Oklahoma City Thunder's NBA Championship Parade: Date, time, route and where to watch historic celebration
Oklahoma City Thunder's journey began in the 2005-06 season when the New Orleans Hornets temporarily relocated to the city after Hurricane Katrina. Despite early struggles, the Thunder quickly became strong contenders with stars like Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, and James Harden.
However, they failed to experience the championship glory. In 2012, the Thunder were defeated by the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals. The following year, Westbrook's playoff injury ended their hopes. In the year 2016, the team led the Golden State Warriors 3-1 in the Western Conference Finals but eventually lost. Now, after years of hardwork, the Thunder and their fans finally have their winning moment.
The Oklahoma City Thunder championship parade is scheduled for Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at 11:30 AM ET. The 90-minute event will have a route starting at NW 10th Street and N. Harvey Avenue, which will head to the south on N. Harvey to NW 5th Street and then to the west towards N. Walker Avenue. The longest stretch runs along N. Walker Avenue through Bicentennial Park to SW 3rd Street, ending near Scissortail Park on N. Robinson Avenue.
The City manager Craig Freeman advised attendees to expect large crowds, recommending they bring refillable water bottles and snacks. 'Bring refillable water bottles and packaged food or snacks,' Freeman told KFOR.
Before the parade, the Thunder will host a private event at Paycom Center, which will be broadcast on local news channels, the team's app, and their YouTube channel, according to The Oklahoman. The live streaming will be available on the Thunder's website.
As Gilgeous-Alexander, Williams, and their teammates ride through downtown, they will meet the fans who never stopped believing in the team.

FIVB President tells local amateurs to "keep enjoying the game" at men's VNL Finals
Ningbo (China), Aug 1 (UNI) Fabio Azevedo, President of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) today joined local amateurs for an air volleyball event in Beilun, Ningbo, the host city of the 2025 FIVB Men's Volleyball Nations League (VNL) Finals. The activity saw FIVB officials and local enthusiasts engage in a lively air volleyball match, drawing cheers and applauses from spectators with several thrilling rallies. "It's amazing. It's fantastic because air volleyball can be the best way for kids to start playing," Azevedo said. "The ball is light, it doesn't hurt, and the way of playing is so easy. It enables mass participation and brings joy to all age groups." Azevedo also noted the inclusiveness of the sport: "Air volleyball is a great manifestation of a sport. It's a great promotion of a sport. Everybody can play. The court is smaller, the net is lower, it's easy, inclusive, and fun. It's already included in FIVB's global volleyball movements." In addition to the sporting activities, FIVB officials immersed themselves in local culture. They watched traditional lion dances and martial arts performances and toured a local intangible cultural heritage market, exploring Chinese traditional crafts such as paper-cutting, tie-dye, and tea whisking. "It is an amazing demonstration of Chinese cultural heritage," Azevedo said. "I can't pick a favorite, all of them are beautiful reflections of Chinese culture." Azevedo also took the opportunity to encourage local fans to keep embracing volleyball as part of their everyday lives. "Keep playing. Keep enjoying the game," he added. "Volleyball has the power to bring people together. It's all about togetherness. We want to see more people playing and getting engaged in volleyball." UNI/XINHUA BM

'Iron Man' Mikal Bridges Signs $150 Million Extension With New York Knicks: Report
Last Updated: Mikal Bridges signs a four-year, $150 million extension with the New York Knicks, prioritizing team flexibility over a larger deal. He averaged 17.6 points in 2023-24. Mikal Bridges has committed his future to the New York Knicks, agreeing to a four-year, $150 million contract extension, as per the latest reports. The agreement, first reported by ESPN, has not yet been formally announced. The 27-year-old forward reportedly passed up the opportunity to earn even more by locking in now. Bridges could have secured a $156 million extension—or potentially more—by waiting until his current contract expired next summer. Instead, he opted for slightly less money in a move that offers the Knicks greater financial flexibility as they continue building a championship contender. The Knicks made a major investment to acquire Bridges from the Brooklyn Nets in June, sending five first-round picks in a blockbuster trade. His decision to take a below-maximum extension demonstrates his desire to stay with the franchise and reunite long-term with his former Villanova teammates Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart. The trio helped lead the Knicks to their deepest playoff run in decades. Bridges quickly validated the Knicks' trade, providing crucial perimeter defense and consistency throughout the 2024 playoffs. Bridges averaged 17.6 points per game in the 2023–24 season, taking on a supporting offensive role behind stars Jalen Brunson and newly acquired Karl-Anthony Towns. While his scoring numbers dipped slightly from his time with the Nets, his ability to adapt and contribute on both ends of the court made him invaluable to head coach Tom Thibodeau's system. 'Iron Man" Bridges has also never missed a game in his NBA or collegiate career, appearing in all 556 regular-season games since being drafted in the first round in 2018. Prior to his move to the Knicks, Mikal previously helped the Phoenix Suns reach the NBA Finals in 2021 and finished second in Defensive Player of the Year voting in 2022. In 2023, he was traded to Brooklyn as part of the Kevin Durant blockbuster deal and finished that season strong, averaging 26.1 points over the final 27 games. Six matches will be played per day. A special 'Smash Rule' will apply on the final day. What is Smash Rule Under this rule, a team must first reach or cross a points target — calculated as the current first-place team's total points plus 10. After hitting this target, the team must win any of the remaining matches on Day 3 to become champions. Just reaching the target and winning that same match does not guarantee the title. If no team meets both conditions by the end of all 18 matches, the team with the highest total points will win the tournament as per regular rules. AI Masterclass for Students.
