand value. If we want to get there, we need a window of 12-16 weeks.'
Burman further said, 'Longer window will give us a chance to tell better stories, increase competition and create more value for fans, broadcasters and sponsors. Just increasing the time will not do anything, during that time we will also have to focus on content, fan engagement and off-season planning.'
At present, 10 teams play 74 matches and the tournament gets a window of 9-10 weeks. But there is news that from 2028, the number of matches in IPL can be increased to 94, although the number of teams will not increase.
This proposed plan will allow every team to play an equal number of home and away matches, which will automatically increase the league window. However, it is not possible to implement it before 2028 as the schedule till 2027 is already fixed.

Who plays, who sits? Injuries cloud India's Playing XI for 4th Test vs ENG

India cricket team is expected to field a rejigged playing XI for the fourth Test, which starts on July 23 against England at Old Trafford in Manchester. After the conclusion of the third Test at Lord's, the million-dollar question was whether Jasprit Bumrah would feature in India's XI for the fourth Test. However, the narrative has changed completely as the start of the Manchester Test nears. How will injuries to at least four players in the squad affect India's Playing XI choices? Ahead of the fourth Test, India has been fretting over the fitness of two key players — Rishabh Pant and Akash Deep. But the list of injured players has now grown to four, with Arshdeep Singh and Nitish Kumar Reddy also added. Rishabh Pant - nursing index finger injury Since his return from a serious accident, Rishabh Pant's workload has been closely monitored by the selectors. With the fourth Test at Old Trafford approaching, it remains to be seen whether he will play as a wicketkeeper or purely as a batsman. A recent hand injury kept him out of wicketkeeping duties in the third Test, where Dhruv Jurel took over behind the stumps. Akash Deep - nursing groin issue Following a strong performance at Edgbaston, Bengal pacer Akash Deep appeared to struggle at Lord's. Reports suggest he is dealing with a groin strain, making his inclusion for the Manchester Test doubtful. With Jasprit Bumrah's availability for the fifth Test also uncertain, the team management is hoping for a swift recovery from Akash; otherwise, they may be forced to issue another SOS to the selectors. Arsdeep Singh - injured his bowling hand during net session Arshdeep Singh was being considered for a spot during the latter part of the Test series, but a cut on his bowling hand during a practice session has ruled him out of at least the fourth match. As a contingency, the selectors have brought in Anshul Kamboj — who had impressed in the A series preceding the Test tour — and he is now under consideration. Nitish Kumar Reddy - ruled out of series due to knee injury Nitish Kumar Reddy, who had earlier suffered a side strain during the white-ball series against England at home, underwent rehabilitation at the NCA before being cleared for the IPL. However, he managed to bowl only 30 deliveries throughout the tournament before travelling to England. Having featured in the first two Tests, his tour is now expected to end prematurely after sustaining a ligament injury on Sunday. What do we know so far about India's Playing XI for the 4th Test vs England? Will Karun Nair get a chance once again? After the conclusion of the Lord's Test, it has been widely advocated that India should return to Sai Sudharsan for the number three batting position, with many former cricketers calling for Karun Nair to be dropped. In three outings against England — at Headingley, Edgbaston, and Lord's — the Karnataka batter scored just 131 runs at an average of 21.83, with a top score of 40. While Nair has managed to spend time at the crease, facing 249 deliveries in six innings, his vulnerability to pace and seam has raised concerns ahead of the fourth Test in Manchester, starting July 23. The 32-year-old's scores of 0, 20, 31, 26, 40, and 14 reflect a string of starts that failed to materialise into substantial contributions. With India trailing 1–2 in the five-match series, captain Shubman Gill may have to decide between persisting with Nair or giving an opportunity to 23-year-old Sai Sudharsan, who is waiting in the wings. However, the Karnataka batter is expected to retain his position after Nitish Kumar Reddy was ruled out of the England Test series, as the management may not want to make too many changes to the XI. Will Dhruv Jurel and Rishabh Pant both be part of India's XI? When Pant injured his index finger, Jurel took over the wicketkeeping duties for the remainder of the third Test. However, Pant came out to bat in his usual position during the innings. As the build-up to the Manchester Test gained momentum, it has been observed that the management is inclined to field Jurel as the keeper if Pant is not fully fit before the match begins on July 23. The Indian team management has also been considering playing Pant as a specialist batter. In this scenario, Nair is again expected to retain his place if India does not opt for a like-for-like replacement for Nitish Reddy. How has Nitish Kumar Reddy's injury created a major headache for captain Gill? The inclusion of Nitish Kumar Reddy in India's Playing XI after the first Test brought some balance, especially by strengthening the lower-order batting. Now, with Nitish Kumar Reddy ruled out of the remainder of the England Test tour, the management is pondering whether to include Shardul Thakur — who can contribute with both bat and ball — or bring in a specialist batter or bowler. Given that Mohammed Siraj has bowled over 100 overs across the three matches so far, captain Gill may prefer to include an extra seamer in the Playing XI. If Shardul Thakur gets a game, then Karun Nair might have to make way to accommodate both Shardul and Jurel. Who will replace Akash Deep if he fails to get fit? When Akash Deep was suffering from a groin issue during the Lord's Test, it was believed that Arshdeep Singh would likely make his Test debut in Manchester. However, the left-arm pacer injured his bowling hand while trying to stop a drive from Sai Sudharsan in the nets. Arshdeep could have added variety to India's bowling line-up with his angle and might have created rough patches outside the off-stump for Washington Sundar. However, those plans seem to have been shelved after the injury. In terms of team composition, if Akash fails to recover from his groin injury, Prasidh Krishna or Anshul Kamboj might be included in India's XI for the Manchester Test. Harshit Rana is another option the management might consider as well.

Campa Cola corners 14% market share in key cities, claims Reliance Retail

NEW DELHI: Campa Cola, the soft drink brand owned by Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Consumer Products Ltd (RCPL), a subsidiary of Reliance Retail Ventures Ltd, is reportedly gaining market share from established competing brands such as Coca-Cola and PepsiCo in India. "Campa has now 14% market share in key markets," said Dinesh Taluja, chief financial officer of Reliance Retail, without naming these markets. 'We did a high decibel campaign during IPL for Campa, which has a very high recall. And we now have double digit market share in key markets. We are also pretty quickly expanding our supply chain and building robust manufacturing capabilities across the length and breadth of the country,' Taluja said during a recent analysts call. The New Indian Express could not independently verify the said market share of Campa Cola in the local soft drinks space. While these numbers are small in comparison to Coca-Cola's 60% market share and PepsiCo's 30% market share in the carbonated drinks market in India, Taluja believes 'these numbers are building up very fast.' The company says it is using 'world-class' manufacturing and R&D facilities with a lot of automation and backward integration, which would give it superiority on product as well as the lowest cost and help it win in the market. Campa is currently available in five flavours/ranges – Campa Cola, orange, lemon, Campa Powerup, and Campa Cricket (an energy drink). This soft drink brand was acquired by Reliance in August 2022 for Rs 22 crore. It was relaunched in March 2024. Reliance Retail's FMCG business raked in Rs 4,400 crore revenue in the first quarter (FY26), registering over 100% growth year-on-year. As the company announced earlier, RCPL will be soon demerged from Reliance Retail and will be made a direct subsidiary of Reliance Industries. The company says the proposed demerger, which will be completed in the current financial year, will help RCPL build a focused organisation and house all consumer brands portfolio, said CFO Taluja in the analysts call.

Injuries scuttle India's preparation! Nitish Reddy likely to be ruled out

India's Nitish Kumar Reddy leaves the field after being dismissed by England's Ben Stokes on day three of the Third Rothesay Men's Test at Lord's Cricket Ground, London on Saturday July 12, 2025. (Bradley Collyer/PA via AP) Manchester: On Saturday, Anshul Kamboj was asked to travel to Manchester as a cover for pacers Arshdeep Singh and Akash Deep. Just as the Indian team was settling into a good rhythm with a settled combination in the series, they were hamstrung by a few injuries leading up to the fourth Test starting here on Wednesday. The latest on the list is Nitish Kumar Reddy, who is suspected to have suffered a knee injury. It's been raining here almost all day for the last two days. The practice session on Sunday was restricted to the indoor facilities at Old Trafford. Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul, Washington Sundar, and Reddy skipped practice. Akash Deep's groin and back are being monitored closely, while Arshdeep's split webbing on his bowling hand is likely to take some more time to heal. TOI understands that Reddy could well be ruled out of the tour. 'Reddy has injured his knee. The BCCI medical team is assessing him, but it could be a ligament tear,' a BCCI source told TOI. If Reddy is unfit, the team management may have to go with Shardul Thakur. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! India had banked on the utility allrounders in Nitish Kumar Reddy and Washington to lend balance to the playing XI from the second Test. With two Tests remaining, they were expected to play a bigger role than just being the support wheels. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 15 Most Gorgeous Women, Ranked BigGlobalTravel Undo It's not just Reddy and Washington; Dhruv Jurel may have to be ready too, as Pant's recovery from an index finger injury is also being monitored daily. Assistant Coach Ryan ten Doeschate on Thursday claimed Jurel is being kept ready in case Pant doesn't recover enough to keep wickets here. 'It's giving as much attention and care to the guys who aren't playing as they are playing. Making sure they get quality practice between tests. Talking to them about why we are going with the combinations we're not going with and hoping that they're in the right frame of mind and obviously physically and technically ready to play Test cricket when their chance comes,' ten Doeschate said on Thursday. EXCLUSIVE: Nitish Kumar Reddy ruled out of England Test series Gautam Gambhir's tenure as Head Coach of the team has mostly been about having more players with multiple skills regardless of the format of the game. That led to Washington Sundar playing ahead of R Ashwin to start the Test series in Australia last November. Reddy was fast-tracked into the Test team in Australia mainly because of the promise he showed in the preceding IPL. Reddy's century in the Boxing Day Test in Melbourne raised hopes of finally discovering a genuine seam-bowling allrounder in the mix since Hardik Pandya expressed reluctance to play Test cricket due to fitness issues a few years ago. Thakur, who was seen as the one to be doing the job in the interim, lost his place to Reddy after the first Test here. It's time Thakur proved the selectors right for bringing him back almost out of the blue. There are murmurs that Gambhir has been overtly keen to give Jurel more game time too. All of it sounds fair in the white-ball formats. To execute it in the longest format of the game needs absolute conviction. Poll Who do you think should replace Nitish Kumar Reddy if ruled out due to injury? Shardul Thakur Dhruv Jurel Another allrounder Stick with the current squad Gambhir's calls have been mostly vindicated by Washington and Reddy with crucial contributions at different stages in different Test matches. Washington's spell of 4/22 in the second innings at Lord's last week gave India a definite advantage to go ahead in the series. He also answered the team management's call to arrest any lower middle-order collapse in the first innings before he fell for a duck in the chase at Lord's. It was Washington's finest performance overseas. However, Reddy's performances since the MCG Test have been underwhelming. He was brought in to bat at No. 6 from Edgbaston. By the second innings in the second Test, he lost that batting number to Ravindra Jadeja. The three top-order wickets at Lord's have been his biggest contribution. Thakur looked out of breath in the first Test. What this team needs at this moment is reassurance from Thakur and Washington that they are ready to step up and do more than just contribute to the team. Washington and Thakur are not completely alien to taking more responsibility when the team is somewhat crippled, as he showed on his Test debut in the famous Gabba win in 2021. It was in England in 2021 that Thakur truly showed his prowess as a bowling allrounder with his batting capabilities down the order. He may have got another shot at redemption.
